Team broke through the window of a home in milpitas to end a four hour long standoff. Police say the suspect attacked a woman with a knife, then barricaded himself inside his apartment on south temple drive. Ktvus Elissa Harrington is out there this morning and what can you tell us now . Reporter behind me is the suspects bedroom window which you can see is broken. That is where he was holed up for hours. Police say that man would not respond to their verbal commands so they used flash bangs to try to get him to cooperate. This all started last night around 11 30. Milpitas police say the suspect assaulted a woman just around the corner with a large knife. That happened on the 1600 block of east calaveras boulevard. The suspect then ran to his apartment where he barricaded himself and would not come out. That man was seen in the window opening and closing the blinds. Crisis negotiators tried to speak with him. Officers evacuated the entire building. We tried to negotiate, that was unsuccessful. Our s. W. A. T. Team used diversionary tactics, flash bangs to try to gain his cooperation. Eventually our s. W. A. T. Team was able to make entry into the apartment and take him safely into custody and he was uninjured in the arrest. Reporter the mans apartment is located on temple drive. That female victim is expected to be okay. Police say the suspect did not know her and it is unclear why he attacked her. Now, police were out here for several hours this morning. We saw them inside of the apartment taking pictures and collecting evidence. Again, we dont know what led to this attack. Live in milpitas, Elissa Harrington, ktvu fox 2 news. Oakland police are searching for a gunman blamed for a Liquor Store Shooting where two people were shot. It happened last night at a liquor store on 59th street and telegraph. Investigators havent said what led up to that shooting but a witness told ktvu the gunman drove away in a dark colored suv. The shooting victims are in the hospital. One was shot in the leg. The other shot in the arm. We are waiting for updates from Oakland Police about their investigation and the search for a suspect. San Leandro Police have relieved body camera video of a deadly officerinvolved shooting. Officers say they were called to north boulevard on june 11th where a man with a machete was exposing himself to children. Now, investigators say officers gave multiple commands to 56 yearold Anthony Gomez to drop the weapon. He eventually dropped it but then went to sit on a neighbors porch and officers say at that point gomez was holding a dark object in his hands that resembled a gun. As the officers began moving, mr. Gomez abruptly stood up and with a dark object in his hand extended his arms in a shooting stance and pointed that object directly towards the officers. Mr. Gomez then shot at a challenging comment, quote, lets go [ bleep ] one officer fired a single shot striking and killing gomez. The object he was carrying turned out to be a dark painted piece of wood. The Alameda County District Attorneys Office is investigating the shooting. Time is now 6 06. New this morning the Richmond Planning Commission will not recommend a ban on coal storage to city council. The decision came about midnight after a marathon public hearing, more than 60 people signed up to speak. Now for 37 years a Cargo Transport Company Levin Richmond operated a rail line and Marine Terminal in richmond and recently started carrying coal from utah to load it onto ships in richmond. Critics of the ban say the company would close down, 62 jobs would be lost but supporters of the ban claim dust from the coal pollutes their neighborhood. Every morning i go out to my car and theres a fine layer of coal dust over everything. Coal dust everywhere in our yard. I worry about what its going to his lungs. The company has been in the Richmond Community well over 30 years and have been parters in the Richmond Community. We will continue to work with the Richmond Community. We want to be here. The company Levin Richmond wants a delay on that decision on a ban until the results of an air quality study are complete. Two more arrests have been made in the shooting earlier this month at the tan fran mall one of two shooters. A 14yearold boy from the shoo 2nd inside the mall. A 16yearold boy is believed to be the second shooter and a 15yearold boy is also facing charges. Two teenagers injured in the shooting are recovering. Time now 6 07. Breaking news, new information about a story that was breaking news yesterday morning. A truck driver now in custody, accused of hitting and killing a man in the tenderloin. Now, the crash happened at mason and eddie streets yesterday. Police say the truck driver did not stop. The police eventually found the big rig at broadway and front streets. Police say the driver, 65year old oscar mattis, was questioned and later arrested. The man who died identified as 54yearold michael evans, he is the 12th pedestrian to hit and killed in san fr so far this year. City transportation Officials Say the tenderloin is part of what they called the Injury Network which means its an area that sees a lot of collisions involving pedestrians and cyclists. Our goal is to reengineer all the streets in the high Injury Network. Last month we redesigned Taylor Street nearby street that used to have dangerous speeding. We are trying to slow the speeds down and make it safe for people to walk around. The driver involved in yesterdays crash was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. Muni says it was testing a Fire Suppression system early yesterday morning. The sprinklers worked but the drainage system did not. Water flowed from the pipes into the muni station and down to the b. Track Officials Say a horse threw its rider, then turned sharply and collided with another horse before racing started yesterday. Now, one jockey was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover. Track Officials Say this was a freak accident and that they have made many safety changes following the deaths of 30 horses at the santa anita racetrack. In philadelphia, four people and three Police Officers were treated for injuries after a highrise building fire. Overnight hundreds of people were evacuated after a fire started in a trash compacter. As i look at the maps here, i dont even see a lot of slow traffic on highway 4 where i can reliably count on some. Theres a little bit right there and thats about it. We are just in a pattern where its a little bit more cool air aloft, a little cooler forecast on the afternoon highs, although when you get the low and the high, the mean will probably be a little bit above average but the high temps are really the most important thing here so 60s, 70s and 80s and temperatures look like they will bottom out today, warmer saturday, more so sunday, then ease into warmup inland as we head towards early next week.
