Tuesday afternoon, Alaska Airlines pilot 44 yearold Joseph Emerson of Pleasant Hill appeared Oregon State Court pleading not guilty to 83 counts of Second Degree attempted murder and one count of endangering an aircraft. Emerson attempted to cut the engines of a plane sunday night forcing the flight to make an Emergency Landing in portland. Jumped pilot. Its 7. 24 and today, San Francisco city officials and the community are celebrating the grand opening of a permanent family shelter. Its 59 units and its in the former oasis in it was originally an emergency family shelter during the pandemic. So its just temporary. It was bought. Theyll buy the Saint Anthony foundation in june because there threat of a closing altogether. The family shelter started operating in 2020 after supervisor prestons Office Fundraising got 100,000. The grand opening of this new permanent shelter is 11 oclock this morning. Well, the california homeless youth. Project released new data this week on unsheltered u. S. Senate reveals that 36 of californians are experiencing homelessness between the ages of 12 24. So take a look. Well, the Sonoma County board of supervisors is banning the sale of ecigarettes and flavored Tobacco Products in unincorporated areas. The board voted to change the county tobacco retail ordinance last night. They say its due to the increasing use of flavored tobacco by High School Age kids. Fact, almost half of the 11th graders surveyed in the county said that they have used an ecigarette and say that its pretty easy for them to get.
