Back to the desk. The f. A. A. Is investigating why an air canada jet landed at San FranciscoInternational Airport last weekend after air Traffic Controllers told the pilot to go around. This is the second time this year that there has been a problem with air canada coming into sfo. Allie rasmus is at sfo to give us more details. Good morning. Reporter good morning. Faa spokesperson says in this particular incident that happened sunday night, no passengers were in any immediate danger. Even so it is troubling because what happened here the pilot of the air canada flight, flight 781, failed to respond to instructions on prior to landing from the control tower here at sfo. 781, go around. Air canada 781 go around. Air canada 781 go around. Nu. Reporter now, you can hear the calm measure voice of someone in the control tower telling the pilot to go around and not land on the runway. They were worried that the runway wasnt clear yet. The person in the air tower said go around six times with no response from the pilot of the plane. They were having radio problems and couldnt hear the instructions. The air Traffic Controller also used a red light gun to try to get the pilots attention. Another way to signal him not to land in that particular spot. That also did not work. Luckily the runway was clear and the air canada flight landed without any problem. Now, this comes three months after another air canada flight narrowly missed crashing into other planes at sfo when the pilot mistook a crowded taxi way for the runway. That pilot came as close as 60 feet to another plane and three others on the tarmac before finally pulling up and aborting the landing. Because of that near disaster, the f. A. A. And its subsequent changes made changes to when and how planes can land at night at sfo. Cal fire officials are making slow progress against the fires in the north bay. It could be until friday before the fires are completely contained. Right now they have 89 containment on the pocket fire in geyserville. That is the lowest containment number for any of the big fires. 95 of the atlas fire encircled. That is the biggest containment number to bring you. We expected to be updated by cal fire this hour. We will bring you the information as soon as we get it. The Sonoma County board of supervisors and the Santa Rosa City council will discuss new housing policies in hopes of helping people find somewhere to live. Proposed changes include an ordinance that would prohibit landlords from price gouging. It would allow people to live in rvs at the sites of homes that theyre rebuilding. During a Community Meeting in santa rosa, officials outlined plans for clean up the debris left behind by the fires. Today will be day two of testimony in the San Francisco murder trial of jose ynez Garcia Zarate who is charged with killing kate steinle. He is charged with Second Degree murder and manslaughter after kate steinle was fatally shot as she walked with her father near peer 14 two years ago. Her father was the first person to testify. He spent less than ten minutes on the witness stand. Jose ynez Garcia Zarates attorney told the jury that the shooting was an accident. Were talking about a gun with a history of accidental discharges. It does not have a safety on it. It is marketed that way. They make a model with a safety. This is not one. However the prosecutor showed the gun to the jury and said a ballistics expert will testify that the gun will only fire when the trigger is pulled. She went on to say that kate steinle is dead because jose ynez Garcia Zarate pointed the gun at her and pulled the trigger. The trial is expected to last at least six weeks. Antioch police are investigating a deadly shooting this morning. Officers responded to reports of shots fired just after 10 30 last night near a market on the 900 block of west 10th street. A man shot at least once was found and pronounced dead at the scene. The motive is not known and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to call police. The california Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed one person and involved seven vehicles in the south bay last night.
