Nice job, little sis they grow up so fast. Im a fan. From xfinity. Welcome back. Aaron. Weve got to talk about cleveland, farrell, he and was drafted by raiders, actually covered him when the raider and oakland his rookie year 4th overall, huge expectations out of clemson. Didnt exactly pan out for the raiders, now hes on the other side and look, look at the play he makes. Im sure this really take operators. Fans. He comes in and gets a sack against a former team. Every report ive read, farrow actually has looked really, really good during training camp. Its going to be interesting just like niners fans. They were probably annoyed jimmy g came in and torched them during these practices. Raiders fans have to feel the same way that their former player realize hes got came in and got back. So good for him. Now, lets pivot back to what everybody is really talking about on twitter. What were going to hear on talk radio. Yeah. Trey lance, what are your final thoughts on his performance in just his outlook overall going for the niners . I will say this right now. It doesnt look as we mentioned right before the break, either one deffinatly definitively took over. The backup qb roles to date between him or sam darnold. But if you had to choose one of the you would probably feel safer using them grow after todays performance just because lance instead, as i mentioned earlier, he doesnt seem comfortable. He finished 10 of those being completed 10 of his 15 passes to finish the day with was 4 yeah, 4 times a lot. Couple of those coming very early in the game. And, you know, you just dont that the moment town to start after some hoping putting right now, im not i know were objective reporters, but i like trey lance. I want to see him succeed teen made hard the team trade today because like so many excuses i want to make. But just from the naked eye, you watch him play. He doesnt look comfortable as our producer pete said. He looks kind of scared out there. A lot of deer in headlights and you know were at some point hes going to have to get on the field and just we havent seen that yet. So, you know, it will be interesting to see how niners play this out. Obviously hes making a lot of money so i couldnt see them have a practice squad quarterback. You know, its its going to be interesting today. Try to trade him today. Just cuts and arnold, who has looked better. It will be interesting. But it will just to see how it how it really plays out. I dont think the trey lance will find his place here. Im being honest. But like i said here, the whole season ahead of him. Lot of games to be played. A lot of football to play right now is just the first game of preseason. Yeah. And you know what . We do have a lot ahead of us. Kron. 4 lot ahead of us. Im ken wayne and im Vicki Liviakis as crews continue to clean up what remains of la hina. A bay area professor who used to live in maui says the worst of the catastrophe could have been avoided. Kron fours terisa stasio talks with that professors joins us now live in the studio theresa. Well, vic inc and the professor blames emergency Warning Systems failure to protect the historic area. Doctor mia love, a dale spent her childhood in maui. She says the community is well educated on what to do and Natural Disasters. She says that coupled with how Climate Change played a role in this wildfire must be closely examined as molly looks to future. The feelings that i have right now, im very heavy doctor. Mia live a day is a professor of Public Health cal state east bay. But she grew up on the island of maui. Were familiar with Natural Disasters in hawaii like we need to have communication. And we rely on you know, systems systems and drills, a talk and what to do in heard the emergency sirens. But during the height of the raging wildfire that bore down on maui, many residents say that they never heard that critical information ways. Attorney general has called for an investigation into the breakdown in communications. Doctor live a day says another troubling factor now landscape and how Climate Change has played a role in the devastation behind. Was initially a wetlands. It had water big fish ponds. It had it wasnt known as a dry area of the as development has happened and more helping more a condo buildings, Development Just all around the island. But in this area, specifically, weve seen a lot of that wetland, all of that wetland disappear the sugar cane industry which originally took the palm of acreage around maui, native grasslands growing all over island. So these factors all impact the ability of the Massive Wildfire to move very, very quickly under the right circumstances with really high winds. I think that thats a big part of and Climate Change having these big storm, having high winds is another component of she also says as the area looks to the future care needs to be taken to rebuild wisely. And with respect for the historic nature of the community, it has to be with the people who the local families who live there. So much of liner prior to the fire was in a housing crisis already the cost of health is in enormous for what local families making. So really scary and really important to think about how can we make these home state with the local families and not be bound by more people who need tourist, you know, that could need vacation homes and places to visit. Now, the doctor says, although she lives here in the bay area, her heart is in maui and plans to go and help out as soon as she can. All right. The first thing that comes to mind is why werent people warned . We hear they have sirens everywhere. Somebody forgot to flip the switch. It seems daunting absolutely dumbfounded about why those did not go off. I was mentioning i was there on august. First we heard the sirens. So why those sirens not were not patched into the network to alert people so that they could get out. Like analog. But they were relying on cell phones. The towers went down which we know thats going to happen. So why in the world do they not have a backup by the way, you heard the sirens of test was just a title. They were working correct on august. First lot of investigations. Thank you, thanks. Reset. All san franciscans are joining forces to help out those affected by the firestorm crisis. Kron 4 meteorologist scale long now joins us with a look at the conditions out there. Well, hello and hello making hello everybody. A very dry out there. So its a reminder that those fuels have been dry, even though we havent had a lot of rain. But we do have active weather to east here. This is in Central Valley. So right by the sierra, we have some thunder. Showers going on there. So thats a concern as far as fire season goes because, you know, we are concerned about those lightning strikes. And as far as heat goes, we are around the excessive heat watches and warnings. So theres an advisory that goes into effect in the Sacramento Valley and then to our north and yukon mendocino county. They have and excessive heat warning up there. And that will be for much of the week because we are heating up, as you can see across the board 100 degrees and brentwood at this hour. Thank you very much, dan there is a new acting police chief Police Captain joseph veehill was named the new acting police chief earlier this week. The hill has previously worked for the sacramento and the Richmond Police department. According to the interim city manager, captain veehill is not among the dozens of officers under investigation by the fbi and by Contra Costa County for alleged police misconduct, nor is he under investigation for the sending and receiving of racist and homophobic Text Messages. Attorneys are calling on the u. S. Department of justice to step in to investigate that races. Tax scandal thats plagued the antioch department. Kron fours. Dan kerman has more. The discovery that members of the Antioch Police force for sending racist Text Messages to each other. Not only created a scandal but led to investigations by the Contra Costa County district attorneys office, the fbi and californias attorney general, not just in to the tax but additional allegations. Individuals have complained to us about the use of excessive force. Arrests. Asking on the screens taking confessions that they had not given taking them money when they should. And that recorded it taken even a drugs. Now, bay area, civil rights attorney john burris, who filed 2 federal civil rights lawsuit against the department for discriminatory policing has sent this letter to the u. S. Department of justice asking that its Civil Rights Division also launch an investigation. We want the government to come in say, look, we look at this this department and we see ongoing pattern discriminatory Law Enforcement based upon race, homophobic. And make ideas and this department has to be change. It has to be federal control for us as the u. S. Department of justice has more experience with these investigations than californias attorney general having launched similar inquiries and installing federal monitors and more than a dozen cities across the country. And what we want is new policies to be new training to a new monitoring place and that this can take place and way actually takes control of any acts mayor wont weigh in as to whether another agency should launch an investigation but did pledge this if they do decide to do investigations were going to do our best to fully cooperate and ensure that they get the information that they need, whatever recommendations they offer, well do our best to try to implement those. Dan kerman kron, 4 news weather time as we get a live look at the 4 zone forecast. Theres quite tower up there in the distance. Carpers gayle ong is joining us in the studio with a look at the west. Hello, vicki. And yeah. We had a really nice day inland, especially and then you can start to see and that shot at quite our that things are still the clouds are starting to move. So thats going to be the pattern as we get through the evening. Youll notice cloudy at the coast, warm and sunny inland. Thats due to this low pressure system. We have thats sitting in Southern California will get to in a bit. But temperatures right now at this hour is already 101 brentwood and 96 in congress. So we are heating up in the 90s as 67 in berkeley and 69 in San Francisco. So depends where you are, of course. And where about 4 to 5 degrees warmer around this time than we were yesterday. So thats when that heat is coming in back. And then here, the clouds i mention so future cast for model showing it moves in through this evening and then youll notice in your morning commute.
