Is our berkeley cam one of my favorite games to share with you so you guys know what this one looks like usually it definitely doesnt usually look like this a definite orange glow to it from the city lights down below now with conditions as i mentioned not having changed much since yesterday at this time we still do have that marine layer which is shielding or lower elevations in the bay for some of the worst of air quality. Well our inland areas are looking at very poor conditions. So that smoke is still sitting right above us and you have those water droplets in the atmosphere that are going to be refracting light in a pretty similar way to yesterday so theres likely to be orange pockets and if not orange at least grey and smoky so not a good day to plan a whole lot of outdoor activities. 50s and 60s for current temperatures, we remain cool day yesterday and today with lighter winds that smoke really hasnt gone anywhere. Its going to still sit across the bay area still a very dense layer of it too and its all transported our direction from those fires up north. Now that winds have relaxed you can see this faint glow across stormtracker 4 indicating both smoke and marine layer that is just settled both across the state as well as hundreds of miles off the coast. So any sort of marine layer that pushes through is likely to be embedded in it. Some of that smoke that is settled down in the pacific as well as were not going to have a lot of relief in this forecast from the smoky conditions unfortunately. Today and tomorrow are likely to be some of our cooler days and some of our smoke, your ones too. Barely reaching the 80s for only a a couple of inland cities today. Most of us are going to remain in the 60s to 70s thats your forecast weve got robin with a look at your thursday morning traffic i nt thank you john its picking up out there we have some crowding here on 92 are checking in on the san mateo bridge which of course started backing up in the 4 oclock hour and now that were in the 5 oclock hour its getting heavier, no major trouble spots though just a little busy west of the pay gates so were averaging 12 minutes for west 92 from the nimitz over to one o one, heres your bay bridge toll plaza and the trip into
San Francisco
is just fine under 15 minutes from the bottom of the maze to fremont street. And no major crashes but we do have roadwork in the same spot that we had yesterday causing a slowdown along the same stretch as yesterday. This is a to the south between 9. 80 and fruitvale crews are out there blocking. Yesterday picked up at 6 oclock so we may have to deal with this another hour, its only going south the northbound direction looks fine you can definitely takes 5. 80 instead and 5. 80 to the

also make sure that dont do any exercising for any strenuous work outside if you can. Also most important thing if you can youre out and about make sure you wear a mask james, and i am a sure i put mine on today because i have not been able to breathe out of my nose since i allergies yeah, it just exacerbates things you now and is that its just regular allergies is what you normally how. And it says back yes a lot. Right i regularly allergies and you know with the the smoke it. You know how they were talking about the small particles here in the day and you think that youre not in lead it because you does it look like you or or i lost just be careful so do you take anything for that you have an air cleaner, i know airplanes are all selling out right now. Yes, so i dont have an air filter thats a really good suggestion. Darya thats also all the list of things you can do that hey if youre watching this and maybe youre like hey. Okay well i would say you too but youre working to get the mask and go in the car research may be to try and buy some really of rain and thank you. Yes, thank you so much. Right now not the only one out there by the way we have another live shot from san jose where you can see not much just yet obviously but were keeping our eye on the skies and the air quality in the south bay just as bad as it was there in
Alameda County
where rain was and heres a look at the air quality map and you can see down in
Santa Clara County
down around san jose looks like weve got all the indicators there in red. With those scores above a 100 which is rain explained his not that great for you so if youre an allergy sufferer seasonal allergies all the particles in the air could of to make things a bit difficult for you today so do what you can to trying to keep your airways clear stay indoors and is a very suggestive you can find them those air purifiers apparently going a long way for a lot of folks. Yeah and we heard the suggestion yesterday was keep it in one room that could be your quote a cult clean room right because you cant really use one of these portable units for the whole house, at least one room could be your you know relief room to go gets back again weve got relief from the heat not going to hot day or anything them and we should all have to open the windows to get it cooled off yeah. And dont forget to get a lot more information on our web site including a slideshow there with all the pictures of people in setting and wow look at all these. And the smoky skies causing delays at sfo and some confusion. Were going hear from travelers who are like. And after the break again like i said its all because of the wildfires were going to have the latest on the bear fire, thats the one in butte county. And that their fire did give us some of the wildfire smoke that we experienced yesterday and will continue to see today on into tomorrow too likely to see just bids the sunshine through what will be overall 5. 10 and lets continue our

for us this morning. And well while

if the if its another orange day that will be some pretty neat views from there. Yes, i actually tweeted out some pictures yesterday from
Treasure Island
we will find out james and area maybe in about an hour and a half from now once the sun comes up. You can see this city behind me theres the bay bridge. It is still dark so you might make out some lights again the test is when sunrise happens. Breathing not so bad, i dont smell the smoky conditions but is all that ash that was floating around throughout california in fact i think we have some video of that it turned day into night it turned just what should be what have been a hot day. I think im meteorologist were talking about it being another warm day instead it dropped about 30 degrees. All that. Sunlight was spread by the ash and it turned it, orange, it was. Kind of funny scary mysterious looking all the same time it obviously made

as far as the breathing its not so bad the ash i dont see floating around at this time. But again we will find out just like when we were caught off guard yesterday i was outside you might recall doing
San Francisco
gyms reopening and it was still dark but once the sun came up everybody saw it go. All my goodness l looked like the end of days so fingers crossed it wont be as bad, but reportedly might be just a mirror image of what we saw yesterday. Ill let know, but the bottom line is. Its a funny time to be alive thats all i can say about is that really what you want to call it funny interesting and you have a lot of these games. Lets or knows todays letter knows that what im talking about its i do want to use a colorful met okay same letter yes, use you have allergies will and i think you have like me kind of like asthma. I didnt really smell smoke all day i was fine how are you doing because rain is not doing very well. I had some breathing problems i stayed indoors mostly and i got to tell you i went jogging yesterday but i really dont job with a mask. Yeah i had a mask on. So i had my mask on i went jogging and it wasnt so bad so hopefully i dont have to use the mass today, it was my workout day and almost like surfers. Dairy, you know the surfers, nothing keeps him from the waters iran yesterday and my mask on but the bottom line is i was terrified, i was careful with myself i never wear the
Hannibal Lecter
mask and i did yesterday hopefully it wont be so bad all that you know oh this is a great
Vantage Point
as far as the sunrise. I think all we need right now again to use another pop culture reference and just need 2 humpback whales from the the city of us also that star trek reference for a scifi nerds out there thank you very helpful alright, lets see if well ever are going to get any time today john you know whats interesting john and i dont know for you notices to daryn that because there was so much you know obviously smoking, whatever there. It never got up above it never got even to 70 degrees out of my yesterday it felt cool son got blocked, kind of weird byproduct john its crazy so a lot of models yesterday were showing that were going to reach the 90s inland in those models are pretty consistent based on past weather events. But what we saw yesterday was unprecedented it was something that bay area hasnt quite gotten before. So those models busted by like 30 degrees. So yet temperatures 6070s for warmest yesterday. And it looks like today isnt going to be much factors really havent changed from the same time yesterday winds remains still overnight which means that smoke remained overhead and we have just enough marine layer settled into the bay to keep that smoke just right above the bay itself. So if youre above the bay youre smelling it if youre right next to the bay youre not perceiving it as much when you are definitely getting though is an orange glow from the
Berkeley Hills
this morning as well just showed you air quality is less than ideal even for areas with marine layer where youre not necessarily smelling it doesnt mean that those fine particulates are in the air and that youre not breathing them in some gladwell ran with this mask on if you are heading outside for any sort of work out make sure youre doing the same as him. A
High Pressure
ridge to our north starting to weekend thats the same highpressure ridge that brought us the strong northerly winds that pushed in the smoke yesterday. A second one is building in now know low in here lows would lift the smoke out a second
High Pressure
is going to keep it with us we will see just a very weak on shore flow. Nothing major so fog is only going to intrude right along into the bay meaning that we are likely going to have an orange glow for some bayside areas. Well im anticipating for a lot of a more inland spots its going to have more of a grey look to it we are still dealing with a very dense layer smoke on top of us, so that means like yesterday not going to get a whole lot of sunshine nor heating passing through that smoke, so again most of us are going to be hanging out in the 60s to 70s for daytime highs today which is quite the contrast from where we were to start the week at a 110 degrees and above for some of our inland areas so from day to night it feels like just very different forecast to be closing out this week. Most of our cities as i mentioned in the 70s. I left a couple of 80s on the map only for for this inland spots where we are likely to at least see some maybe just a touch of sunshine at times passing through those clouds not expecting much of it though this is like going to be a very dark day yet again as will tomorrow fog and sun haze in just a mix of orange and gray that youre going to be seeing as you look outside saturday sunday come along with some modest improvements, its going to be a slow go which is little improvements as we make our way into next week were likely to see a little bit more sunshine into next week. Daytime highs will remain cool in the 70s near the bay. A little bit warmer as far as temperatures go into the start of next week. Thats a look at your forecast some slow changes out there, but it looks like we could have some minor improvements into next week over to you robin all right, thank you john, the traffic is picking up around the bay area this morning, the bridges are getting a little busy but still not bad, you have plenty of time to beat the rush which is on the way its got to get heavier for sure we have the bay bridge toll plaza 80 west coming in. Our cars rolling up to the pay gates but no problem so under 20 minutes now to make it off to fremont street, heres the
Richmond Sandra
fell west bound 5. 80 no problems here at the pay gates, an easy trip of 7 minutes to the north bay and we do have roadwork in oakland, we have the same problem yesterday. The some late construction at until maybe 6 oclock thats when he finally picked it up. So this morning, its back you up again 80 south from 9 ad of 2 about. 23rd or so they are still blocking so thats why you have that back up but as i zoom out the rest of the trip looks great the opposite side looks great and you can definitely take 5. 80 and use that as an alternate well check more slow downs coming up in a bit shapes. All right. Thank you very much robin time now is 5. 18 lets get back to our wildfire coverage. The reason for all the smoke now skies weve been seeing. Yesterday and today 3 people understand now dead and several others hurt in butte county after a wildfire there quickly spread. The bear fire is what theyre battling against as part of the north complex fires that began back on august 17th. Were

with the very latest. A lively neighborhoods now deserted all thats left wildlife wandering the empty roads, its scary just over 24 hours. The bear fire has already left its mark on butte county charring cause downing power lines and leaving homes destroyed and one 30 this morning, our foes blow up. This is you become deal, yeah, somebody all saying you need to evacuate now. And her former volunteer firefighter, peter ling didnt hes not taking any chances at all the strangers traders or loan was so its a matter of you know a lot going on the horses and in getting our time. Hes one of thousands of youth county homeowners ordered to evacuate. Feeling suffocated by anxiety of not knowing if i have a home to return to you know you get to live pins and needles this you know is this far for season, the farmers are getting worse. Some families waiting out the flames in the u. S. Center fairgrounds a big blow in the you know behind the mountain when he introduced and wade, so we got out. I have kids i have animals like to come out taking with them all that they can carry and not leaving any life behind once. Hoping to get back to their new normal soon i want to get back home like everybody else. Theres no such thing as normal in 2020 is there. Doesnt seem like it doesnt. Now to the creek fire burning in fresno county. Its now close to a 167,000 acres in size and still 0 contained and forget it broke out last week friday nights were almost a week into this and its still 0 contained. Fire
Officials Say
its destroyed now 360 structures so far. Lets take a look at the containment numbers on all of the fires that are burning around the bay area, the lnu lightning complex fire. Thats the one of the north bay 93 contained right now burning more than 360,000 acres, the s c you complex fires the city in the east bay and the south bay, 96 containment burned almost 400,000 acres the czu lightning complex for san mateo and santa cruz counties, those are 83 contained right now and theyve burned about 86,000 acres and the woodward fire at the
Point Reyes National
seashore marin county is 95 contained. It has choose through almost 5,000 acres. In california firefighters are asking nearly every state in the country to help them battle the flames, cal oh, yes says that even a few weeks ago the state could not get all of the out of state fire engines that it requested through federal programs now california is competing with the resources as other west coast states also have their foal with fire and try to deal with that the fire season is just beginning. Its going to be more houses destroyed more people impacted. As we go into that fall fire season. We have great concerns. To be able meet the demand that we have here in california. Chief marshal says that crews from idaho, new mexico, texas and utah are helping state leaders have asked for help from as far away as canada. Well windblown wildfires are now responsible for at least 2 deaths in oregon. A 12 yearold and his grandmother died and his mother is in

A 12 yearold and his grandmother died and his mother is in
Critical Condition right now at the hospital
Law Enforcement officials are worried there could be more deaths to come. Well take a quick break here the time now is 5. 22 still ahead on the kron 4 morning news a bombshell recording reveals
President Trump intentionally downplayed the seriousness of covid19. Why he says he did it for the country. Plus with so many
Health Concerns because of the smoky skies air purifiers are becoming a hot item becoming harder to find 2 well be ri and were back at 5. 25
President Trump admits he downplayed the threat of covid19 earlier this year, according to a new book by journalist bob woodward, the president was alarmed by the virus back in february. Even as he was telling the country that the coronavirus is no worse than the common flu. And insisted it was under control. An audio recording of that interview was also released. The president told reporters he did that to quote reduce panic. Well, the fact is im a cheerleader for this country i love our country and i dont want people to be frightened. I dont want to create panic as you say, and certainly im not going to that this country or the world into a frenzy. We want to
Show Confidence we want to show strength we want to show strength as a nation. And thats what ive done. President trumps democratic opponent joe biden reacted on twitter writing quote as you see on your screen if donald trump had acted just 2 weeks earlier, 54,000 lives could have been spared in march and april alone instead he downplayed the threat and refused to take action costing lives and sending our economy into a tailspin its an unjustifiable dereliction of duty. Time now 5. 26 a
Homeland Security official says that he was pressured by high ranking officials to censor intelligence reports that the president might disagree with. And that included information about russian interference in us elections. The official who see their brian murphy has filed a whistleblower complaint against dhs and acting secretary chad wolf. He says he was also told to chadge reports to leave out information about
White Supremacists because the president might not like it. Murphy was demoted earlier this year and says that that is because he refused to go along with those requests dhs has not commented. Well today going to be another smoky one unlikely another orange one across the bay
Area Temperatures will remain cool a lot like yesterday to 60s for oakland and welcome back 5. 30 right now the big story is what will it be like today around the bay after yesterdays horrible air quality and dark skies, yes, and people who have allergies know all too well that air like this makes it tough to breathe and nobody knows that better than our home. Reyna harvey need to go to her, i know maker come out what a force her to talk but that rain and we are a good morning. Me how are things for you this morning. Oh i dont know thought right after that okay wearing one of those mass because she like a lot of people has allergies yeah and they really flare up yesterday so it looks like shes giving us this very nice shopping. Im kind of hoping shes getting it from the with a nice fresh air recirculating and theyre absolutely but weve got our
Team Coverage all over the bay area. Weve got
Sarah Stinson standing by for shes up in sausalito actually in the north bay giving us a view of what conditions are like there thats kind of what were doing this mornings are sending all our reporter crews out just to kind of give us an update on what the situation is. Before so you know what youre into your head for as you can see how it smells to yes smoke yet. While we got another dark shot. And there again we cant hear her, but we can see her. Is the thing is at this hour the morning, its 5. 31. Forget that shot yet it is 5. 31 and you can see from all the cameras and thats a normal time for darkness, its around 00 30am in the morning yesterday that everything started going wait a minute wheres the sun i think sunrise about 6. 45. So just a little more than an hour from now we should start to see if were going to be in store for another day i think we have a livelihood john say 2 and john youre saying if you really might see this again it will be like this. So heres san jose and this would be san jose and santa seriously i. Yeah, i mean not a lot changing as first actors go from yesterday, yeah, everythings lining up that its likely to be another orange, do you see what what do you see in this shot john do you see that as fog or smoke or can you tell so that right there is definitely more so haze but also we do have some marine layer that reach san jose. So right there in san jose in right along the bay front likely to have a bit of marine layer, the spear you the smoky smell right now you have to head do is head up to saratoga lets gatos and youre likely probably spell this talk about him, but you told us yesterday that would because the relive that was the whole reason we never got light out yeah, no so that marine layer just complimented the smoke and thats why it was so smoke just blocked out all the light so that only 9 time almost all day it was it was crazy. I know is eerie just
Walking Around and seeing everyone looking up at the skies. So were i did take some pictures robin said make sure you dont drive and i mean this is this morning guys in berkeley right here so already a really orange glow in this shot, this is a live view right now. What you do have is some cities will city lights out in the distance just that light alone reflecting on some of the haze that we do have is enough to give this a shot a bit of a soaring just blow this morning and as we make our way through the morning were likely to see a lot more of that so even though air feels pretty good for some of our bayside areas were not really spelling the smoke is much what we do have is active. Ashfall so theres ash falling from there cloud cover and smoke that is sitting right above us and as youre stepping outside you are breathing that in so even though you might not sabella smoke. Air quality is still having a big impact this morning. So if youve got a mask. Weve been wearing in many ways definitely dont forget it today, 50s and 60s for your current temperatures with alameda oakland, san
Mateo Hayward all the low 60s right now berkeley
San Francisco in conquered egypt, 58 degrees will remain cool into the afternoon and were going to remain calm into the afternoon to yesterday we had strong northerly winds that push smoke into the bay. Then these winds calm down and stayed calm during overnight hours that means that smoke is still sitting right overhead and were going to remain with that smoke through the day so this was the prevailing wind direction early yesterday wildfires in
Northern California that are actively still burning pushing all that smoke right across the bay and of course over the rest of the state to even out over the pacific in fact if you look at the pacific. Theres a thin veil of smoke all the way out hundreds of miles of out as that continues to settle down any sort of fog that pushes through the next few days is likely to have smoke imbedded in it too. So regardless of marine layer or any sort of inland air were all going to be in the midst of whats going to be less than ideal air quality so if you have plans on venturing out too much this weekend. You may want to hold off at least another week until we start to mix some of the smoke and haze out of the region. We are likely to see hazy sunshine through much of the day today peeking out a little bit more sunshine later in the day, but most of us not going to see much of that 80s for just a couple inland spots, most of the bay today holding on to 60s and 70s. Thats your forecast robin has an updated look at traffic i do indeed and it continues to pick up around the bay area looks so different right now at the bay bridge toll plaza, the last time i took a peek we didnt have any delays and now check this out a full house here. At the pay gates are back of spilling beyond 8. 80 all the way out to west grand and even when you get through the pay gates, its going to be slow up the incline toward the tunnel as well so 22 minutes and growing for your average drive into
San Francisco. Its a complete opposite at the
Richmond Sandra fell no backup to worry about here 7 minutes into the north bay and our
Road Construction finally cleared and stocked up traffic 2 days in a row, leaving downtown oakland rolling south. But its gone so now to get tripped southbound and northbound never backed up 5. 80 looks good. Thats wide open as well just a really quick peak in
Los Altos Hills motorcycle accidents still active southbound to 80 or make that northbound 2. 80 at sand hill thats clearing from the left lane but youre getting by without a delay darya james back to you all right, lets continue our
Team Coverage of the poor air quality and will tran now back on
Treasure Island we go and well whats the view like for you this morning. It is still hazy let me step out of the way and show you the conditions yes, it is dark so were not getting a fall picture until sunrise. But you can clearly see cars are coming in going off in the distance thats the bay bridge. Judge for yourself james and darya looks a little foggy right but im sure that is not fog. That is the hazy conditions. Ive never thought i would say this but im actually kind of glad that it is gusty at times this morning at least on
Treasure Island at least a gets that smoke moving at least the the hazy circulating because he was sitting on top of us so badly yesterday and yes, it did cause. Some breathing problems for me not so bad right now, but then again were still very early in the newscast, check with me at 9 oclock and see if im gagging or not. But right now it looks pretty good and heres the cloud cover or should i say smoke cover smoke ash cover so well see once a sunrise we were caught off guard yesterday lease, i was until sunrise, so we are probably in for another mirror like day from yesterday back to you all right, thanks a lot. Well those smoky skies cause some delays over the airport in
San Francisco. And confusion for people who are coming in for a landing looking out. And. Seeing this. At that hour of the day and theyre thinking what even a commercial
Airline Pilot laura and settler. She was thrown by it and explain that its a lot like flying and fog. We have low
Visibility Conditions like smoke or fog which is our instruments as guidance for navigation and stage situational we do what what more can happen in 2020. Right is this the end of times. The air force lit up in blue, but the rest of the world in the bay area look like the giants right orange and black and travelers from like denver or they landed for example we talked to some of them. Yesterday afternoon from
Southern California they landed and they thought they were in a different world too. Wow all right well another problem thats arising was that
Hardware Stores are selling out of air purifiers which a lot of people try to get their hands on they just cant keep up with demand its been pretty challenging, especially for
Small Business owners. Since n 95 masks meant to filter out 95 airborne particles have been off the shelf since the pandemic started. Try to get these are pure fires in stock is also just as difficult this morning. Weve got quick little bit here from john bombs, hes a professor at
U C Berkeley School of
Public Health and he says the smoke. Its going to be challenging for people with preexisting heart and lung disease and to be ready for more bad air days ahead. Most of the quantities or 0 and. For a lot of items theyre negative 10 day of 20 upwards of negative 200. For popular items that we used to be able to get pretty quickly and pretty regularly. Better call on the from wildfires which are driven by
Climate Change so. Anybody need convincing that
Climate Change is real. It should be it. Well while it may be difficult to find air purifiers in
Stores Online seems to be your safest bet you just have to wait for it to be delivered. Well take a break or 5. 39 still ahead on the kron 00 04am morning news, the chp is issuing words of warning for bay area drivers who may be distracted by the unusual look of the sky well these days we need each other more than ever. Thats why aarp created community connections. An online tool to find or create a mutual aid group, get help, or help those in need. Stay connected, with aarp. To deliver your packages. And the peace of mind of knowing that important things like your prescriptions, and ballots, are on their way. Every day, all across america, well keep delivering for you. The orangey red sky was a mesmerizing attraction actually for drivers distraction too. He driving around like the temptation was i admit it you want to dig pictures. Or even video while youre behind the wheel and the chp says of course you should not do that. They say that its just like driving at night you need to have your headlights on and before you leave make sure the windshield is and cleared and which in this case means ashy all over the place i had a layer actually this morning. I as freighted yeah its going to be carless discussed it now looks like it could be another day of all of that john yeah, a lot of today might not be quite as brilliantly oranges yesterday but we are certainly still in the midst of a dense layer smoke. Thats going make for darker skies that were accustomed to is pretty
Cool Temperatures too. 60s for open in san we are back 5. 46 is the time and heres a live look from our embarcadero camera in
San Francisco where now it looks like any normal day right just dark with a little bit of haze out there, well see what happens once the sun comes up and see for in for another day of orange light all around the bay. Well yeah we dont know things are going to be weird yeah until like 7 yeah probably and then if its like 8, 9, 10 i was going home at 1030. Headley was just flatout weird. Yes, crazy times we had just reached the point percent are with a look at what hes at least seeing right now for todays forecast john yeah guys i do anticipate today will have a different look to it than yesterday did but i think its going to be another weird one regardless of how orange or how gray those skies end up being. Because we still do have that smoky layer overhead and we still do have a marine layer that sitting right across the bay itself. So were bound to be seeing some skies that at least dont look normal you can see out there as cfo that we do have noticeable hayes at the airport this morning and obviously that orange lasted all day yesterday. You did see a lessening of the brilliance of the orange later on in the day, but it was still a pretty orange to yellow sunset last night as for air quality, those of us closer to the bay are looking at less bad conditions while the further inland you get the worse it gets now, thanks to murray in there you might not be smelling smoke right along the bay itself but i still have a singapore conditions because there has been ash fall overnight and as you are stepping outside. Theres potential of you breathing that in its not something you want to do that can be really bad for you. So weve been
Wearing Masks anyway today of all days do not forget that mask, the highpressure ridge that had been built up bringing us the strong northerly wind that pushed the smoke into our area is gradually pushing north. We have a second
High Pressure ridge building in now what this means is a reversal of those offshore winds now were going to have a very light onshore wind. This is going to push cool air into the bay helping to cool things off even further you can see that very light wind pushing through the golden gate this morning. Not really much of a wind though so any sort of winds that we do have is not enough to be pushing smoke out of the region and with
High Pressure in place airs just going to gradually continue to sink that means that smoke is going to gradually continue to sink air quality is likely to worsen over the next couple of days. These and 60s for your highs at the coast today it will be a cool one and a pretty overcast one with dark skies anticipated yet again with so much darkness up ahead were not going have a lot of sunlight reaching the ground to heat us up thats why daytime highs are so unseasonably cool and so much cooler than they have been the vast majority of us are barely going to be picking in the 70s i still do have a few of our inland areas in the low 80s as well see some shun sunshine making it through those clouds just from time to time for most inland areas. But as i mentioned most of us are staying cool in the 60s to 70s today as for tomorrow similar temperatures we will also be seeing similar conditions as fog and cloud cover remains through your friday. After that i do anticipate that youll get hinson hints of more sunshine day today as just as time passes more mixing liqueur and more and more of that wildfire smoke will have a chance to be pushed out of the region, but its going to be a slow go getting rid of the smoke so as for now dont anticipate doing too much over this weekend at least outdoors thats your forecast weve got robin in the
Traffic Center robin i hope you have better news than we do and whether i do i do indeed we have no hot spots we just have a little bit of fog out there thats really the only problem right now we have the same issue of course yesterday except it was orange, lets head over to the golden gate. Were checking in on one oh one chp and says it a dense fog advisory once again for travel across the span so just take it easy out there headlights and wipers will be needed. You are at 18 minutes in which is right on time rolling south into
San Francisco off to the bay bridge, a big backup which is completely normal but its already through the maze and now all connectors are solid so quite slow into
San Francisco. Your drive time is on the rise at 19 minutes to fremont street and still no delays at the
Richmond Sandra fell bridge, its still easy going here 7 minutes thats pretty quick from the pay gates off to one on one. Yes, id strongly were going to look back in 10 years certainly 20 probably definitely 50 and say wow you know 2020 that was a crazy year, but i miss it. Strong statement from environment expert despite the record breaking. Record acres that have burned in the wildfire in the deadly tropical storms that weve seen this year environmental experts say it is going to get worse before it gets better. Well experts say the trajectory of worsening disasters and
Climate Change from the burning of coal oil and gas is clear and basic physics. Buyer weve always had wildfires right weve always had slots thats thats always happened. But weve really not just yourself up to the and were seeing the expression and what we see today prolonged drought to basically dry trees and fuel for these fires its just being born out. California close to 2. 3 million acres have burned so far this year which. Is a new record unfortunately. Or lets turn our attention to lighter news, baseball. We begin with the as to bounce back against the astros with a win at the coliseum with taken to the 7th inning tommy la stella getting a hit to left field this would allow 2 runners to score tied the game up and i know little tie breakers save in the 9th inning and there were 2 runners on for ramon there you see him he gets one down the leftfield well left center field. No one there to catch it and the as with a walkoff 3 to 2 win with that hit final game of the series is this afternoon at 1240 but the colors were wrong because it was orange and black everywhere around the bay right even for the in the skies were green. But check out. Yeah check out
Giants Stadium in
San Francisco man was in that crazy at oracle park. It was like they did it on purpose and it was fitting it turned out to be a good game a blowout win for the giants bats were hot. Giants sweep the mariners 10 to one final score. The giants have now won 5 in a row and they go on the road next playing the padres tonight and at though california as a whole has had a lot of wildfires near skies is definitely think its like that san diego is a job is it that i was bad at that yeah okay, but we can expect more smoke down there and more one so saffo where the smoke caused weird looks from travelers yesterday. I dont think there are any delays number check it was yes, theres not that many flights. These yes volume solo which is so youre to celebrate it its hard to tell a little bit well see how the day shapes up or if the day shapes up in about it like maybe an hour. So youre a
Small Business, or a big one. You were thriving, but then. Oh. Ah. Okay. Plan, pivot. How do you bounce back . You dont, you bounce forward, with serious and reliable internet. Powered by the largest gig
Speed Network in america. But is it secure . Sure its secure. And even if the power goes down, your connection doesnt. So how do i do this . You dont do this. We do this, together. Bounce forward, with comcast business. Welcome back 5. 55 getting close to 06 00am now and we are going to see sunrise within the next hour which will be the moment of truth whats it going to look like when the sun does come up there likely will be gray spots and maybe even a few reddish orange spots as well im not anticipating the brilliant orange like we had yesterday but our berkeley cam is picking up a little bit of that so well see when we get there it is not going to be a normal day that is for sure its going to be darker and cooler with 50s and 60s for your current temperatures hayward and fremont each at 64 degrees. Redwood city at a cool 65 right now big cool down for inland areas, calm winds across the bay, not a lot of wind overnight to be pushing smoke out so it is still sitting right overhead meaning skies will be dark temperatures cool and conditions just not normal. James. All right, thank you john at 5. 56 well take a break but coming up in the next hour another day of hazy potentially orange area skies. On tap as were looking at another 12 conditions like this stretching into the weekend. Well have
Team Coverage on what its like outside right now coming up and share more of these amazing pictures crop for viewers have been sending in all day youre watching at home. Morning news at 6. Good morning and thanks for joining us. Im darya folsom and im

Thank you to all the viewers who participated in expanding our coverage giving his views of these weird orange sky moment, just me or does that make you want to go out. Double check what planet i woke up on yeah i and youre waking up okay, so its 6 oclock now i dont think its going to be off putting. In til maybe 6. 45 and we are still in darkness yeah and john actually has the answer and its not good know and weve got reporters all over the bay area too so weve got john as part of our
