He and fellow students sprung into action and organized a fundraiser for this weekend hoping it like the, you know, toiletries for shoes, clothes, nonperishable, food you know, all the basic necessities, whats collected, both in person at the kona fundraiser and online through amazon registry. Will be delivered to the kings cathedral in maui. Lee and a handful of fellow students will then go there next week to lend a helping hand. And she mentioned that there receiving overwhelming amount of donations and they really appreciate the support that they also need hands to help distribute and organize their somebody to do that. Lees mother grew up on the big island and his grandparents and other relatives still live in hawaii. He says taking the short flight from kona to maui is the least he can do to help the people in we need our help. Overcrowding at Animal Shelters across the state has really reached critical levels in many cases, including Contra Costa County are come forcefully call reports tonight that the shelter director there says the problem so bad now that healthy pets might have to be euthanized to reduce the population. Since june pet adoptions at contra costa, Animal Services in martinez have been free and that will remain the case through this month. Animal services has posted videos and photos of pets available for adoption or foster care on its website and social media pages hoping the Community Comes to the rescue. Free adoptions are becoming more. The norm. Rather than exception still the number of pets being adopted, returned to owners or transferred to Animal Rescue agencies is not keeping up with the volume of animals coming in. Animal Services Director beth ward says since wednesday, 44 cats have been brought in with only 24 going out soon. She says the shelter may have to euthanize healthy and treatable animals. They say somebody reported seeing 2 Mountain Lions on their property on marlboro road. Another person also reported seeing Mountain Lion cubs nearby. Police say Mountain Lions are known to roam free around hillsborough. People are being advised to keep their pets indoors during dusk and dawn and to lock their doors at night. In the east bay bay area, Fire Agencies conducted a controlled burn on a hillside in moraga. They wanted to clear out a lot of brush to reduce, of course, the risk wildfires and the served as a training exercise. So crews could practice wild land firefighting techniques. Not a lot of wind out there, which was good. And so they were able to easily to keep the burn within containment lines. In fact, getting hot, some of the interior valleys by tomorrow afternoon. Likely going to see these temperatures as high as 94 degrees in livermore. 93 in antioch, 91 in concord, in the south bay, 80s 90s for highs. Still keeping cool the beaches. Temperatures there with the fog in the 60s. All right, lawrence, San Francisco bay ferry is introducing new fare collection protocols. Passengers are now required to show proof of farewell boarding vessels instead of when getting off the ferry. The change is an effort to speed up the disembarkation process at terminals on all routes. The tsa has changed a plan that would have required members of clear to undergo additional identification checks. This despite reports a recent Security Breaches of the private company, the tsas original plan would have required all members of cleared under grow additional vetting. Well, now the agency says that this will only affect a very small percentage of the members. The change is a big win for clear as their entire Business Model depends on getting travelers through security quickly. It is not clear they will decide just who needs the additional checks.
