Im darya folsom and im James Fletcher weve got lots to get to were going to get that in short order first though we do want to start with checks of weather and traffic and well start with the forecast as we take a quick look the weather maps. The radar perspective shows us that we do have relatively Clear Conditions here across the bay area as you can see little moisture to our north and thats all in advance of that system that john was talking about that would be heading our way by this weekend so few showers possible were going to keep you updated on that as that that continues to move as we zoom out the view here to little bit youll see the larger system really impacting far Northern California, the oregon coast and obviously up in the washington to you actually see some heavier showers being reported up there thats that moisture train from the pacific thats going to be impacting us as we head into a friday night and into saturday as well so thats kind of what were expecting here at least in the short term lets take another look here these are the temperatures will expect later on today and as you can see its going to be on the cooler side weve got temperatures in the 60s for San Francisco low 60s at that really all corners of the bay are going to be the low 60s to upper 50s with 61 in San Francisco not much warmer down in morgan hill 62 there in the east bay 62 degrees as well for places like livermore and for concord and across the north bay were looking at temperatures only maxing out in the upper 50s were talking about rosa 59 for nevado and thats kind of the way its going to be today with cloud cover overhead in advance of those storms so thats what were dealing with here at least on the temperature front today, were looking at conditions that will stay relatively cool and mild as we head deeper into the weekend and into next week with temperatures coming up a little bit as we head into next week. But dont expect it to warm up by a whole lot fact, heres what were looking at as we take a look at your extended forecast. Highs will probably be in upper 60s to low 70 degree range for the foreseeable future, were looking at 71 on sunday 72 on monday and then maybe if were lucky 73 on tuesday, so certainly going to feel more like fall as were getting a closer towards the end of november and approaching thanksgiving. Lows overnight still going to be dropping down into the 40s. It wont be as bad as we maybe perhaps into early next week but look at that for thursday of next week our temperatures for the bay will drop down into the upper 30s once again. So heres are final role for you showing in the low temperatures again along the coast yeah conditions chilly in the overnight hours with Cool Conditions for the afternoon thats kind of how the weather is shaping up. Time now is 5 04 and our top story parts of the bay area are rolling back their reopening being more just restrictive because of an increase in covid hospitalizations and cases around the bay area in the east bay, the rollbacks are in Contra Costa County theyve gone from orange to the more restrictive red tier, San Francisco still in the yellow thats minimal. But out of an abundance of caution. They are putting some restrictions back into place kron fours will tran is live in San Francisco with details. Today San Francisco as you talked about an abundance of caution you can see this restaurant right behind me. Were all along the embarcadero they are not allowed to allow people inside. Because they dont want to see the covid19 cases continuing to rise actually since october second they have seen an explosion of cases this after San Francisco for quite some time. It was actually doing really well, but they have seen an explosion of 250 over the span of several weeks which is why they are doing this take a look at your screen. They are not allowing people inside the bars, the restaurants Indoor Dining. They are rolling back any High School Activities as far as being inside they are just fearful that if they dont get the upper hand on it now it could really get out of control in the weeks and the months ahead, especially with the holidays. Theyre limiting capacity as far as people inside the movie theaters and gyms to about 25 . No more than 50 people at a time. They dont want people to come in close contact, theyre not blaming anybody. They already said because covid19 is such a fluid situation that they did expect for it to go up and down unfortunately at this particular time it is up. What is down however, james and darya is a revenue for the businesses they were hoping to at the very least get people inside Outdoor Dining but with the rain headed our way tonight. According to a lot of Restaurant Owners they are really hurting now. What with a very small so we can only do the bays first and then the next step is to build a groove and even that was to have to say, but. And then i dont know what to do if it rains that mean i will have a name or die in business we do have a roof on our parklet but. Outside of the rain comes one direction and not going down it comes to the sides people are going to still going to get away and then we have a parklet but outside dining we dont have covers the normal on the sidewalks is going to really challenging. So why is that important because they are already hurting so any dollars coming into the restaurant says obviously very necessary but with the rain tonight and possibly over the next several days they can desperately need that money but they will not be probably seeing it at this time, especially with covid19 always lurking around the corner as far as San Francisco, they have humanity about this they understand because of what theyre doing rolling back a lot of the things that they were hoping to open up today and over the next several weeks james, and area that they said that they will look into possibly spreading 4 Million Dollars to those restaurants desperately looking for money back to you. All right, thanks a lot. Well. Well, San Francisco Unified School District is expanding on its efforts to inspect more classrooms before some in person classes resume in january. The district says it will partner with the city of San Francisco to get these inspections done. Now the district has so far inspected 20 of its schools, but School Officials say that an additional 65 still need to be assessed before the youngest students and other vulnerable groups can return. Inspections include making sure that windows are working checking handwashing stations as well as inspecting classroom lights too. In the north bay Solano County is getting ready to roll back reopening next week possibly joining sonoma county. In the most restrictive purple tier. If this after an outbreak of coronavirus that happen from halloween parties and family gatherings. The recent outbreak in Solano County reached almost 100 cases a day, a peak that hasnt been seen since early summer. The county needs to report fewer than 31 cases a day to stay out of that restrictive purple tier but county supervisor. They believe that it says still a disconnect when it comes to preventing the spread of covid. I just that state would target where the problem is you know we all need to do better job communicating with the public and our bodies get more now therefore they get through this economically we weve got to be smart and work together. Another supervisor suggest the county pay for tv ads and billboards to encourage people to wear masks and socially distance. Time now is 5. 10 and less than a week after reopening their rides and other attractions, the Santa Cruz Beach boardwalk is closing down again the county moved back to the read here earlier in the week. The rides were exclusive to Santa Cruz County residents. So only they were allowed to use them. But now everybody is going to have to wait longer guests with reservations youll automatically get a refund. Well the big story this morning, california has eclipsed more than a million covid19 cases its the second state to do so texas was the first california has recorded now more than 19,000 deaths and here in the bay area there are more than a 124,000 recorded cases with more than 1800 deaths. All right well again we continue to follow the very latest with the coronavirus uptick that were seeing here in california and across the country as well so more on that to come. Dan kerman takes a closer look. This is what San Francisco looked like in march deserted streets following a covid19 lockdown order is that same kind of shut down in the nations future. During an interview this week a member of president elect joe bidens Coronavirus Taskforce floated the idea. Doctor Michael Osterholm said we could lock down for 4 to 6 weeks and if we did that we could drive the numbers down like theyve done in asia like they did in new zealand and australia. I cant see a National Lockdown that everybody goes back to where. We were in march doctor Robert Wachter who chairs you see San Franciscos department of medicine says some form of lockdown may be needed in certain places in the midwest and the dakotas where covid19 is out of control if there you know encouraging people to wear masks if youre going to a big crowd. I mean come on its its its november, Everybody Needs to be wearing a mask there should not be big they should be shutting down bars they should be shutting down Indoor Dining at restaurants, but wachter says while cases may be going in the wrong direction in the bay area. They are not nearly bad enough to require that same sort of lockdown here in San Francisco. We have had a 153 deaths from covid since the since march since this thing started if you took our numbers and you extrapolated them to the whole country. There would have been about 60,000 deaths rather than 240,000. So 180,000 lives would be saved. The main difference in San Francisco for the rest the country is nearly universal masking. If there was to be a lockdown Business Leaders say the federal government must provide wages for out of work employees and provide greater support for Small Business owners than just a ppp loan. You need to cover things like rent. Payroll but also insurance overhead and inventory we have Small Businesses that have been stocking up all year. The cell during the Winter Holiday season number one it take that away from them or even take away part of their revenue away from them because of the loss of the traffic need to be able to accommodate that when you go colony back from the federal government. Again experts here in the bay area favor a more regional approach not this universal lockdown believes in universal they recommend his mask wearing. In San Francisco dan kerman kron 4 news. Switch that whether for one 2nd. But yes showers across Northern California right now we are seeing the pacific northwest, washington. And we should currently here in just one 2nd. Showing up in my other monitor if we can do that if not then were going to show this form really showing some rain too. 5. 19 right now and San Franciscos union square is starting to look a little bit like christmas. Several shops started putting up their holiday merchandise and displays, youd hardly know it though because theres still a bunch of plywood blocking the business windows they are boarded up 2 weeks ago as a precaution. Before the president ial election. It is been more than a week now since joe biden was declared the winner, but President Trump continues to refuse to concede many Business Owners are hesitant to take down that plywood. There could be some uncertainty you know if the president contest the election so we just try to protect ourselves do have people know that the stores are open down here. About 10 to 15 shops already have taken down their barricades and more are expected to follow suit. But. Some are still braced for trouble and they say they might stay on alert until january. Well now is the time when food banks start to prepare holiday meals for those in need but some food banks are struggling to meet the demand the Alameda County food bank says the number of people needing food has doubled from this time last year. Back right now Food Bank Volunteers are helping to serve about 70,000 people each day and that number is only expected to get larger. We have never seen numbers like we have seen. You know this year and we expect as we head deeper into november and december close to the holidays. Were probably going to see the longest lines weve ever experienced. Now the Alameda County food bank says that its in dire need right now financial help. Its been operating without any federal assistance since july, its also looking for volunteers, so if youre interested reach out. Meanwhile happening tonight walnut creek residents will have to go a little further for dmv services the office on North Broadway will permanently close at 5 oclock tonight. The dmv says that closures because of well the office lease is expiring and its not being renewed nearby field dmv offices are in concord pittsburgh. And pleasanton. Time now is 5. 21 and were going to take a break well be right back here on a friday morning to get you through with the latest news weather and traffic and well be right back and heres a live shot of sfo you can see looks pretty clear out there. And were looking at a pretty nice day of that rain is supposed to roll in tomorrow morning you might get wet, but the whole weekend is not going to be a 5. 24 and the big story that were following this morning is the increase in covid cases and hospitalizations around the bay you can see on this map that we are getting worse in the bay area moving from minimal to moderate moderate to substantial in the east bay, that means rollbacks in restrictions. James yeah, Contra Costa County, a big concern for a lot of folks as you can see its been rolled back into the red tier from orange. And standing by for us this morning with more on the rollbacks and the impact its going to have on businesses and restaurants and the like with kron fours reyna harvey in walnut creek now with the latest reyna. Yeah there are a lot of changes that are happening right now you can see behind me there are some people actually in line i hear the new playstation is coming out tomorrow so people are going to be shopping at the different stores, but theyre going to have a lot of restrictions that theyre going to have to originally in the orange here. Now currently in the rant. So there a lot of changes that are going to be happening and its all because county officials are trying their best to keep people safe they want to take preventative measures they want to make sure that they are doing everything that they can to keep people safe out here throughout Contra Costa County. So a couple of things like to target behind me 50 capacity, lets start with that Retail Stores. No matter where you go wherever you are theyre going to roll that back to 50 capacity indoor malls, okay that is well as well as in door food court areas. Thats at 25 capacity then moving into Office Locations if youre working in the air. Theyre going to also make sure that you have to work from home right now so thats a big one Office Workers out there if you or at facility there making sure that people are operating remotely as of right now now Higher Education in lectures and gatherings. Thats down 25 capacity, gyms and fitness centers, you know they were opening back out we were out here not too long ago live one of the gyms thats bag down to 10 capacity indoor parks bowling alleys and Indoor Entertainment Centers have to close all tog
