A 6yearold vallejo boy spent christmas in the hospital after he was shot by a stray bullet. Gunfire started about 6 30 tuesday night. An area on ohio and mariposa streets off interstate 80. Neighbors say they heard morethan a dozen gunshots. Some bullets hit homes. Boy was with family at the time what bullet hit him in the upper body. He was driven to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. You is posed supposed to be wake up and opening up presents and eating food and being around people he loves but he is in at hospital. I pray and hope that his family can recover from this because this is unacceptable. Vallejo police have not announced whether they believe it was an act of one gunman or multiple shooters. Vallejos mayor says he has been in communication with the police chief about the shooting and they are working on a Violence Reduction program for that particular neighborhood. Back to developing news a late night crash near pleasanton that left three teens dead and two with serious injuries. Ktvu alyssa has new information to bring us from the chp. Reporter good morning. Thats right. You can see the road remains closed and thats because pg e is on scene repairing a power line. Chp told us that there were five teenagers in this car. Two were brothers, one a cousin of the brothers, and the others friends. Family members came to the scene last night. Its terrible. Its just pretty much your Worst Nightmare and never want to see on the job. Reporter the chp says the driver of a hyundai sedan was traveling southbound on foothilroad crossing into northbound lanes and veered into a power pole and slammed into a tree. Three males were found trapped inside the vehicle. They were all pronounced dead at the scene. Two others a male and a female, were ejected. They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. This particular roadway is a twolane country roadway one northbound and one southbound lane divided by a double yellow lane striping. This particular portion of the road, there is a slight curve prior to the collision scene. Whether or not that played a part in the collision, still under investigation at this time. But, as is your typical two lane country road. Reporter the cause of the crash remains under investigation. All those in the vehicle were from the dublin area. No names have been released. These were all teens. Chp says they were under the age of 18. We are not sure what high school they went to, but, again a. Very tragic scene. What we know is pg e is still out here making repairs and they plan to be out here until late this afternoon maybe until 4 p. M. So expect the road to be closed until then. Reporting live near pleasanttonon, elissa harington. Police are investigating a mysterious death finding aunconscious man in the street. He was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police checked into whether he was hit by a car but investigators say they ruled out a Traffic Accident as the cause of death. They are considering it homicide. This was san joses 33rd homicide of 2019. There were 27 last year and 34 the year before that. Today the four mothers who took only a vacant home are due in court. They and their children moved in last month. They say it had been vacant for years but wedgewood a Real Estate Investment company that bought the house in july evicted the families earlier had month a. Oakland Community Land trust offered to buy the home and rent it to the mothers, but an attorney for the mother says the company wont negotiate. And now at least one republican senator alaska senator Lisa Markowski told tv station she has concerns about comments majority leader mcconnell made about coordinating everything about the trial with the white house. More than 20 new state laws go into effect on the first day of the new year. One of them is the gig worker law which reclassifies independent contractors including ride share drivers as employees. The law was approved to make sure those workers are at minimum wage and get paid sick days and health insurance. But not all independent contractors like the law. Including many free lance musicians and journalists. Recently independent Truck Drivers and free lance journalists filed separate lawsuits to have the law overturned. Another now law will bump the minimum wage in california up to 13 an hour for companies that have at least 23 employees. Workers in Smaller Companies will see their minimum wage increase to 12 an hour. By the year 2023, california workplaces regardless of the number of employees will have to pay at least 15 an hour. And several bay area cities will start with 15 an hour. Belmont and minimum low park will raise their wages. Petaluma and South San Francisco will bump up the pay to 15 for large employers and 14 an hour for smaller ones. San mateo minimum hourly wage is 15 and thats increasing to 15. 38 come january 1st. 7 08 your time.
