You might think a, is that some rain . Well, the central part of california perhaps. Sprinkles in san jose, but it is kind of falling apart. This is the system that will track to the south and east and unfortunately not bringing us any rain in Southern California, getting a little bit out of that. It will be a much more average day today, temperature wise. Winds are calm as well, a little bit of wind at sfo but nothing that should be slowing fights down. A white skilled search continues today for a couple that vanished while hiking near point ray, searchers will be looking from the air, the ground, and will be searching the water as well. Yesterday the campus was closed for a second day after the trichloroethylene was found in the groundwater there under the school. The chemical is typically used in industrial solvents. The district discovered traces of the chemical, after a Petroleum Tank on campus was removed, the testing team will determine whether the air in the school is contaminated by vapors. We are hoping to find in the testing that we do, that we are doing in conjunction with the state and the county that we will find that there is no threat in that air. That is what we are hoping. The source of the contamination unclear, the district is trying to find a temporary place to accommodate the school 350 students until the safety issue is sorted out. The nationwide search for a new police chief continues in oakland after this weeks surprising move, the citys Police Commission voted unanimously thursday night to fire patrick, 3 years after she became oaklands First Female Police chief. Commission said kirkpatrick was not moving fast enough to carry out the federal order to reform the Embattled Police department. The efforts include using boats, a plane, drones, and ground teams. It has been more than a week now since 77yearold, carol, and 72yearold, ian, were last seen at an air b b. The search switched from a rescue to Recovery Mission, assuming the couple wont be found alive. Within the last few days, ground teams set their focus on smallest bay, 4 tracking dogs picked up on a sent in the same spot. We do believe there is a possibility that there couldve been a double drowning. Often times when one person starts to drown and they are next to somebody else, they will grab hold of that other person. They kind of pointed out, that is because of the low pressure system that is off the coast, that will be tracking away. I wish he was bringing us rain but not so much. We are getting back to average today, we have been so far above average. San francisco yesterday you were in the low 70s. Average is 60, today we are going to get up to 59. It should be a nice day out there. We wont be hitting the record from 2002, close to it yesterday though, 53 right now in San Francisco, we have some chilly spots in the north bay. Napa, about 40. Down in san jose right now, we are looking live, 54 degrees. These are the clouds are there. It is courtesy of the low pressure system. There are a few returns on the radar there, around modesto. Oakley they are getting a little rain. Unfortunately for us it looks like sprinkles, that is about it. I dont think any measurable will come of it. You can see some moisture drying into phoenix, they are getting rain this morning, but that will track off to the east and then it heads out and we are going to have a different weather pattern come in and unfortunately it is not a rainy one. Today i put spangles to the south, maybe. A cooler forecast as the system passes us by and highpressure is going to build in again next week. What that does is allow for slots of sunshine and warmer temperatures but it keeps us in that dry pattern where any storms just go right over the top of us and just to show you this, this is the extended forecast. Look what is happening. Every bit of moisture will go right to the north of us. There is tuesday, there is wednesday. We will take it right until 28 february, we get 29 days this month so it is not the end of the month but you can see what i am saying. Normally in february we should get a little over three inches in san jose, about 4 1 2 in San Francisco. 6 in santa rosa. This month has underperformed, to a real unfortunate degree, we are looking dry for next week. We dont have anything in the pike that will change this dry spell. Our last measurable rain was january 28. We have gone 25 days without precipitation and you can imagine that is going to have some effects. All the storms have been going to the north of us, to the inside, to the south of us like the one that is currently happening and not hitting the mark. What that has done has left a good portion of the state abnormally dry. All of the areas you see in yellow in the areas and moderate drought in the tan color in the central parts of the state, these are the stages before we get to drought. Hopefully we will not get there, we will make up for it. These are the highest, upper 50s in San Francisco. 60s around the bay. Tonight will be mild again. Temperatures will be in the mid 40s to upper 40s around the bay. Low 40s as we get to some of the inland communities. Here is the extended forecast, notice that we have a pretty nice week and on top and we head into monday and tuesday and is gorgeous on and it will warm up again way above average and we should be low 60s, we will be looking at 70s.
