Prosecutors are debating whether or not to call rebuttal witnesses next week. They tried to show the shooting death of kate steinle was an accident. I am joined by michael cardoza. What you have put the defendant on the stand . Absolutely not. They position the case perfectly. Mr. Gonzalez has done a good job defending him from everybody i have talked to in the courtroom. The defendant is not the smartest kid on the block. You put them up there and all of a sudden the case becomes all about him. The defense said it was an accident. He said he owned the gun for x amount of years and it never accidentally discharge. It helps. What really hurt the District Attorney cut the government is the defense expert, that said i have 35 years. This was an accident. That gun accidentally discharged speak he did not do it. I would love to talk to the judge to say why did you let the evidence in with this expert to say here is what he did after. He walked away. He was casual. He talked about those things. What he did. He is not a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Why did that come into evidence . The da objected trying to keep it out. I think she was right. That hurts good for the defense. But it hurts them. Rebuttals maybe this week and a Closing Argument next week. How do you think this will play out . I dont like putting the argument over to 20 november. The defense has done a great job. They have a chance at an Involuntary Manslaughter or a not guilty. Because of that one expert. Thank you michael. Dreamers gather on capitol hill and urged congress to find a way to keep the program.
