Earlier, we saw crews trying to get to one the survivors trapped inside. Reporter it was chaos. I arrived just outside of the quake. My kid goes to school on the next street. When i sought school, i pannished and i ran and i ran for my children. The priority at this moment is to keep rescuing people who are still trapped and to give medical attention to the injured people. Earlier today, President Trump called president nieto to offer his condolences. We are also hearing first hand account people who experienced the earth quick. Jose ferdinand and his family were glad to be back in san jose a day after an earth quick struck central mexico, killing hundreds of people and causing widespread damage. You know, there were cracks everywhere. It was very, very scary. It was terrible through interpreter . The quake became more intense. It lifted us off the ground, people were run through the streets scared. Reporter i happened around 1 00 in the afternoon yesterday. Mexico city time. Terrified workers in downtown highrises took cover while others rushed to the streets and waited only to have buildings in front of them collapse before eyes. We saw a lot of people in front of us, this man told us. A sea of volunteers rushed to help emergency responders. One viewing provided this video saying that she and ears ran across the street providing shovels. One of the worst scenes is this school that you can see pancaked. Bodies have been pulled from this structure, all but four of them children. Mexico city airport did is have damage inside the terminal but, as you can see, flights have resumed as people in that nation continue to assess the damage and do what they can to help and find survivors. My aunt sent me some pictures of a Shopping Center we go to free wently. I was stunned to see the extent the damage there. Just the concrete facade has been broken off. The pedestrian parkway between the garage and the mall no longer connected. It broke apart in the earthquake. Geological survey says it was located 176 miles southeast of the city of kamashi south of the city of fukushima where an earthquake caused a Massive Nuclear accident. Now to Hurricane Maria downgraded to a category 3 but still causing massive damage through puerto rico. Take a look at the images posted by a woman who lives in the southern end of the island. Wind 115 Miles Per Hour moving to the northwest at 12 Miles Per Hour. If you are driving today in the car, you are driving 12 Miles Per Hour, thats how fast the hurricane is moving to the northwest. Still a category 3. Anything 3, 4, 5, that is considered a mainly is otherhurricane. Here is the track as you can pick out. It this will continue to move to the north and to the west. It could possibly restrengthen after it reaches the open waters of the atlantic. This will eventually move out to the north. As far as the percent of named storms per month on average, the most hurricane activity or tropical activity named storm, that happens august and september. So this is not unusual to see this much action in the atlantic or the pacific and that is happening right now, of course, in the middle of september approaching october. They were digging a 3foot hole when one of the workers contacted power line. The worker was in the equipment that you see beeping in the background. His father was standing outside and neither front close to the hole. He contacted that line. His father is the one who got shocked. He was the worker taken to valley med to be checked out. The alarm went off just before 4 00 this morning as fire quickly swept through this apartment in oakland. When firefighters got here, they found man on the ground outside of this top floor unit. Crews were unable to save him and he died here at the scene. A neighbor who didnt want to show her face called that man calling for help. I heard a lot of yelling, like muffled yelling not like normal argument yelling. I opened the door. He was engulfed in flames. There was nothing i could do for him. He was already engulfed. I think he did his last sure ya trying to let everybody know his last hurrah trying to let people know that there was a fire. Reporter the apartment complex managers said that man was 70yearold muhammad ula. He was formerly a homeless man. This. This is a Great Community of people who look out and care for each other. Everyone is devastated by the loss. Neighbors have come town to down to, you know, support each other. It is a very tight knit community, affected by the loss. Reporter one woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Crews were able to contain the flames to just one unit where the fire started. Even though the fire didnt spread, there was is significant water damage to the unit just below. Two people liveing there will have to be moved to another building while their apartment is repaired. And the Oakland Fire Department says that all of this building smoke detectors and fire alarms were working properly this morning. Investigators with the Fire Department were here throughout the morning, gathering evidence in and around the unit that burned, trying to figure out exactly how this fire started and also, you guy, trying to figure out why the man who died in this fire was unable to escape. Its been exactly 24 hours now since the earth shook here to the tune it of a 7. 1 earthquake. While the hustle and bustle of mexico city continues, the recovery and rescue missions do, too. They have been nonstop. All ice right now are on a school, an Elementary School and a kindergarten called the here in the colonia guapa. Volunteers and firefighters pulled out at least 25 bodies, 21 children and four adults. There are children still trapped here. They were buried alive while in their classrooms during school when that 7. 1 earthquake hit. That is one of about 35 different rescue sites right now. Even though at the school, only bodies have been pulled out, this is very much a rescue mission and not a recovery mission. People holding out hope as they hear calls for help, people crying and pleas. We have a textile factory, five stories that collapsed, 50 to 70 people buried alive underneath. You may be able to make out some of the volunteer rescuers. Interest has been an amazing show of solidarity with civilians working side by side with members from the mexican army, the different Mexican Police forces. It has been amazing to watch. One site where we were earlier, there were at least 1000 volunteer, people waiting to get in there and carry and lift that rock and that concrete with their bare hand.
