With pg e calling for possible outages, he decided not to open either. We would work if we knew the times. Are we going to close at 5 . We dont know nothing. Reporter right nextdoor sweet dreams. Reporter customers say it is better to be safe than sorry. We are getting ice putting coolers, but we are not panicking. It is what it is. Now to the news conference. Scott will come up and provide an update with regards to what we are seeing for the weather forecast. Scott . Thank you. Pg e meteorology. Meteorology continue to track it has been tracking over the last week what we call a diablo wind storm. We are going to have a weather system that is an inside slider, a classic set up for what we know as diablo wind across northern california. As the system moves south thursday into friday, it will produce santa ana winds across southern california, including portions of our tore tory, the mountains. This is a california wide fire weather of it. Meteorology continues to track the first phase occur today. We had north winds going, Sacramento Valley as well as some of our adjacent train on either side of the valley. We saw portions of reading had guessed the 50 Miles Per Hour. One thing i just wanted to go back and say about the diablo in santana wind events, these events historically are the events that caused the most destructive wildfires in california history. We are seeing some of the same conditions that are going to develop then we have seen in previous offshore diablo and santa ana wind events. It is a brick area situation. Meteorology continues to court nate with their agency partners. Every day we are joining interagency calls with the National Weather service in the northern operations protective services. Essentially, the meteorologists forecast agencies are aligned that this is a high risk event. If you dont know, the National Weather service has issued widespread red flag warnings across most northern california. Those red flag warnings are also in effect for the to has to be mountains as well as southern california. What i am showing on the screen is that our Predictive Services northern operations also has this as a high risk event. Pg e meteorology is looking at similar conditions as well. We expect a weather event in totality to start to get out of the cell past of our territory. We will be monitoring weather stations to give the all clear to our cruise. We will determine if there is damage and also we can reenter jazz. That is it in a nutshell. Lets move now to a situational update in regards to the operational actions that we have been taking as a result of this potential risk that scott talked about. The first phase of our dnr jason was completed this morning. About 500 of our customers in the sierra foothills in the north bay area experienced it between midnight and 4 am. We have also identified in the interest of Public Safety to minimize the impact and disruption to our customers, we have identified limited areas where we can safely energize sections by reconfiguring our electrical system because that part of our circuit and system was not in the high fire threat area. As a result, we have been able to bring service back to approximately 44,000 of the 500,000 customers. Additionally, because wind gusts have reduced in the northwest portion of the sierra foothills , we are actively working on determining if we can bring service back to one of our transmission lines that is the primary supply of the humboldt area. If we are able to perform this work safely this evening, which includes performing safety inspections on our transmission line to assess every inch and determine if theres any potential damage that has occurred, safely repair the damage, we will be able to bring service back to another approximately 60 or 80,000 customers this evening if we are able to do that work safely. The second phase of our shutoffs in the sierra foothills area started around 3 pm. It is ongoing over the next couple of hours. Also as part of our second phase, we are continuing to monitor the weather in the east bay, south bay, and santa cruz areas, and we will be making a decision about the timing later this evening because whats changed from the customer we had yesterday is that there is a shift in the timing of the weather pattern. We might be able to delay the start time of that. Additionally, there were some questions about the impact of some of our mass transit infrastructure yesterday regarding the call the cops tunnel. We were able to provide backup generation. That is currently in place serving the call the cops tunnel. That should not be impacted. In addition, we were also able to mitigate the impact to the tom lantos tunnel in the Half Moon Bay area. We were able to reconfigure the electric supply to that tunnel and medicate the impact as a result. We have also provided backup generation to two of our park stations so that we minimize any potential impacts to Parts Service as part of our process. In total, the second phase of the shut off impacts approximately 250,000 customers we anticipate the peak risk to continue through the late part of tonight into early morning, and forecast of the weather around noon tomorrow. Again, keep in mind, it is a weather forecast. It could be subject to change. Finally, the 3rd base that impacts our Current County in regards to the tehachipi area. The scope has been reduced significantly. We indicated that customers could be indicated in kern county. That number has been further reduced, and the impact we are currently estimating is down to 4600 customers. We are in the process of notifying those specific customers. It is also important to remember as we said yesterday, some of our customers may experience a power shut off even though the weather conditions in their specific area are not extreme. The reason this happens is because of the interconnected nature of the electrical system where the power lines Work Together to provide electricity across our cities, counties, and regions. As i have stated in some of my points that we just covered, they are doing their level best to have a unwavering focus on minimizing the impact. Is why we are switching operations and able to maintain supply to some of our customers. Lets now turn to whats ahead whats the weather event passes. We can begin performing visual safety inspections of every inch. We have 45 helicopters that are ready to fly and begin the visual safety inspections as soon as the adverse weather subsides. Additionally, we have 63 6300 on the ground personnel qualified and ready to provide inspections. We want our customers to be aware that based on the large number of outages and the potential unknown in regards to the amount of damage to our system, we only know that as we start the visual safety inspections. It could take several days to fully restore power. We can only perform the visual safety inspections during daylight hours, and our crews are working as safely and will be working as safely and as quickly as possible to get the power restored. We will continue the ongoing communication and engagement with all of our customers, local agencies, state agencies, cities, and counties throughout the process so that everyone has the most uptodate information. With that, i would like to request our chief customer officer lori to come up here and share thoughts and insights on what we are doing to maintain the updates to our customers and our communities. Lori . First of all [ no audio ] you have been listening to a pg e press conference about the first, second, and third phases of the planned shut off. First of all, i would like to show our sincerest appreciation to our customers, for their patients, certainly during this outage, but especially as they have been trying to interact with us the our webpages and get information about our outages and how it is affecting them at their residence. I have good news. We have established a new website that we will be sharing to our social channels after this press conference. That new website will enable customers to see the maps where the outages are occurring. They will be able to put their addresses in the search their addresses, they will also get information about where they can meet with us at our Customer Resource Centers. Again, we have a new website that we are standing up. We will have that website in effect for the duration of the event, and that will be the source of information for customers to check on outages in their area, their community, as well as the Additional Information about their specific home and location. As i mentioned, on the channel, we are also going to post information about a Customer Resource Centers. We have 28 set up as of today and operating. They opened up at 8 am. We have an additional five that will be opening up tomorrow morning for a total of 33 Customer Resource Centers that will provide water, resources for customers to talk to employees to get information, as well as restroom facilities, cooling centers or Heating Centers as necessary. They will have the ability to come in and charge their devices. Those will be also posted on this new website. Again, i want to be very clear that we have experienced intermittent outages. We know it has been very difficult for customers. We have made available our other channels and prioritize those customers which are calling into our call centers. We have a new website that will be posted and has Maximum Capacity so our customers will beable to interact with us and receive the information that is most important to them. I would like to turn it back over to sumeet. Thank you. I want to reiterate our sincere apologies for the impact of not having the pge. Com website available. We understand and appreciate our customers. We want to thank our media outlet partners. Many of you in the room here have been helpful in being able to provide critical information that our customers were not able to obtain from pge. Com. We thank you for your partnership and your continued interest in the safety of our customers and communities. One final comment i would like to address before we take questions, i want to emphasize the safety of our employees and our contractors as well as our customers and communities is our primary responsibility. Our employees and contractors are working hard to ensure our system continues to operate safely so the power line will be restored quickly after the weather passes. We realize and understand the impact of a hardship as a result of this decision that we have made. But our request of our Community Members and our customers is to ensure that our employees and contractors, they have families that live in your communities. They have friends that are members of your communities. Lets just ensure their safety as well as they are doing this work in the interest of your safety. With that, i will turn it over to keith, and we can get into the q a session. We are learning some interesting information from this news conference. That was Vice President sumeet scene. He talks about the different phases when it comes to the power outage. Uses the first phase was completed this morning. 300,000 customers in the sierra foothills and north bay lost power. He did have some good news saying that they have not been able to reenergize power to 44,000 customers and that they may also be able to bring power back on tonight for an additional 60 or 80,000 customers. The second phase is going to happen later tonight. This is during the big weather events when the wind started to pick up. The second phase includes the east bay, the south bay, and the santa cruz area. He did say that there has been a shift in timing of this high risk weather pattern that could delay. They have been talking about starting the shut off around 8 pm tonight. Now they are saying those power shutoffs could be delayed because theres been a shift in the timing of the windy weather. He also confirmed that the call to tunnel will not be impacted. They brought in generations to keep the tunnel open. Also the tom lantos tunnel in the Half Moon Bay area will remained open. As part of the second phase they are talking about possibly 250,000 pg e customers will lose their power later tonight for tomorrow around noon, possibly for several days after that. s mickey also mentioned there is a third phase in kern county because a number of people. Only 4600 customers. He talked about why this will take so long, perhaps several days, to reenergize the power lines. They 45 helicopters that will begin aerial inspections as soon as the weather dies down. They also have 6300 people on the ground. They really have to examine every single into these lines to make sure they are safe for they can reenergize those lines. Again, they say that could take several days. One thing that is interesting, people who are not in particularly high risk windy areas could lose power because of the crossover in the lines. When they deenergize, there is some type of crossover that happens. Some areas would not expect to lose power but will end up losing powers. He also mentioned there is a new website because the website were people have been going on to enter their addresses has been crashing. They are going to release a new website. He did not tell us what was yet. It will be active as long ass weather events is moving forward to you can get information on outage maps and into your address to find out if your home or business will be affected. They also talked about the centers that are opening where people can come down to recharge iphones or ipads. A lot of information coming from the press conference tonight, including the outages in the south bay, the east bay, and on the peninsula, could start sometime around 8 pm, although they may push that back. We are going to take a short break. We will be back. We are going to get another date. We were listening to the press conference. They were all hearing 8 pm tonight and there has been a possible delay in the timing. Overnight tonight will be the worst of it. We are going to see it start to ramp up. It might be delayed an hour or two, but i dont see a major significant delay. I still think 89, we will see things pick up. I want to make sure people are being vigilant. I will talk you to the forecast of what we are expecting. As you can see as we go to the night tonight, it starts to pick up. This is 11 pm. Now we have upwards of 35 Miles Per Hour gusts in places like napa. In the overnight hours, this is where it is the most dangerous. You see these numbers, 43 Miles Per Hour, 36 Miles Per Hour. That is where it is going to get the roughest in the overnight hours. As we get into 10 am, it will still be gusty as you wake up tomorrow morning. It really isnt until the afternoon. Now it is 4 pm you see a different story. You see things starting to get better. We are under the red flag warning right now. That is for our north and east bay valleys and also our heels. Expecting gust possible upwards of 60 Miles Per Hour. Santa cruz under the red flag warning. The valleys about 40 Miles Per Hour. I wanted to point out also, humidity levels have been dropping. We get dry air, and that means it could be much easier for fires to start. Check out napa where humidity levels are just a little percent. 11 . Even though the wind or 10 Miles Per Hour, if he gets picked up, it can be difficult. This is an indication of what is to come. We will keep an eye on it as we head throughout the night. Many people in napa county have been without power all day. They are now bracing for the high winds tonight. For some, it has been an unsettling reminder of the calm before the firestorm in 2017. Alyana gomez is in napa. Just looking at you, it doesnt look like it is that windy right now. Reporter yes, frank. It is not windy. I heard you talking about the windy conditions and how the weather pattern has seemed to change. You see that here. Earlier today we were expecting when youre conditions in napa. You can see here, it is not really windy at all. Went further in the valley earlier today. It was a bit windier there. Here it is not that bad. I want to tell you why we are here at this roadside gas station. This is Valley Liquor and gas. The gas is not working because power is off. They have their generators working providing food and water. One of the few places with water nearby. It is pretty interesting because the people in napa dont quite a and how sporadic these outages are. Customers here, atlas peak road , the silverado resort, they have had power all day. The gas station and people beyond this gas station have had no power. Atop atlas peak, trees re
