Thats where about 8,000 people live. Four people were shot and killed. Ten others, including two children, were wounded. Some of the victims say they knew the gunman. Others never had seen him before. There are a number of crime scenes in tehama valley. The crime spree spread across many locations. Many people focusing on the fact that he opened fire at an Elementary School. Reporter the gunman was shot and killed by Law Enforcement officers. Before it came to an end, the gunman targeted an Elementary School. Rancho tehama Elementary School. He shot and wounded two students there but it was the quick thinking of teachers and staff member thats likely prevented a massacre on that campus yesterday. And thats because as soon as officials at the school heard gunfire nearby, they immediately put that school on to lockdown, even before they were order today do so by Law Enforcement. They took all of the students who were out in the yard and rushed them into the classrooms. And they locked the doors. And it turns out the shooter came on to the campus and was seen on Surveillance Video trying to get into some of those classrooms where the students were. But the doors thankfully were locked. Instead, the gunman fired through the walls of the school as frightened students and teachers hid under their desks. Eventually the gunman left the school and drove off, continuing on this rampage, driving through the Rural Community of rancho tehama. Firing at people at random and even shooting into homes. One woman came facetoface with the gunman. Im still alive. And im glad he dont kill me. The one guy stopped had behind me and said there is someone killing people in rancho. And i said no. Who is that . And he said thats me. And he shot at me five times. Thats where kevin neal first shot and killed two of his neighbors, including one woman who had a restraining order against him. Earlier this year, he was charged with stabbing that woman, his neighbor. Neals mother posted his 160,000 bail and thats why he was free yesterday. Now according to reports, the gunmans family says that neal has a history of Mental Illness and had no business owning guns. That is according to relatives. Dispute with neighbors is apparently what motivated the gunman in this case. Thats what the sheriffs officials are believing here. Thats what prompted him to go on the rampage in this Rural Community, killing four people and wounding at least ten others. Alex, youve been there throughout the morning. This is an incredibly small town, corning, with some 7,000 People Living there. Are you getting the sense that this is affecting everyone in in corning and beyond. Reporter we are in corning. The shooting happened well outside of the town of corning. Were in the middle of the town here. But the shooting happened in even Smaller Community than this. Were talking hundreds of people in the community of rancho tehama. And thats where the shooting took place. And, you know, imagine people all throughout here have been impacted in one way or another. But for that small, small community, extremely rural, you know you know, everyone affected in one way or another by what happened yesterday. Especially given the fact that this was a lengthy rampage. Right. Reporter this lasted for about 45 minutes or so with the gunman driving through town, shooting at people at random, trying to get into that Elementary School before finally being shot and killed by authorities. Alex, thank you. And certainly amid all of the destruction and death, were hearing stories of bravery. One man heard the shots being fired near the Elementary School and ran towards the campus and the gunfire. I just ran. And then when i got there, the dude was shooting through the windows. And i said, hey, why dont you shoot this way instead. When i saw the guys face, i knew the guy. I knew the guy. Then he started shooting at me. That is jessie sanders. He was grazed by a bullet on his forearm and showed the wound. He does say that he recognized the gunman and he knows all of the people who were killed. Our question of the day is, should Mass Shootings like the one in at that ham accounty and the one in las vegas and texas be considered acts of terrorism . Yes or no.
