So its got some punch to it as is headed toward the bay area right now started to cloud up outside that marine layer deepening ahead of that front as its moving in looking outside right now. Quite hour in some fog out there right now. But it wont be long. The winds starting to change just a bit. That onshore breeze is blowing after what was another nice day outside . Of course, it has been very nice all week long, but that is all about to change this storm coming in from the gulf of alaska and unusually unseasonably cold storm dropping our direction. Already starting to see some rain now in far Northern California that is going to be sliding to the south throughout the night tonight and tomorrow morning. Interstate 80 is finally back open tonight after it was shut down for many hours, Police Stopped traffic to try to safely capture a shooting suspect. Kron fours. Dan thorn reports. It was an absolute traffic nightmare for thousands of bay area drivers along i80 as well as a heart pounding situation for officers dealing with this standoff. And Police Spotted around 03 00pm in rohnert park and led police on a chase on the highway. 37, then back to 101, southbound. And then across the richmond, sandra fell bridge. The driver then took off and 80 eastbound in came to a stop at the core. Delia junction in the area of green valley road and 6. 80, after his tires were blown out by spike strips. Chp Solano County deputies and Fairfield Police surrounded and approached the suspect after an hours long standoff at 06 45pm. Chp says the situation was resolved. Chp has confirmed that the suspect has died. And initial report was that it was from a selfinflicted gunshot wound. Well, they were crossing the street. It happened rohnert park this morning on snyder lane at buck creek. And thats near rancho cotati high school. Police say that they were able to find the driver. He is now facing several felony charges. The victim is expected to be okay. San jose Police Officers continue to get shot at alarming rate. The latest incident to officers were shot by a suspect at a hotel. Police say this meant kevin brown, us shot at them at the extended stay. America hotel last night in south san jose near 101. According to police, a woman with a restraining order against briones called police when she found out the man was outside her hotel room, her children ages 8, 10 15 were also in the room. What we had was an armed, dangerous felon showing up in the middle of the night and a hotel room where Domestic Violence survivor and her 3 children were with a with a pistol. The second officer immediately pulled the more seriously injured officer to safety immediately began assessing him for injuries when to apply a tourniquet before he even realized that he himself had been shot. Last nights events offer a stark reminder of the solemn oath they take to protect and serve our city. In the immense personal risk, they assume as they carry out their jobs each day. One officer was released from the hospital today. The other officer is in critical condition. At least one of the officers fired shots at briones who is now in Police Custody at the hospital. She says this wasnt the first time that it happened. Our first theresa has video of the encounter. Be angered each and in this video from wednesday morning. You can see a suspect pull out a gun and point it at an employee. That employee works at one key supermarket in oaklands chinatown. The owner, shirley liu says robberies have happened here before, but this time the suspect took a lot of cash. Several 1000. Liu says that it is just too important now to stay quiet almost every day. But these temperatures really going to take a major drop. Its going to be a whole lot cooler. What we really been enjoying all week long and not only that, but a lot of folks start to plan some it plans around this ti e of year to get out. Enjoy the great outdoors, maybe head up the tahoe area. Well, things are going to get very, very active in the high country to, in fact, theyre going to see a tremendous amount of snow in the high country. Usually dont see that much at this time of year. But here comes the storm right out the gulf of alaska. So its already latched on some cold air has plenty of moisture and trained in the storm system to thats going to come rolling on in. So here we go. That late season spring storm, its going to bring with it. Lot of heavy snow and some gusty winds, maybe some 50, 60 mile an hour gusts across some of the mountain tops there and that snow level dropping all the way down to 5,000 feet. So that means the lake tahoe, youre going to get a mixture of some rain and some snow right at lake level. Look at this 8 to 12 inches above 7,000 feet. Some of the models trying to paint as much as maybe a foot and a half the higher peaks, maybe as much as 2 feet as well. So all that being said, you can expect some travel delays across the high country, unusually cold temperatures too, and some gusty winds to go along with that in the high country. So weve got some winter storm warnings that are now posted for the sierra probably wont see these again for the season. But here you go all the way across. Not only for the great lake tahoe area, all the way down lakes. Also new, 70 area. So be careful traveling in the high country. Time it out for you. You can see by tomorrow morning. The rain has already moved in the bay area. Start to see some snow in Northern California. And then that snow really picks up in the afternoon in the high country. That rain continuing on and off in the bay area. Snow showers continuing into sunday as well and then finally drying out. But boy, look at all the amounts are likely to add up. As you head across the high country, youre going to see a snow amounts really begin to pile up saturday. How about that . A foot foot and a half across on the peaks. Maybe even more than that. Even north in the bay area. Lake county, you could see 3 to 6 inches of snow. Can you believe that from a day . Guys, back to you. All right, lawrence, pretty impressive. Well, travelers beware. The fbi is trying to raise awareness about assaults on planes. As kron fours Philippe Djegal reports now women and minors who fly alone are often the victims. It happens more often than you think assault, misconduct does take place on the aircraft. That is something the fbi take seriously and we investigate predators typically count on potential victims to let their guard down on airplanes. And the fbi says the parents on opportunities to commit assault. People have a right to be safe board. Any aircraft states are as high as they are going to play in. The fbi says inflight assaults generally happen on longhaul trips when the cabin is dark, the victim is sleeping in the middle or window seat and covered with a blanket or jacket. Waking up to their seatmates hands inside their clothing. Were under where you itself. The fbi says men are typically the perpetrators, women and unaccompanied minors are often the victims. The u. S.
