If you are at home trying to figure out what the commute will be like on interstate 80, i do have some data for you. 80 westbound, the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze, 22 minutes. It is getting higher. It was 18 minutes a few minutes ago and will probably go up to 30 or 40 before the morning is over unless something happens. This is a look at the bay bridge. Its backed up for the typical 1015 minute delay before you make it onto the span. Interstate 880 north and southbound look good. This commute does not really get going until later in the morning. You have a window right now to get up to downtown oakland. What has not been good is the altamont pass. Its had a bad week. We had an earlier crash that was minor on the shoulder but it did damage to 205 and 580 commute. If you happen to be getting on after, it looks okay. Some slowing in hayward on 238 and 880. Later today San Jose Police chief eddie garcia has scheduled a News Conference to provide more details about an officerinvolved shooting that ended with an injured woman being taken into custody. This happened yesterday afternoon on feller street in the foothills of east san jose. Neighbors say around 3 30 pm yesterday they heard a loud pop and knew it was a gunshot. We have video from skyfox showing dozens of officers called to the neighborhood for some type of altercation. Police say the woman in the home had a shotgun. She later came out of the house with blood on her hands. Her hands were raised above her head. People who live whereby does nearby so they often see her walking her dog but did not know her very well. She keeps to herself. The interactions weve had have been pleasant but i dont ever remember any issue with her. Police say no one else was in the house of the time of the shooting and they are not saying if the woman shot herself or were shot by police. The woman was taken to a hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Chief garcia will hold a News Conference at 2 00 this afternoon to provide more details about this incident. Federal investigators searching for the cause of yesterday mornings plane crash in concord where the pilot, the only person on board, was killed. No one else was hurt. It was a private plane. The faa said it crashed shortly after taking off from buchanan field in concord around 10 30 am. Skyfox flew over the wreckage on what used to be the Concord Naval weapons station. Reportedly, no one saw the plane crash. A cattle rancher who leases the land found the wreckage and called 911. So far the pilots name has not been released but that plane is registered to a man from martinez. The woman sexually assaulted by former stanford student brought turner says she will no longer participate in the creation of a memorial plaque near the Fraternity House where the assault occurred. Thats because the university rejected two quotes she wanted on the plaque taken from the statement she read in january 2016 when brock turner was sentenced. The spokesperson said the university did agree to suggestions made by the woman to create a garden at the on campus site of the assault but he says the university believes the suggested quotes would be inappropriate. This morning the chp is investigating a possible attack on a tech bus on the kind peninsula. Loss alex savidge is in los altos. This appears to be the sixth time one of these charter buses has been hit. Reporter it certainly appears that someone is targeting these tech buses as they drive along the 280 corridor, shattering the windows on the buses using some type of projectile. Its unclear exactly what is being used. The latest potential attack happened around 4 30 pm yesterday about one mile south of magdalena avenue. A charter bus traveling north on 280 had its window shattered. Thankfully, no one on board at the time was hurt. Chp investigators are still waiting to see the damages bus and talk to the person who made the report. We do know early this month five charter buses had their windows shattered in one day along this same stretch of 280. Those buses were carrying employees from apple and google at the time. These tech buses have been seen as symbols of gentrification. They have been targeted by vandals in the past. The tires on these buses have been slashed in San Francisco. The tech buses have also been the target of protests as well and now we have potentially six of these charter buses that carry employees to and from various Tech Companies, six buses have had their windows shattered on the 280 corridor on the peninsula. He will lay out his goals for the year and as doug luzader reports, there may be some surprises along the way. This is one of the most conventional functions of the modern presidency but this is an unconventional president. That could make for an interesting evening. The stage does not get much bigger than this. While the president has addressed congress before, this is his first, full on state of the Union Address tonight. This is a big speech. Reporter while there is much we do not know about what is planned, one thing is certain, he will play up the economy. I am expecting that this will be a speech which will be focused on victory laps. Reporter victory laps about the explosive growth of the markets in recent month, encouraging unemployment numbers and tax cuts. Beyond that it could get dicey. Especially one day after the fbi appeared to oust its Deputy Director Andrew Mccabe and republicans in the house started the process to unseal a member said to document fbi abuses. Yesterday the white house said it will resume accepting refugees from nations that it views as high risk but that those refugees will have to go through tough screening procedures. The secretary of Homeland Security said additional measures will make it harder for bad actors to exploit the refugee program. U. S. Standards for refugee acceptance are already some of the toughest in the world in the process typically takes up to 2 years. A federal Appeals Court in San Francisco ruled that undocumented immigrant children are not entitled to attorneys paid for by the government when facing deportation. The ninth Circuit Court of appeals rejected a claim by the aclu and immigrant groups that children have a constitutional due process right to a free attorney. The judge said a system already exist to give the children a fair hearing. The aclu says it has not decided its next step in this matter. Later today the San Jose City council is due to decide if the statue of Christopher Columbus should be relocated. Last year a Council Member proposed moving the statue from where it is now in city hall because of the controversy over Christopher Columbus s role in history. Four options will be debated today leaving the statue where its at at city hall, removing and storing it until it can be donated, relocating it to the San Jose International airport, are moving the statue to history park at the bank of italy building. The san jose mayor says he supports removing it from city hall. The state Senate Approved legislation that would require all uc and Cal State University campuses to make the Abortion Pill available for students by the year 2022. All Public California colleges currently have on Campus Health centers but none provide abortion options for pregnant students. The legislation does not cover surgical abortion. The pills are only for women who are 10 weeks pregnant or less. The bill now goes before the state assembly. A marches set for tonight to remember an east bay girl who vanished in 1989 on her way to an ice skating lesson. 13 year old eileen was seen in 1989 as she walked to the ice skating rink. Police say she was kidnapped but had never been able to solve the case. The marches set for 7 00 at wallace middle school. People will then walk to saint ramis Catholic Church on shannon avenue. Coffey park, they are celebrating the end of the cleanup of fire debris. Yesterday the last truckload of debris was removed. Most of that was done by the army corps of engineers and contractors. The drive time between the companys bridge in the macarthur maze has gone up to 25 minutes. Add 20 minutes to that if you were waiting to get onto the bridge. This is all within the realm of normal traffic. This is 880, oakland northbound, an opportunity to drive into downtown without major delays. The altamont pass, 580, it has been a mess. Westbound 205 and 580, earlier crashes and roadwork. There you go. A lot of slow traffic. The rest of the commute and east bay is beginning to get slow, especially 880 as you, to a crash north of decoto. This whole stretch, give yourself an extra 1520 minutes to drive this or use alternate routes. Get on the freeway after decoto if you can. We do have a break in the cloud cover. According to officials, he went snorkeling alone while his family was on the beach. Early this month, a 50yearold man from oakland died while snorkeling alone. And then is 67yearold man from Castro Valley also died near the scene beach. Gun sales have dropped a lot in california. According to fbi records and the sacrament to be, last year, 870,000 guns were sold in california. Thats down 35 from 2016. One reason for a sudden surge in 2016 could be the restrictions on bullet buttons for rifles to make it easier to reload. They were band at the start of last year.
