The busy roadway was shut down early this morning. Sarah is live there to tell us what we know so far. Good morning. Reporter good morning. The scene has been cleared and the road is open right now. A lot of Police Activity was here earlier this morning. We will take you to video of what it looked like earlier and tell you exactly what we know so far. We have reached out to the Police Department for information but have not heard back. Accrue reports that two were possibly stabbed. This happened just after 2 am around san salvador street and first street. A popular area with nightclubs and bars. Police taped off part of the street for the investigation. Paramedics were helping at least one man who seemed to be injured and laying in the street. Officers were questioning people outside the bars. We dont know what led up to the possible stabbing or conditions. We are working to get those details confirmed. To give you an idea, there are bars and nightclubs around here and this a halfmile away from san jose state. We reached out to the Police Department and are hoping to hear back from them once we get information from them we will share with you. Back to you. Bart police are investigating an officer involved shooting that left one man with lifethreatening injuries. This happened shortly after 2 00 p. M. Yesterday at the station. There was a report of domestic disputes on a northbound train. They confronted the man when the train pulled in. Officers got on the flat form and challenge that individual who ran off the train, down the platform and onto the track. At that point, a gun was produced by the suspect. Our officers ultimately shot. Eight or nine in a row. People started running out. Investigators have not revealed the name of the man who was shot. The shooting forced the closure of the station. Police say a man was killed after his car crashed into a tree. This happened just after 5 00 yesterday afternoon. Officers say they found the victim alone in the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are trying to determine what led up to the crash but they dont believe alcohol or drugs played a role. Fire officials are investigating a fire that caused serious damage to home. This was reported just after 9 00 last night. This is video from this a listen app. It caused major damage to the main section of the home. The area was closed off for several hours as fire crews mopped up the fire. Police in San Francisco are investigating a collision that left a pedestrian injured. This happened last night near lombard and snyder streets. When Police Arrived they found a person suffering from life threatening injuries. The person was taken to the hospital. No updates to that persons condition. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating. Americans will be evacuated from a cruise ship in japan today. The deadly virus has affected more than 69,000 people and killed 1600 people. Japanese Health Officials consider 67 people have tested positive for the virus. We need to get them off and do it in a safe way that is sensitive to the health of the individual. The state department is evacuating americans who wish to leave today. There are reports that one man whose wife is sick said he will not leave. If anyone is showing symptoms of the virus they will not be able to board the flight. Passengers will stay at the air force base. No confirmed cases in the alameda county. The mayor joined with the chamber of commerce yesterday to calm Health Concerns in oakland. Businesses report people are staying away from the neighborhood and they blame it on the fear of the coronavirus rumored by posts online. Lunch hour we usually have a long line. The acting secretary says agents are being moved to help ice agents who have been stretched thin keeping up with millions of illegal immigrants. We had an announcement that we were all going to be on board for 24 hours because a person had the coronavirus. Everyone on board was put on a two week quarantined. Embassy notified americans on board about plans for a voluntary evacuation taking place sunday night. They are coming in tonight to with two charter planes. The planes will go to an air force base first to let off passengers that are in from the western states. The rest of the people will stay on the plane and go to texas. The governor signed the law pushing class times back. Science shows teenage students who start the day later increase academic performance and attendance is better. The new state law does not take effect until 2022. Some schools decided to make the change a little bit sooner. The mayor has vetoed funding that would have saved hundreds of canceled classes at city college of San Francisco. Administrators cut 300 classes for the Spring Semester citing the schools ongoing budget issues. The mayor has now vetoed 2. 7 million in city funds that wouldve reinstated all the classes. A busy roadway was shut down for stabbing. Police were on first street after 2 am. Officers then questioned several people outside bars in the area. At least one injured man was helped. Some people at the scene say two were stabbed but there has been no official word from san jose police. And officer involved shooting left a young man with what is being described as life threatening injuries. This happened just after 2 00 yesterday afternoon. Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute that happened on board a northbound train. They confronted the man after it pulled into the station. The officers got onto the platform and challenged that individual who ran off the train , down the platform and onto a trackway. Then a gun was produced by the suspect. Officers ultimately shot. Eight or nine in a row. People started running out like i thought it must be gunshots with everybody running. The shooting forced the closure of that station for several hours. Police say a 23yearold man was killed after his car veered off the road and hit a tree. This happened on fairway avenue near Central Boulevard. They found the victim alone in the car slumped over the wheel and he was pronounced dead. Investigators are trying to determine what led up to the crash. They do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role. Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that caused damage to her home. This was on hanover street. This is video from a citizen app. The fire caused major damage to the main section of that home. The Fire Department close the area off for several hours so work crews could mop up after the fire. Police in San Francisco are investigating a collision that left one seriously injured. This happened last night on lombard and steiner street. When the Police Arrived at the scene they found a person suffering from lifethreatening injuries. That person was hospitalized. No update to their condition this morning. The driver did remain on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Americans will be evacuated from the diamond princess cruise ship and head to Travis Air Force base. The virus has killed over 1600 people. Health officials confirm more people have tested positive for the virus. For more than one week the ship has been docked off the coast of yokohama under quarantine. We need to get them off of there. One man said he is not going to leave. If anyone is showing symptoms of the virus, they will not be allowed to board the flight. The agency needed to correct a report on provider payments to stay during the Second Quarter which delayed payments to providers. We communicate as much as we can. Delays can happen at the end of the fiscal year. We asked the state about the delays and they did not respond. They said january and february payments were processed and sent on time. These issues come up statewide. We are not the only alternative program to pay and address issues like this. Provider say they dont care where the bottleneck happened, they just need to get paid on time to keep the doors open. If youre doing it just for the money, you need closure doors. Youre not going to get rich off of this. A lot of us providers dont do it for the wrong reasons, we do it for the right reason. When we cant pay our mortgage or other bills, that is when providers start to be in it for the wrong reason. I can afford to do this anymore. Some providers have been forced to close. Parents lose their job. Some relief may be on the way but its going to take a while. Officials say they are working to implement statewide child care policy changes that would streamline the process for payments. Right now checks go through the mail. We dont want the quality to be compromised. Imagine how surprised he was when he found that third cousins was listed on a food delivery app without his knowledge. We didnt even have an order. Somebody walked in and said i want to order a park chop. That hasnt been on the menu four months. The menu he had was overyear old. One line he found the restaurant listed for delivery. He says he serves seasonal dishes so the menu posted online was out of date. In the Online Community of delivery drivers, unauthorized deliveries was just the tip of the iceberg. Kimberly james says sometimes the deliveries dont even come from restaurants at all. In one case she pulled up to a mans home for an earlymorning order. I had to sit on his couch, in his house and watch him put the food and prepared. She has picked up food from diners and trailers. They are stealing electricity from construction sites. I was a corporate trainer for mcdonalds. It is a food safety issues. Trailers are not uncommon and are legal provided they follow the same rules as brick andmortar. It is a food delivery ecosystem. This trailer in a parking lot is functioning as a permitted thai restaurant. A ghost kitchen. Delivery only. We have contacted the department of health. They said food Preparation Services must meet the same guidelines as other restaurants. Ghost kitchens are perfectly legal but the way many apps are set up there is the potential for bad actors to slip in. Diners at third cousins say they worry about where their food comes from. I would be disturbed to find out i ordered food from my favorite restaurant and it was made in a ghost kitchen and delivered to me and i paid some stranger for that. Reporter no drivers have stepped up to talk about homes in the bay area. We contacted uber eats and in response uber said, we take food safety very seriously. We require contracts with partners whereby they agree to abide by certain food safety standards. This man says he has no idea if any customers received food that he did not prepare. The first night when delivery order started pouring and he spoke with the company. I had people calling me and wanting to know what was going on. I said i want my menu taken down. We did not sign up for that. Delivery Companies Say restaurants can reach more customers and customers try new food. As for complaints from businesses that dont want delivery, they say in the off chance a merchant wants to be removed from the platform, all they have to do is reach out to us and we will remove them. They are not sure how they ended up on the apps and says its an ongoing process to scrub the restaurant from all delivery services. It takes time. Im sure ill get to the bottom of it. I may have to get an attorney involved. For those who use delivery, if they want to know where their food is coming from they should contact the restaurant directly or the department of health. But the doors are definitely more open now and when you look at the rise of this in the bay area we see more younger people getting involved in the broader financial field. More people of color. More women. So i think it is a positive thing and i think our organization, financial women of San Francisco, reflects that. We are a very Diverse Organization and we have become more so in the eight. We are a very Diverse Organization and we have become more so in the 8 to 9 years i have been involved in we are a very welcoming group. It is black History Month and the fact that you are a first and a pioneer even in that position and as it changes, what do you think it says . Do you think that eight or nine years ago as the president s were being looked to a different people were joining that maybe it was not so much that we do not want someone to take the lead role but maybe there were changes in perceptions as it happened over the decades since you first joined . What does it say to the people joining organization now to say what does this mean and what is the future . I think my role in the organization shows the importance of having a pipe line because we are a volunteer led organization. You do not get asked to be the president if you are only there for one year and you have to be there are several years and have to put in the work and people have to see you are reliable. And at a certain point i was talked to and they said we would love to have you as our president. I think that just shows where the hard work ends up. And things do not happen overnight but things do not take 50 years either. Do you find young people joining the organization like 10 years away from may be taking the same position have the same perspective of, you know, i think with history and the future, when you talk to young people sometimes about how hard it was they are like what do you mean . That is a benefit right . That they do not realize there were so many barriers and do you think the barriers financially were a perception or should women be in the field or hold this role or do they look toward a man first to say maybe they are the ones . There were definitely barriers and perception, both in the broader industry and within the women. Because a lot of times women learn about finance from their own mothers or grandmothers so if their mothers or grandmothers were trained the man has to take care of the finances that will be passed along it can take time to change those social views. The exciting thing about the current moment though is i dont think it has ever been easier to get Financial Information at any level so just in terms of very basic ideas on how to manage finances, i just remember getting personal finance for dummies back when the for dummies series was considered new. Whereas now you can go on any website or you can go to any social media form and get a lot of information. Yes you can google a lot and what do we do moving forward . In another several years we decided went you were president to make these changes or we reached out and worked so we are making the right moves Going Forward . A lot of it is women helping women and that is what we try to do and we do have a number of programs including one on women and wealth we just had where we talk on the same issues speak we also have a mentoring program. In their everyday lives if you are an mother or an aunt or a godmother, if you have women or young girls involved in your life on any level, or say that you are a volunteer, there is so much you can do in terms of role modeling. This is what you need to know about money and this is what you need to know about finance so that girls become more confident at a younger age and they begin looking at careers in finance instead of thinking of this as being a mans field they say this is something i can do. My mom was in banking and i never realized it was not an option and who was your role model . Years ago i got an internship at a bank through my dad. I met a lot of amazing women who were involved in banking. They became my role models and now you are a role model for so many more, Olivia Barbie thank you for coming.
