Back to the winds guys which is the changing factor here thats resulting in that uptick in fire danger because we all know its not feeling quite as oppressively hot as it was last week. Still hot enough and still dry enough though that when you add in those winds. Were back to that familiar territory which is this fire danger looking outside from see church hour. It is nice and clear all the way out to the east bay, a very thin marine layer this morning that isnt really going to be blocking out anybodys view. We have 2 rounds of advisories here the first which is in the north bay in deep red which were in the midst of right now these peach areas well these are fire weather watches that are likely to become red flag warnings later on this week ahead of what will be another round of winds later on as for the winds that were in right now thats the north bay wind event were talking about upper moran and sonoma counties all of lake county much of napa and solano counties. Lit up in these red flag warnings as gusts of wind today could result in 25 to 40 Miles Per Hour gusts at our peak elevations on those mountain sides. So winds maybe come this morning but look at where were heading this afternoon widespread breezier conditions to be expected. Especially in the north bay, so this is where that fire danger kick it really kicks into gear. Tomorrow morning we briefly see things coming down before an uptick of winds again on into wednesday afternoon pretty similar to todays this time though with those red flag warnings likely to be pushing into effect for the east bay and Santa Cruz Mountains too. And then after that we work our way into thursday which is likely to be the breezy us day in this forecast with the most widespread Power Outages and potentially the highest a fire danger so a few days ahead of us here were all going to have having to be on high alert, especially if you do live in fireprone areas. 40s 50s for most of our current temperatures, its a cool and relatively calm start to a morning that will eventually lead into these higher fire danger days so do enjoy. The brief nice conditions that we do have later on today not near as hot as it was last week but still warm with mid 80s in san jose low 80s in oakland and upper 70s in San Francisco. Rob. All right. Thank you john lets check in on the traffic. Were looking good and moving well on our bridges so far this morning, the traffic is definitely picking up but we havent had any major issues are major hot spots that you need to worry about so come on and heres a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza your trip into San Francisco. Its going to be a little busy of course we have a line yes thats completely normal. Its often on from west grand through the tolls up the incline but thats about it under 15 minutes for your average drive time into San Francisco, heres 92 and its always our busiest bridge in the Early Morning hours and we see the traffic here coming to a crawl west of the toll plaza, but no major issues up and over the high rise through foster city san mateo one oh one traffic is moving well so far to the peninsula. Well check more bridges coming up back to you thanks a lot rob and now communities in the north they again face that critical fire weather, no red flag warning now in effect through tomorrow morning. We have kron 4 Sarah Stinson. Live in napa county with what we need to know sarah. Yeah, were experiencing some extremely dry conditions as well as some wind gusts expected to hit the north bay, those combined is why the National Weather service has issued this red flag warning it went into effect late last night and will continue until at least tomorrow morning at 8 oclock take a look at this maps you can see in the pink all the areas that are affected by this you can see up here in the north a wind gusts could be up to 40 Miles Per Hour per hour are in napa and sonoma counties, stronger winds are expected late at night in the mountain peaks in Higher Elevation areas that combined with extremely low humidity and some warmer temperatures could cause a fire to break out. So that is the concern here were well into october hoping we of already seen the worst of fire season. But unfortunately these continue these conditions continue to cause these great this great fire danger and that is why that red flag warning has been put into place we caught up with the santa rosa fires assistant fire marshal about the potential for another fire to spark. And so a lot of those areas have reestablished theres brush their seasonal grasses theres definitely the threat for a fire moving back to those areas again. So that is why we continue to ask our community to heed to the warnings and be prepared for another fire potentially an area that has already burned in last several years. And thats most unfortunate part those who have already been through this could have to go through it again and thats always the scary part about all you know still recovering in then having fire still be a threat now the red flag warning is supposed to end as i said wednesday morning, however, of fire weather watch goes into effect wednesday and goes until friday, so this is something well be talking about all week long best to be prepared. Get that go bag ready if you dont have it ready all already so make sure you are prepared. Reporting live in napa Sarah Stinson back to. All right. Thank you very much sara that red flag morning forced the closure of one road in the north bay, the red county Sheriffs Office closed Fairfax Bolinas road between the metal club and highway one in bolinas they dont want anybody there because it could possibly start start a fire that closure is going to last until tomorrow morning. And the high fire danger also means the pga need might turn off your power. Now thousands of people could be impacted including people in well across all 6 bay area counties thats what we have kron fours will tran standing by live for us in Alameda County with more on the story will. We chose Alameda County because among all the counties this one appears to be the hardest hit as far as the heart of the bay area approximately 3500 customers well be in the dark if its the worst Case Scenario i mean castor valley look at all the trees right behind me, heres a breakdown of the 3 major counties in the heart of the bay area with Alameda County sitting at around possibly as you can see right there 3500 customers in the dark starting on wednesday night. Now Alameda County not the only one the north bay they have suffered dearly over the past couple years with all those north bay fires napa sonoma and solano counties you also will possibly be in the dark pg and e they say this latest round could impact about 50,000 customers and 19 counties, including to tribal communities. It is the new law the land so to speak because they are doing all of this to try to prevent another round of wildfires. We are now psps watch which means that pg e has activated its Emergency Operations center and the psps event happening in midweek about thursday morning in the bay area. The likelihood has increased. So whats going to happen is a lot of people have signed up for pga neil alerts. So if you are one of the possible people in the dark they will send you a text to give you a heads up so you can prepare for it and there are a lot of people who dont have text alerts. With pg and e they will send people out to physically knock on the doors to try to tell you heads up by the way you could be in the dark as well. Once the danger so their goal. According to pg e and they say dont hold them against it but their goal is to try to turn on your power within 12 hours. After the danger pass. Back to you all right, thanks a lot. Well. And make sure to download the kron 4 in kron on apps for the very latest developments on this red flag warning the potential power shut offs that could follow you can download both of from your app store choice. Both are free. And having friends over at all and youre kicking my or your home. Yes still ahead on the kron 00 04am morning news, a bizarre outburst caught on camera in the south bay. Why one family claims this womans actions. Were obviously very disturbing. Were also seeing negotiations in the senate as the deadline for lawmakers to reach a coronavirus stimulus deal is quickly approaching 2 nights, well give you an update there from washington and then President Trump lashes out of the nations top Infectious Disease expert during a Campaign Stop in arizona. Hear what he had to say. And today were starting off nice and cool relatively calm. This morning winds pick up this afternoon and temperatures a bit warmer than yesterday resulting in a higher fire danger more in your forecast ahead. And if you plan on heading into San Francisco this morning get out there early because we already have lots of crowding out of a rut self was a heres a live look at a long liback from west grand leading up toward the incline well check more bridges coming up. 6. 12 right now want to get a look at the weather fire was are they john so whats it looking like for today, yeah, definitely higher fire danger than what weve had the past couple of days, weve enjoyed a nice little cool down from the heat of last week which is actually going to continue. But as winds become more of an issue thats where the concern really comes into play as far as this morning goes a thin marine layer having student in across the bay and making for a cool morning. You can actually see that thin layer of fog right over the east bay right now winds may be calm right now but look at where were heading this afternoon an uptick in wind speeds all across the bay area and especially the northway being more north day being problematic. We briefly see winds declining midday tomorrow before an uptick in them yet again into the latter part of the day on wednesday and then thursday actually going to be our windiest day of this forecast so we have 2 rounds of fire weather watches taking effect these peach areas actually not in effect right now this is for that latter part of the forecast from wednesday into thursday as for today, a red flag warnings and upper elevations of marine and sonoma counties all of lake county much of napa county and then the northern portion of Solano County these areas seeing are highest fire danger today with winds gusting as high as 25 to 40 Miles Per Hour, especially for those mountain tops thats why its pretty isolated to those upper elevations so be mindful of that if you are in these fire danger areas we are in the midst of it all over again as for todays daytime highs that will be 60s and 70s for coastal areas, including San Francisco. Well a bit warmer than yesterday for bayside cities burlingame 84 degrees today, foster city in palo alto each 82 for todays daytime highs further south on the peninsula in the south bay you start to see some mid to upper 80s which is warmer than yesterday by a few degrees. 80s for most of the east bay, but a few exceptions like danville walnut creek and concord officially breaking into the 90s. While berkeley enrichment Still Holding on to the upper 70s after a bit of fog this morning that youre seeing right overhead Fairfield Vacaville see bill each also in the low 90s with 60s at the coast and 80s from sandra fell on a one oh one to santa rosa. Tomorrows temperatures not quite as hot as 2 days but really no big difference just yet. We do see fire weather watch is likely to become red flag warnings for a lot of the bay area from wednesday thursday into early friday. Friday you can start to breathe a sigh of relief as winds calm down and temperatures really begin to cool down by the weekend ahead of us its only 70s inland with 60s by the in the coast. Robin all right. Thank you lets check in on your morning commute which is picking up we have some heavier traffic out there around the bay area starting off with a bridge check, lets take a look at 80 west into San Francisco. Theres your line and its very long and said some of the cash lanes and the carpool lanes of stocking up from the atv overcrossing and its spilling all the way back to west grand so this is the start to your morning drive make sure you get out there early at least well have any problems on 80 right now what about 92. Heres a live look your trip across the 70 oh bridge a long line heading to the peninsula as well it starts at the toll plaza and its going to continue over to the high rise before traffic this out but no problems into the peninsular on to the peninsula. Foster city and send the tail the richmond sandra fell west 5. 80. We have more traffic leading up to the toll plaza here but it hasnt started backing up yet so thats a good sign. You still have time to beat the russian to the north bay and we have one more bridge and thats the golden gate, the foggy golden gate bridge, its been covered in fog all morning. So chp decided to issue a dense fog advisory, which means need to be extra careful here across the span but 25 minutes rolling south novato to San Francisco back to you thanks a lot robin 6, 1614 days away from the november election. But we let him do what he wants to do gets a lot of television he loves being on television will let him do it. Sometimes he says things are a little bit off and they get built up, but fortunately, but hes a nice guy i like him. But hes called a lot of bad calls he said dont wear a mask.
