We will have more coming up for you at 6 00. For now, live in san jose, on in a gomez, ktvu fox2 news. Now to some developing news. The east Bay Regional Parks Department Says a grass fire is burning on the hayward shoreline at the end of west winton avenue and the bay trail. Youre looking at live pictures here from sky fox and you see this is certainly good news. You can see the white smoke there. That means that crews are likely getting water on the flames there. You see firefighters on the ground, pulling some of that hose line. It is hard to tell exactly how large the fire is. You certainly do see that that smoke is drifting from the left side of your screen to the right side of your screen meaning you do have some wind in that area and so that is certainly a concern as far as this fire beginning to spread a little bit more rapidly. The fire broke out just before 5 00 tonight and two acres so far have burned. We are watching it and will continue to monitor it. Lets bring in chief meteorologist, bill martin for more on conditions that firefighters may be facing. Pull up that live camera again, sorry, control room but since it is a live, breaking thing, look where the fire is, julie and alex. It is parallel on the road and look at the wind direction. Where did the fire start . Right along the road. Right on the front end because of the wind direction. So often this time of year, fires start on the roadside. A truck may have gone by and put a cigarette or spark and look at the wind direction which we can clearly see, winds about 15 Miles Per Hour but you can see they have a pretty good handle on this based on the fact we are not seeing any bright flames, a lot of white smoke. It is breezy out there but again, it is interesting. You can tell a lot about a fire especially with our sky fox because you can look and see the wind blowing, the beginning of that burn edge which, in this case, really, in the last week or so, the fires weve had, everyone has been off of a road. So that brings up the point, if you are out and about and you see Something Like that, you see somebody throwing sparks, even if they have not started a fire yet, if you see a catalytic converter, they used to start fires all the time. If you are behind somebody and you see sparse call, 911. If they are dragging a chain on the back of a truck or something, you can spark a fire. That is how so many fires start. If you can get onto it quick, t temperatures have really come up. You can see this is for tomorrow. I want to point out where the heat is. This is travel time. Kids are moving around. There is the heat from atlanta to dallas. We have big humidity in these places. Phoenix as well. Up in here, that is a low Pressure Center bringing the cooler forecast that we are seeing now. We have kind of a trough in their and this is where the cool air is. It is close to us enough to drop temperatures. We are out of the heat wave. Last week we had record heat, and a lot of spare the air days and a lot of extreme weather concerns with the high heat warnings. Fog along the coast, there it is now. That continues to be the case for tomorrow. Tomorrow, like today, about the same. Temperature wise, five wise, it will be a little cooler tomorrow.
