We tried to speak to some of those protesters, but we were turned away. And then at stanford propalestine protest there were met with counter protesters who showed up saying that they also have a right to be on campus. And then students at sonoma state university. Theyre also holding an encampment on campus. Theyre demanding the school divest from all donors and funds that support and profit from the occupation in palestine they also want to see studyabroad programs connected with the israel shut down and the university to recognize palestinian identity in their curriculum across the country. Some protests are escalating at Columbia University in new york. A spokesperson for the University Says it is beginning to suspend student protesters who are refusing to leave encampments protesters at the university of texas at austin are being met by Law Enforcement. Were totally 6 people were arrested there today at ucla. The camera there continues to grow. The university has made no attempts remove it, but they are stepping up security. Meantime, the usc campus remains closed to the general public with students and faculty entering only through to designated areas. Police in oakland are looking for the shooters after 2 people were sent to the hospital. The first shooting happened last night just before 11 oclock on a 100th avenue near breed avenue. The second shooting. It happened just after 12, 30 monday morning on 73rd avenue near holly street. Investigators say the victim in both of shootings were taken to the nearby hospital. Anybody with information about either shooting is being asked to contact police. Man has been found guilty of kidnapping, a kidnapping that happened back in 2008 and a 2015 attack. Investigators say both crimes happened in berkeley. They say in 2008 keys, canard asbury approached a teenager near Berkeley High school, kidnapped and sexually assaulted her. And in 2015, hes accused of walking into the home of a victim in attacking her. But the victim fought back asbury ended up running out the front door of that home. Investigators say justice was delayed in the 2008 case because the rape kit was not tested into 2014, 6 years after the crime that resulted in asbury being allowed to roam free. Apparently searching for more victims which resulted in the attack in 2015. Now many county jury found asbury guilty of both crimes is set to be sentenced in late may. Child is in Critical Condition tonight after they and 3 other children were hit by a car while they were on a sidewalk. It happened saturday evening on foothill and Stevens Creek boulevard in cupertino. Investigators say a driver of a pickup truck they suspect was under the influence, crashed his truck into another car and then a power pole also hitting the children that were on the sidewalk. All 4 children were taken to the hospital, their ages 4, 7, 8. 11 investigators did not say which of the 4 is in Critical Condition. The driver of the pickup was arrested. Flowers now remain at the site where a family of 4 was killed in a crash in pleasanton last week. Today police were back at the scene trying to figure out what happened. They say the family was apparently returning from a Birthday Party when for some reason, the electric car swerved and collided with the tree catching fire. Crews are cleaning up tonight after a fire at a Storage Facility in fremont. It started about 6 oclock this morning at. Extra space storage. Thats on fremont boulevard. Crews arrived on the scene to find more than 50 Storage Units engulfed in flames. In a Storage Facility, typically people packed and full of whatever the contents were unaware of what those contents are, but theyre usually packed fully so you have a heavy fire load so that that always what is going to create different fire conditions for us. Took firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control. Nobody was hurt and the cause is under investigation. A warehouse caught fire in oakland tonight. This is near west grand and maoket. Crews say 40 firefighters responded and put it out in less than an hour. No injuries reported here and its not clear what started that fire. New temporary housing is coming to san Jose Santa Clara county supervisor cindy chavez unveiling the project at the Salvation Army emanuel house today. I think as we head in toward the next couple of days, as weve got a series of storms developing out there behind that. You see all these. These are all storm reports on the circles here very excessive winds to tornadoes on the ground. Funnel clouds and even extremely large hail. Some of that hail about 2 inches large. Thats damaging hail rolling across the plains. Now the storm system kind of winding down a little bit tonight, but numerous areas. Yeah, theyve just started in palm and you can see hundreds of reports of all the damage caused by this storm system making its way across the countrys midsection. And yet tornadoes you all along that path and area. There you go. Weve had reports there of damage to buildings and trees. Boy, what a mess there all across the Central Plains. And theres more to come. The storm system help tomorrow forecast to move a little further to the east. Not going to move much. That means along this line. You can see the areas shaded in green here. This in the areas with the potential for some Severe Weather behind that. Weve got some more cold air coming out of the rockies. And so here we go again. All this is going to dump into the Central Plains with the possibility of more Severe Weather on the way see it right here in the models one front moves out of the way. And then you get that next with developing in the afternoon. Then another very strong line of storms developing across the countrys midsection. Again, you can see hes got the potential to be some really severe storms rolling on by and bring bring with the potential for more damaging storms as well. So temperatures really is that big contrast in temperatures at this time of year. That really gives rise to the storm system. Got all that warm moisture coming south.
