We have new Surveillance Video showing us the 5 masked men running into the gucci store, stealing about 50,000 worth of purses and merchandise and then they run out this whole thing last about 20 seconds that happened last thursday. Police say that a responding officer was able to arrest one of the suspects who turned out to be a nevada man with an active warrant out for his arrest. Police are still searching for the 4 other suspects. There are a lot of Unanswered Questions today after mondays chaotic scene at the chinese consulate in San Francisco. Police say that a man smashed a car right through the front of the building and at least one of the officers who responded to the scene ultimately shot that man dead. Police are maintaining a presence outside of the building today. Its off of laguna street and geary boulevard and the visa office is closed there until further notice. Its still not clear what led up to this crash or what prompted the officer to open fire. In a statement, the chinese consulate general described the incident as, quote, a violent attack. San Francisco Police are expected to share more details about what happened at a town hall that will happen within the next 10 days. Also in San Francisco, 3 chinatown, apartments are now the subject of a lawsuit. Well, the city of San Francisco says theyve tried for years to bring these landlords into compliance to make sure that they take care of their properties and they havent done it. And so now theyre taking them to court. Patients on tuesday morning, San FranciscoCity Attorney david chiu announced that the city is suing the owners of 3 single room occupancy or sro hotels in chinatown. Theyre located at 14. 49 powell street 7. 90, vallejo street and 9. 12, jackson street. The citys alleging that the landlords of these buildings have failed to properly maintain their properties. They say that the tenants, most of whom are immigrants have had to deal with among other things, broken in rusted, plumbing, broken doors and locks exposed wiring a lack of emergency exits, broken windows, lead paint, insect and rodent infestations and the lack of smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors. I got out those time speaking at a press conference, residents claim that theyve been dealing with these problems for years and they stop providing regular cleaning and has they know would where repairs we have a problem with voting and what broken windows. And that theres all the not and much more. Theyve profited off the suffering of their tenants. David chu says that the city has tried repeatedly to get the landlords to address the problems with little or no success. He says that filing a lawsuit was a last resort. Lawsuits are not the first option for us to move forward. Federal investigators are going after criminals to discourage more of them from continuing to target and assault mail carriers on tuesday, prosecutors announced the arrest of 10 people who either attacked or robbed a bay area. Postal worker, they say its a growing problem that comes with a heavy price for everyone involved for those who are caught and for the postal workers who now suffer from ptsd one man arrested in antioch, for example, now faces a maximum of 10 years in prison for allegedly stealing mail keys and another 25 years. Each for 2 armed robberies. Carriers are frightened to death. Some of them have gone out post traumatic stress. Some of them had a return to work to any copycats are wannabes. Out there who might consider robbing a postal worker. I ask you to consider. The years you will face in federal prison. The price on your head and that postal inspectors will not stop hunting. You. The proceeds of this crime are not worth your freedom. Authorities hope that the reward money will help investigations and that the prison time will help dissuade wouldbe thieves. Thank you. The search for oaklands next police chief is now down to 7 candidates, including former chief leronne armstrong, a committee within the Oakland Police commission. Has identified 7 finalists among nearly 20 candidates and shared that list with mayor sheng thao and city officials. Oakland has not had a police chief since the mayor fired armstrong in january february over his handling of officer misconduct incidents strong appealed his firing and claimed that arbitrator cleared him of any wrongdoing and put out this statement saying in part, quote, i believe that i should be considered an appointed through the Police Commission process. As i have the experience, the desire and the public trust and confidence to lead the Oakland Police department and to address the surge in crime threatening our oakland community. Mayor thao has not responded to the Police Commissions recommendations for chief. Happening tonight, the Sunol Glen School board will meet to discuss repealing the ban on displaying a pride flag at school. Right now. The rules say thats no glenn can only fly the American Flag and the california state flag in front of the school. It went into effect on september. 12th was a 2 to one vote and now a resolution will be introduced at tonights meeting to try and repeal that ban. Unfortunately, the way that the resolution as written is very blanket. Theres no expectations set to hold people accountable in the future. Right . So if you go back to the resolution, it says all flags, right . So if you go out in front of the classrooms, there used to be you know, welcome back to school flags and things like that. Meeting members will consider whether to adopt new regulations for street vendors.
