That breaking news tonight. A man has been shot and killed outside oaklands lake merritt bart station. And weve just learned bart police now have a suspect in custody. It was at the corner of 8th street and oak near the stations bus zone. The station was closed for about 40 minutes while police investigated the scene. But trains are moving now on schedule. Police say after searching the area and looking at Surveillance Video. They were able to identify and arrest a man in connection with that shooting. Officials say theres no indication the suspect or the victim was riding bart. We have a crew headed to the scene right now and we will have more on this story in a live report coming up tonight at about 5. 30. Our other top story this evening. 4 months after home depot employee was shot and killed after confronting a suspected shoplifter in pleasanton. Theres now been a similar incident at a home depot in san carlos. And nobody died. But kron fours dan kerman reports a shoplifting suspect was shot and wounded by a home depot security card. As this home depot in san carlos was closing at 10 monday night. Authorities say a Security Guard in a store employee confronted a suspected shoplifter at the Self Checkout area than a physical begin. Suspect at some point was able to grab the Security Guards over time. He grab use the baton against Security Guard him in the face the head through the baton and at some point, the fire Security Guard discharge his firearm. 2 rounds were shot. One striking the suspect, sheriffs deputies in the area heard the shots arrived on scene and detained. The suspect while providing first aid until paramedics arrived. The suspect is transferred to the hospital for his injuries they would non life threatening. Suspect has since been released from hospital and hes in our custody here in downtown of the city jail. The suspect identified as 26 yearold Jonathan Mackey was arrested for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. The Security Guard was taken to the hospital for his injuries, but has since been released. Im glad that Security Guard is okay. It confirms only 5 suicide jumps this year compared to 22 from last year. The bridge average between 30 and 70 suicides per year between 2020 19, the 20 foot barrier on the bridge was built in 2017.
