It all started right before 2. 30, yesterday afternoon near san joses east earn foothills in the uncooperative and excuse me, unincorporated area of santa clara county. Now it called out a total of 70 fire officials from both San Jose Fire Department and cal fire. Now the teams used aircraft to drop water and retardant to take out this brush. Thankfully, they were able to take out all the fire near those homes that were threatened off of clayton road and via to step do love this stuff in the alum, rock area. Now one homeowner has been in the area for about 45 years. He says its about the worst fire that hes seen so far. But back out here live, you can see crews are still here really trying to wrap things up. I just spoke with one of the officials who says that theyre going to probably be out here for the rest of the day. You know, i would say theres probably about 5 or 6 fire trucks here right now. Weve got a couple water tanks out here and so on. So were going to chat with some neighbors here on this property in see what they have to say. Behind the home that and were talking about live here starting on wednesday morning about 120 homes at the time had to evacuate by wednesday afternoon because they found boxes and boxes of chemicals in a shed behind a home and that home it would belong to a man who died and he the neighbors say was a chemistry professor. And so they found all of these volatile chemicals and had to go through them to make sure it was safe for the neighborhood. Products with. That were explosives. Whats oxidizer. Ys. As things of that nature. So they were pretty much concern about everything in the building. They didnt know theyre of in bottles or rontainers that were not labeled. You can see the red cross got involved to try to help people who are displaced. They had to go through all of these chemicals that were they thought there for years. A lot were stored improperly and could have had reactions that could have been dangerous. So they let everybody back in except for again, those 5 homes are still off limits. The family of an 8 yearold boy who was hit by a bullet on a bay area highway says their son is paralyzed, but that hes doing ok, he was hit in cross fire in the east bay when the shooting happened last month on eastbound 5. 80, near harrison street oakland. The inaugural class is made up of 8 young adults who over the past 6 months were paid to train and work parttime with Department Public works.
