Passengers starting to make their way in at the end of the day here that gate will roll down and this west oakland bart station will be closed through the weekend along with the transbay tube. Bart is already asking anyone needing to make their way from San Francisco to the east bay to start planning now. Now bart has been notifying passengers of the major closure for weeks now. Effectively that means there will be no bart Service Starting at 6 00 saturday morning through sunday night from the east bay to San Francisco. Now bart has set up a bus bridge to take passengers from the 19th street station in oakland to the transbay term that in San Francisco but is asking passengers to restrict their trips as much as possible. Bart is acknowledging the inconvenience but says the closure is necessary to make important updates to the system. We are replacing a very essential component to our track. It is one of the most important sections of track of the entire bart system. Reporter about 80100,000 passengers travel on bart over the weekend. Other transit agencies are stepping up to take as many passengers as possible. Bart will be running more trains system wide to get passengers to other transit options. Brian, youre here with that update. Reporter the socalled rocky fire has burned 13,500 acres and only 5 contained. The fire nearly doubled in size yesterday. There has not been a fire in the area for years so the vegetation is over grown and crackling dry from the drought and ready to burn. More than 600 people have now been evacuated.
