So even without doug jones in washington, dc, how much confidence is there that this bill will pass because there is still a couple of republicans senators who had some issues. Reporter youre right. A senator on the republican side came up with a question, they have met it negotiated, given them something. The wild card might be marco rubio. He wanted that 21 rate. He thought it should bump up to 20 or 21 for Corporate Taxes. But whats he getting in return . He wanted to help people on the lower income scale with that money. Instead its going to folks who make a Million Dollars a year. So he may not vote for it. Its not a done deal. But talking to republicans on capitol hill, they are ready to wheel and deal for any of the votes. They know they have to get every, single republican to get this through. But so far his republican opponent roy moore has refused to concede. Alabama law allows an automatic recount if the winners margin of victory is less than half of 1 . Jones leads moore by more than 1. 5 with overseas and provisional ballots still to be counted. The alabama secretary of state says it is unlikely that the outcome will change. Today jones said the message of this election is that people want to find common ground. After elections, its a time for healing. Its a time for reaching out. Thats what i intend to do as once i can be sworn in. I told people that im going to try to be accessible to do town halls to try to reach out. I know this was a close election. He says his First Priority in office will be to reinstate funding for the chip program that provides Health Coverage for 9 million children whose families cant qualify for medicaid. We continue to follow developing news in the south bay this evening. A manhunt is now under way in south san jose where police are searching for a wanted burglary suspect. Skyfox was over the scene at pocatello drive. Police have now identified the man as matt santos. When officers tried to make contact with him around 12 45 p. M. He took off. Police have set up a perimeter in the area and right now, residents are not being allowed back into their homes. Theres a little bit of, you know, scare. My mom is a little bit nervous. My daughter is worried, whats going on . Its a lot of police, a lot of, you know, but i told her that everything is okay. As we were speaking with that neighbor, we saw these officers using a k9 to search that area. They are also using a Police Helicopter to broadcast a message urging santos to surrender. Well keep you posted. That manhunt is continuing tonight. But so far no sign of that wanted felon. Two women have been found dead in East Palo Alto of a possible murdersuicide. Officers were called to a home near clark avenue around 9 30 this morning. They found two women ages 50 and 57 with gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene. An investigator said there are no outstanding suspects. The womens names are being withheld until next of kin are notified. This is the first murder in East Palo Alto this year. The two men charged with manslaughter in the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland will soon learn if their case is going to trial. We get new developments from Crime Reporter henry lee live in the newsroom with todays testimony. Reporter the last witness is the citys fire marshal. He was on the stand this afternoon and will testify tomorrow. After which the judge will decide whether the two defendants will stand trial. Those defendants Master TenantDerick Almena and max harris are each charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in the oakland fire which killed 36 people during a music event. Now at a preliminary hearing today, atf agent testified during an interview with harris before his arrest he described himself as the warehouse creative director. He also told her his function was to ensure that the, quote, ship kept sailing and because of the leadership goal, harris stop paying rent. Defense attorneys have not called any witnesses in the preliminary hearing but said they whittled away at the d. A. s case. Also on the stand was the assistant fire marshal who confirmed investigators werent able to determine the cause of the fire but suspect it was electrical in nature. So again, we do expect a ruling by the judge tomorrow as to whether Derick Almena and max harris will stand trial. Thank you. New at 6 00 tonight police with the Foothill De Anza College district in cupertino announced the arrest of two drug suspects and released photos. Its a representative of the methamphetamine and marijuana taken during the bust. Police say one suspect was taken into custody earlier this month. And the second suspect was arrested just yesterday afternoon on campus. Police say that the drug suspects are not students. Surprising moments today at the Alameda County courthouse in oakland put on lockdown after a man left a backpack outside a building and got into an altercation with sheriffs deputies who confronted him. Streets around the courthouse at 12th and oak streets were blocked off around 10 30 this morning. The man doesnt appear to be connected to two firebombing incidents at the courthouse the first happened at 1 a. M. On december fifth and then 4 a. M. This morning when someone set off a butane canister. The two firebombing incidents are very suspicious and we believe they might be linked up. Theres too many coincidences or not a coincidence in this case. We are looking to see if the two previous firebombings are connected. No injuries. San mateo police say the burglars get a lot of practice in busy Shopping Centers located near major thoroughfares. Bridgepointe shopping center, marina plaza off 101, um, its a quick ingress egress and they are out. Reporter Police Say Car burglaries spiked 218 in october but dropped back down last month after police took some steps. We have sent out proactive patrols in high visibility and uniform and black and white so that they can be in those targeted areas. Absolutely. Thank you. A carjacking suspect is in custody and others are being soughtafter a highspeed chase ended with a crash at a country club in millbrae this morning. Officers say the suspects car was racing at speeds of more than 100 miles an hour on 101 and 380 before it sped onto surface streets. Officers were still in pursuit when the stolen car went through the front of the gates of the country club and hit a home near the 7th green. It caused a square for the homeowners. Very loud. Two women with him were arrested shortly after the crash but were later released. Officers are looking for three others who escaped from the car. This project in and of itself was taking a very industrialized office park and we are now creating a brand new community. Reporter this community built in phases by multiple developers will include retail, entertainment and nearly 10,000 new units of higher density housing, about 20 of which will be designated affordable. Google is the biggest landowner in the area. Mark golan of google says they are looking to create a complete neighborhood for the community to live, work, play and stay. Their employees are asking for it. The Company Wants t we have been working hand in hand ever since. Reporter it will increase the stock in Mountain View by 30 and may create a second downtown of sorts. But some residents have concerns that big growth will bring big problems. Reporter still, housing advocates applaud the plan and say it will take cars off the road. They are trying to get housing in there to cut down the amount that people drive to and from North Bayshore. And were really hopeful that Mountain View is showing the way, that it will encourage a lot more of these sorts of leadership moments and saying yes to housing in a big way. Reporter city officials expect about 3500 of these Housing Units to be built over the next two to three years. They say they will start accepting proposals from developers early next year.
