Heres that mid span portion of the bridge. 2 lanes are blocked. Look at drive times 160 minutes. Well, over an hour, some telling folks stay away from the san mateo bridge. You see a lot of people stand on 8. 80, heading down to the dunbar bridge because of that. So drive times at about 30 minutes there. Remember, you have that option. You also could hop over on the bay bridge this morning traveling into the city. Thats about 23 drive times have not gone up significantly. There. But you have to that. Then you have to hop on 1, 1, or 2. 80. Want you hit the city and that could take a little bit of time bartz also an option for you if youre navigating around the san mateo bridge. Also in the east bay, Antioch City Council member mike, a barb, an acas says that the city needs to do something about the staffing issues within the Police Department. Theyre only 31 officers. So theres forced overtime and says thats going to impact the department and they already have to pull officers from their Traffic Division and he is thinking that the outside help from the chp as well as the Contra Costa CountySheriffs Office would help. Right. Now we have approximately 31 officers, including supervisors to cover 7 beats on a 24 7. 365 day year operation. And it is my opinion that that is not enough officers for proper coverage. Its a matter of time before fatigue sets in. Council member says that the entire council would have to take action to request assistance from the chp or sheriffs department. Well, in the north bay contract negotiations between the Sausalito District Teachers Association and the Sausalito MarinCity School District have apparently failed. The Teachers Association is asking right now for better pay. Theyve been working without a contract since june 30th of last year. Theyve been bargaining for months now. Theyve had to mediate mediation sessions. The district says its raised their offer to 4 for the Upcoming School year. But the Teachers Want more softly to Teachers Association says if contract negotiations dont resume and produce something, well, leaders may then call for a strike authorization vote. District officials havent commented yet on that potential strike. Turning now to another big story this morning, people working at a medical facility in redwood city were evacuated after a chemical leak. That leak was reported in this building on island drive. This was yesterday afternoon. People began to complain about headaches and other symptoms, including nausea and bloodied noses. Officials say more than 20 people were exposed to free on which is a chemical commonly used in refrigeration and air conditioning units. They say 5 of the evacuees were treated on scene. Luckily nobody had to be taken to the hospital. Firefighters are still trying to figure out what caused that leak. Its 807, and state lawmakers gave the green light to a plan that would temporarily raise tolls on several bay area bridges. Yeah, but a group of local congressmembers are now banding together to oppose that rate hike with kron fours Ella Sogomonian to explain why. S p 5. 30, tour is a bill introduced by senator scott wiener known as a safe, clean, reliable Public Transportation emergency act. And it would generate more money for struggling Public Transit agencies like bart and muni if signed into law, it would temporarily raise toll fees by one dollar and 0. 50 on all bridges except the golden gate. The goal is to raise about 900 Million Dollars over 5 year period to prevent service cuts. But local representatives mark on anna eshoo, barbara lee Eric SwalwellJohn Garamendi and Mike Thompson all disagree. The Congress Members wrote a letter opposing the move saying they dont want to offset any budget deficits to drivers who already face tolls as high as 9. 50. They argue that lowincome residents will be burdened with the higher bill to commute into the city. In a statement they wrote, quote, an analysis of toll fines shows that low income communities across the bay area have much higher rates of unpaid tolls and wealthier zip codes indicating the disproportionate impact. An increase in tolls will continue to put on communities. There are already financially strapped and have a tough time paying for them. The letter has received support from the Bay Area Council who is a staunch transit supporter, but says a rate hike is a shortsighted approach that its going to disproportionately hurt lowerincome commuters, the and and folks who come from communities of color primarily in the east bay were. Who you know, that many cases . Rely have to rely on on their automobile to commute. I was Ella Sogomonian reporting the Bay Area Council also points out that california transit agencies recently received about 5 billion dollars in state funding. Time now is 809. And the red cross is expanding the number of people donate. Theyre going to be more inclusive. And yes, im and bisexual. Men can now make a donation after the fda updated its guidance proper. Michael thomas live in the newsroom with more. Michael . Hey, good morning, everyone. Will the fda actually approved this guidance back in may . And with the American Red Cross now implementing these goidelines, it could be seen as a huge thing for both activists and medical groups and those in need of blood. But some people are saying that this new policy is still a rational and people outlets, kinda video, so i can talk about it with this new policy. The American Red Cross will now have all donors answer the same eligibility questions. And thats regardless of gender or orientation. And well look at individual risk factors which will eliminate the fdas previous policy that differed and bisexual men from donating at all. Now, individuals, however, who are taking prep for hiv prevention will still be deferred. The fda Officials Say thats because theres a concern for that medications could cause a false negatives. Now the agency has gotten scrutiny for that, both from the Lgbt Community and elected officials like ex not tweet. Excuse me, this ex that you see on your screen from senator scott wiener who ultimately says that banning those on prep that are less likely to have hiv and accepting those that are not on prep doesnt make sense. And while its a big step, the policy is still deferring a lot of and bisexual men from donating. And thats because a lot of them are on prep medication so that way they dont get hiv. Now, heterosexual people may also be different times depending on their activity during the threemonth span before donating blood darya james, i will go ahead and send it back to you. 8. 11 is the time. Were going to take a break here. And still ahead on the kron 4 morning news contra costa officials are calling on the Health Department to investigate unpermitted spas after 2 people died from the disease. They contract at a in richmond will be right back. 14 on a tuesday. James, youre here. So i know you win the drawing last night. But you have another chence tonight. It could be a billion Mega Millions jackpot one and a half billion dollars. Pretty incredible. Will tran is out burlingame. Hes been chat with people buying up tickets. Getting your ticket and dreaming even if just for a little bit. They will. James week, i cash this morning, im going to spread this office pool all over the bay area. Stop by here. Stop by there. Going to buy some tickets here because we are trying to be. Billionaire also so that jackpot probably grow even larger tonight. You can see the sign right behind me. 9, 9, 9, it cannot be changed to 1. 5, 5. And thats where it stands right now, which is the second largest jackpot in u. S. History. Lot of people showing up buying tickets this morning actually started selling at around 6 this morning. I can tell you the largest jackpot was over 2 billion and only one person won it last year. That was powerball. As far as megamillions, this is their largest jackpot. And if you take the winnings, if you when were cool. 757 Million Dollar jackpot out door. Got a chance to talk people. Everybody has a dream. How we get into family and keep a little bit so so. What would be the first thing that you do . She couldnt think of it. I have a long list. Full disclosure to you guys. And to our viewers, i spend more time daydreaming about winning lottery than most people out there. I would not give any hints if i won, but i can tell you my costco pizza would have lobster on it. The odds of winning one in 302 million. But dont worry, you dont even have to win it all because nobody has won since april 18th. But even since that time, so many people have one little crackers here and there when i mean crackers. How about this, james . 62 people have won at least 1 Million Dollars in that pot that continues to grow. So we can split 1 Million Dollars for that office pool. Know what . That might give me some seats to a Golden State Warriors game. Back to you. Okay. Wait so jacket. So, james, when come to work, i mean, if you just had to split the million, yeah. Well, hes going to come you here tomorrow that that still would make life a lot easier around the bay and i dont play so mild. 8, 17 is the time i check out the weather the weathers freeze. So thats no change go. Hey, john. Yeah, were just when it as far as the weather goes today for those of us that are little further inland, that just done with the heat at this point. Good news for you or break from it. Weve got the gray out there this morning. You can see it above the east bay hills, but a little bit of sunshine there right along the east bay shoreline. In fact, at this point, most of us are under the sign that stratus is hugging the coastline and theres patches of it that are still in the bay in the north bay, the High Pressure ridge contributed to a scorching weekend. And yesterday we were still in the 90s inland. But today is our first day of this cooler trend in the days ahead of us. Temperatures today as much as 10 to 15 degrees cooler inland. So thanks, low pressure for it again that cool air from the north and west, we are seeing some great spots this morning. But the sunshine coming back out in a very comfortable way this afternoon. Tomorrow morning, another push of the great followed by some more afternoon sunshine. So where will we be today . Its 60s an sf and at the coastline. Thats not much different feeling than yesterday. You just get greyer skies out that direction. It will be 70s for most of the bay shore today saying carlos in palo alto in i77 some 80s for the south bay. And thats compared to yesterdays 90s. So 10 degree drop freeman through hayward in the 70s. Well, 60s in oakland up to richmond, 80s barely hanging on in concord and walnut creek and that are very warmest for this inland areas will get to the upper 80s. 70s from sandra fell. The santa rosa tomorrow thursday and friday continue this cooler and average trend with 60s at the coast. 70s along the bay shore and 80s at our warmest inland. It wont be until the weekend that we see the return of 90s with temperatures building into early next week. Rain. All right, john. Our main spot of the issue this morning has been that hot spot on the san mateo bridge for the past hours. Major delays. Weve got an accident. What near the mid span portion of the bridge drive times around 133 minutes. So im saying do not take the san mateo bridge at all. You could, however, take the dunbar bridge. If youre trying to navigate around those delays and drive times are going up there. Its now 34 minutes. Last time we checked in were at about 25 there. The other options that you could maybe take potentially would be the bay bridge if you take that. Its about 23 minutes. Then you can make your way to 101. Or you can hop on to 80 or 80 to want to reach the city. Now our highways are congested, especially because of whats going on on san mateo bridge. Look at that. 77 minutes along 1, 0, 1, 85 up to menlo park and over in the east bay for everybody taking 88 easy on that red and orange on the map about 55 minutes traveling from sally and are down to 37. So if you can might be a good option for you on this busy Tuesday Morning. There are days. Send it back to both. All right. Thank you very rain a 20s. The time the debate over Driverless Cars picks up steam in San Francisco. Fact. Yesterday taxi drivers ga
