Well of the drivers that may be driving someone to be justice involved and how we can divert those populations to better resources. And i them away from the criminal justice system. I believe from a constitutional standpoint and a cultural standpoint, its just making sure that you said clear lines in the same of what will be tolerated but wont be tolerated. And you have a problem processes and policies or procedures in place to call up with that. You have to stay on top. What are expectations that process and procedures are per staff directly . And if theyre there handle on a daily basis. Absent from that meeting, the mayor who does have the final say in hiring of a chief, oakland mayor sheng thao says she skipped out on the meeting because she believes the process that the candidates are being put through does not work. Thao also says the Police Commission is keeping her from seeing all of the people who have applied only providing her with a list of selected candidates. So this Police Search committee for this chief says that their list of finalists was submitted to the mayor, but it did not say who was on the list so the mayor can now choose to interview those finalists or reject them. Boy, it is really coming down now. Vicki just shot this video a few minutes ago from outside our look at that. Yeah, i guess those are like gutters. Kind of from the rooftop there. I mean, it was just dumping and we heard a big thunder boom boomers. Now a part of this. What a dynamic storm and, you know, this is just in the bay. I mean, what theyre dealing with in the sierras, just a whole nother ball game tremendous. You know, weve got those thunderstorms get underneath that. You see those downpours like that. That makes it so dangerous on the highways here. But up in the high country. And they shut down the road. They just shut down 80 right. And thats because of all that snow coming down and maybe 2 to 4 inches per hour. And the snow plows. They can not work fast enough incline village. You see the few print out there in the snow that is now falling down the lake level at lake level. They could get as much as 6 feet of snow by the time this whole storm system kind of winds down. The snow level has been throughout the day today. You can see now all around the lake tahoe area, the ski resorts kirkwood in bear valley. Theyre getting plenty of snow. In fact, some resorts already over a foot and a half in the last 24 hours. Theyre going to really get walt as we head throughout the weekend. Things are just getting going. A blizzard conditions expected throughout the weekend. That means not only are we going to see heavy snow, but were going to see very strong gusty winds in the high country that going through sunday. Maybe some of those gusts over 100 miles an hour, 6 to 10 feet. Plus, maybe as much as 12 feet across some of the higher peaks. And yeah, its going to just be dangerous up there no matter what. Theyre closer roads already. You dont want to get trapped there. If you plan to getting up the high country, i just hold on a few can until next week. Weve got blizzard warnings up there across much of the Sierra Nevada, but not just in the higher slopes way down about 2000 feet or so as really the snow levels continue to drop into the weekend may be down to about 1000 feet or so. In the meantime, this is just been updated. This is now an avalanche warning in the greater lake tahoe area. You know, you get those winds blowing with that heavy snow and you can see at some of those snow drifts starting to build up on some of the peaks. Well then afterwards you got these big bills of snow on top of the peaks and doesnt take much to cause an avalanche. So got to be careful of that throughout the weekend and probably the next week to a snow forecast model still painting a tremendous amount of snow to come. How about that . 48 feet across made the peaks. Of course we had this all up. I think maybe 10 to 12 feet of snow from the storm. Thank you as it lawrence was this is a live look now at i80 eastbound from truckee. We are getting word that there are. There is a portion of 80 that is closed down at this point. But as you can see, not many folks on the road, which is exactly what officials have been urging people to do to not draw hive again westbound traffic. The is now being turned around at the nevada state line. Eastbound traffic is being turned around at drum for bay. So even if you are thinking youre going to get up to the sierra, its not going to be possible now as they have closed down a portion of 80 this evening will, of course, continue to keep you updated on the conditions there. Yosemite National Park is closed for the weekend due to the severe snow storm heading the Sierra Nevada visitors were told to leave the park by midnight today and anyone thinking of going there over the weekend is advised to stay home up to a foot of snow could fall in yosemite valley. A winter storm warning does go into effect for that part of the park tomorrow morning through sunday morning. A blizzard warning already in place for the park outside yosemite valley. So we have all this rain and snow and then you have these catastrophic wildfires that are ripping across the texas panhandle right now at least 2 people have been killed. Homes are in many have been destroyed already by this massive fire at biggest fire in the history of texas, which is hard to believe at least 3, a different wildfires are burning across the state. Officials are reporting that there unfortunately is no end in sight. Many are fearing things could get worse this weekend with ferocious winds are forecasted to return to the area. The humidity levels are super low and the conditions are just right for this fire to rage. Other news tonight, the cdc changed some guidelines when it comes to covid19 and how to handle it. Theyre saying we can handle similar to the flu. Dan kerman reports. The centers for Disease Control says those who test positive for covid19 no longer have to isolate for 5 days.
