Once officers tried to arrest them, mcclough ran leaving bivins behind. After mcclough exited the vehicle, he was the original driver, tried to flee on foot and was later caught. Bivins then entered the drivers seat of the car and took off. [ gunfire ] reporter thats when chp officers started shooting at bivins. Its unclear if he returned fire. No officers were injured, bivins got away. He is seen here getting gas after the shooting. He was driving a green 1999 for explorer plate 7tyy505. Police say if you see him, call 911 and dont engage with him. He escaped custody. He led chp on a vehicle chase so he is highly dangerous determined to avoid capture. In San Francisco the jury in the kate steinle case went home without reaching a verdict. They will be back at it monday morning. They received the case after 12 days of testimony and spent three more hours at the courthouse today. The prosecution says Jose Inez Garcia Zarate intentionally fired a gun on San Franciscos pier 14 on july 1st, 2015, killing steinle as she walked arm in arm with her father. Defense attorneys argued the killing was nothing more than a tragic accident. The mayor of oakland says she is ready to end future cooperation between Oakland Police and federal immigration agents. I was speaking to a Global Community of survivors, i did not realize how many more there were. Californias attorney general and Alameda Countys District Attorney today announced an 8. 9 million settlement with directv. It resolves allegations that directv improperly disposed of large amounts of hazardous waste. Investigators say they dumped battery, electronics and other materials into dumpsters and that the Hazardous Materials then ended up in local landfills that are not supposed to receive those items. One of the locations was the Waste Management facility on davis street in san leandro. Two former students from Presentation High School in san jose are alleging the school covered up reports of sexual abuse for decades. The women spoke with their attorney today at a news conference. But as ktvus ann rubin explains, the all Girls Catholic School strongly denies any wrongdoing. Reporter the pain is fresh though the allegations of sexual abuse by a Presentation High School teacher happened three decades ago. When i sent my first letter reporting that he had groped me and shown me pictures of a naked woman, the administration didnt even respond. Reporter catherine lahaine says she tried for years to report what happened when she was a student. First to the school, later to police, child protective services, and the catholic diocese. But it was only this fall after she wrote an article for a National Publication that she felt she was finally heard. Reporter sheryl hodge and marshall spoke on behalf of a friend who was allegedly abused by the same teacher in the 90s. She said they went together to report what happened to administrators at the all girls school. Not only are we not getting help. She dismissed both of us were stern warnings to be careful about what we say. Reporter School Officials at presentation strongly dispute any claims that they failed to act. In a statement today, they say, quote, for anyone to suggest that phs had in any manner covered up or condoned any instance of sexual abuse is an outright lie. In fact, they say, they conducted an investigation 25 years ago, though they cannot discuss the outcome. Still, the attorney representing the women says more should have been done. The response by the administration at Presentation High School was to protect the image and reputation of the school and cast the safety and welfare of the students to the side. Reporter allard says the women want three things, an acknowledgment of wrongdoing, a public apology, and a commitment to a drastic change in mindset. He also says there are other victims. The teacher in catherine lahaines case died last year. But in recent weeks, the school put two current teachers on leave for leading to other incidents and for the women in those cases, she says this. I believe you. I support you. And i stand with you as we work to make a difference. New yorks attorney general launched a formal investigation today into ubers response to a hacking incident. New york law requires companies to notify the state attorney general if theres any massive theft of private data. Uber revealed the data breach yesterday but they say it actually happened last year and affected some 57 million accounts. The information stolen included names, email addresses and phone numbers of riders along with the drivers license numbers of some uber drivers. Ubers newly hired ceo says theres no evidence the stolen data has been misused but in the wage of the attack uber fired their head of security. In the east bay General Electric plans to play off at least 100 people from its Software Division headquarters in san ramon. The cuts take effect in january and mirror the companys bigger financial problems. G.
