Entrance to the toll plaza without any problems. But you can see those lights right now. We do know that 2 lanes are blocked off because they have to clear the wreckage and also conduct an investigation. Only one lane is open. Your best bet if you have to go into the city, perhaps get off of that split their go towards emeryville and then make a uturn at paul street and then come back in this direction. Well, let me show you live pictures from the caltrans camera mounted near this location. You can see the wreckage. We do know that this started at 4. 30, this morning, according to the chp, it actually started not here, but it elsa with the pursuit at some point the pursuit was called off. We do know that 2 people were in the car that they were pursuing. Then those 2 people actually went against traffic and then slammed into 2 other cars. One, a van and another one gray bmw. Now we do know that it was the person in the gray bmw who died from the from the fatality from the collision of the 2 cars between the suspects car as well as the gray bmw. The person in the van, a solo occupant, that person also major injuries, not to mention the 2 suspects. We are hearing major injuries as far as when this will clear up. We dont know just yet. Understand about 20 minutes ago tow trucks had a hard time just getting to the scene to remove the cars involved. So your best bet, reyna. Im sure youre all over it. Your best bet obviously go towards emeryville. Circle back at powell street and then come back in this direction or take part back to you. All right. Well be even that breakdown the area. So. Like well just said, find out. Find another way around fact, rain has been taking a look at some of the alternate son. Your best way of trying to get past this. Yeah. Well just mention. Getting off 80 eastbound taken pow and then getting back on the a t but look at 80 right now. Were not seeing any major traffic along so that would be your best alternate, avoiding 85, 80 altogether. If you can, depending on where youre coming from. Youre also seeing the ramifications of backup of that crash is a long 24 as well. So ashley avenue you can see right as youre traveling to berkeley, its going to be another really good or out for you. So i would take ashby avenue. I would take 8. 80. Were live will said if you have to travel along a this morning getting off, getting back getting off at powell and getting back 80. But you can see the orange starting to build. If youre traveling to areas on berkeley right now, if you could take bart do that, if you can avoid taking this route altogether, do that. This morning he took this photo. Yeah, you could still access the eastbound 80 lanes on the far right to get over that. Powell turn around and come back towards the bay bridge. Now its course all slowed up. But that still is probably your best route to get past the scene. Even at this hour. The yeah. Okay. So lets look at your bridges. 60 minutes. Once you get past this and to the city. But you got to get past that first 19 minutes on the san mateo bridge. Richmond, sandra fell bridge around 15 and the Golden Gate Bridge under 23 minutes. Its a bar kind of day if that is your route this morning. But again, you have 8. 88. You have avenue to berkeley to take to try to maneuver around that. And sec, tell me that its going to be there for some time. Got investigate. Theyve got to some additional tow trucks. The bay area could come out of this with the round of venture rainfall in some urban areas, 3 inches to our north on the north coast. As for temperatures today, we are going to the pool. That isnt a little cooler, though. Low 60s at the coast and some upper 50s there too. Still hanging on to those 70s inland. Like in concord livermore, san jose and antioch. Thank you very much, hannah. Were going to take a quick break. And here a live look. Weve zoomed in the camera. Just a touch. You can see this accident on westbound 5. 80, as you approach the bay bridge toll plaza. Theyre making some progress. The tow trucks have cooked up that white van. Theres also bmw, a great win thats being slowly pulled up onto the record that you see on the right hand side. Theyre working to get those 2 vehicles cleared. So right now, all lanes are blocked i80 and this is causing a major impact in your morning commute that offers will trend live in the bay bridge will. What are you seeing out there right now . While we do know now that all lanes are blocked it last time you saw me at least one lane was moving, but it is blocked completely. We will zoom in. Im at the bay bridge. Toll plaza parking lot and we will zoom in as far as we possibly can. It is right in the center of your screen. Its between the 2 decks. You see the upper deck and the lower deck you might be able to make out some flashing lights. Those are chp officers handling the situation. Lets get a little bit closer with our caltrans camera. This is a live stream thats going on right now. This could be clearing up pretty soon as they are hitching a lot of the cars involved in the accident. 2 flatbed trucks are tow trucks. We do know that a van is being right now to a tow truck to be removed from the scene. Let me show you some stringer video, some video that we got a little bit earlier this morning. That gives you even closer to the scene that we do know. This started at around 4. 30, in the morning. We have learned from the chp it actually started not here on 5. 80, westbound by the connector, but actually miles away in elsa we understand that it started off as a pursuit. At some point, the police el serino called off their pursuit, but that the people inside the car, we understand 2 people. Were inside the car and stead of slowing down themselves. They actually went against traffic on 5. 80. So they are going in the wrong direction. Slams into 2 other cars. A van and that bmw. We do know that the 2 people in the car that was trying to get away from police officers. They have major injuries. The person in the white van solo occupant. Also major injuries. Unfortunotely, the person in the 3rd car, a gray bmw, that persons injuries so that person died from the collision on the freeway. Understand right now theyre in the removing the cars after that, they have to clean up the debris. Look for any oil so they dont want another accident to happen. Not to mention an investigation. And on a personal note, i miss this accident by about 10 minutes i was actually heading toward San Francisco on the 5. 80, connector right around 4. 45. This morning when i saw the backup, i thought it was a simple accident that could be towed away. I had no idea. It was a wrongway driver. We were just talking about it. It easily could have been had i been there just a few minutes earlier. Right now. We dont know. Have we dont have an estimated time on when they will at the very least open up one lane and how horrific as this accident in terms of traffic. We understand that buses. They usually bring people into San Francisco from oakland, ac transit. That has been stalled as well. So your best rain and youre going to be all over the best bet is to take part or if you possibly can go 5. 80, westbound go off the connector towards east 80. And then get off the nearest exit, which is powell go under the freeway and then circle back to the floor. The bay bridge toll plaza. Thats your best bet. Thats what i did at around 04 45am in the morning. But the story, at least from my perspective, its really close to home. And this this accident 5 minutes back to you. And will i was about 5 minutes behind you on that very same stretch of roadway just let you know, while you were talking caltrans did move that white van that they were trying to hook up with the tow truck out of the way. So they have reopened the farright lanes only one lane out as traffic getting by. So that was the update in real time as will was talking. Thank you. Will now lets get over to the Traffic Center. Rain has got an eye on those alternates reyna. All right. So if you are traveling this morning, as you heard from will. Traffic is pretty stagnant out there. We do know like james just mentioned. 5. 80, westbound that far right lane of that connector just reopened. So youre going to be able to continue. But traffic is still backed up 8. 80. Your best bet right now. In addition, 8. 80, for those that are maybe have 24 as their route. Thats also pretty delayed. So, ashleigh, avenues, the berkeley is going to be a really good one for you. Now well talk about this commute. He was saying that if you are on a t 80 eastbound exit in that pow getting back on a less mount is another better alternate. If you have to take that route or bart bay bridge right now. If you are able to maneuver around those delays, 18 minute ride once you hit the mays to that fremont street exit other bridges, a lot of people born in the bay bridge altogether. Theyre opting for the san mateo bridge because maybe that youre out this morning. 23 minute right there. 80 to 101. You see traffic is a busy and building cause of that crash and a lot of people are taking. Other alternates are avoiding the east bay and altogether. Richmond center fell bridge just short of 14 minutes. There. Golden gate bridge. Get a good look at things about 34 minutes. 37 to the tolls. Thankfully for a lot of you out there traveling this morning, we dont have the rain. Any conditions that would make even worse. Yeah. So right now just the cloudy skies that you see there. Weve got john in the Weather Center with a closer look at the forecast going forward, though, john, theres some rain on the horizon way, the way down yet and towards the end of the week today, its just a little blanket of fog that deep marine. Theyre really sitting in place this morning. Lets get a look at highway. 24 winding its way to the east bay. And you can see that traffic is moving right there. But this is one of those routes that rain is telling you to avoid to hop out highway 13, make your way down ashby avenue. You can see how busy it is, but also how gray it is overhead. Were looking at gray skies virtually everywhere. San jose up to santa rosa and we are seeing some foggy spots for some of our inland areas. So do mind that we will see the sunshine punching through burning off lifting that low gray later on today. So increasingly sunny towards the afternoon. But its going to take a while to get there because this is a very deep blanket of cloud cover sitting across all of us. Temperatures bre in the 40s to 50s berkeley and San Francisco at 51 santa rosa sitting at 49 degrees right now. Later today, despite the great start, we do tap into some sunshine making for a sunny and mild afternoon. Back to you, right . Thank john. All right. Thank you. 7. 36, the time and supporters of Alameda County District Attorney pamela that those trying to recall her. Committed fraud during the signature gathering process.
