In Contra Costa County firefighters are making progress on the marsh complex fire. They hope to have full containment by tomorrow. As of late today, crews had the fire 85 contained. The marsh complex is actually a series of fires that started early yesterday morning along marsh creek road between clayton and brentwood. So far 655 acres have burned, but no structures have been damaged. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for a heatrelated injury. Many communities in drier airs build with wildfires in mind, but many towns in the wetter parts of the region do not. Instead development has been broadly allowed in pockets surrounding forests in coastal territories. Researchers say its difficult to predict exactly when the region may start seeing more significant wildfires.
