The city of Huntington Beach today was in court fighting the Governors Beach closure. Santa cruz county is drawing a line in the sand when it comes to what is and what is not permitted. The county Health Officer closing all beaches during peak hours from 11 a. M. To five p. M. After crowds gathered last weekend. Surfing and crossing the beach to serve is permitted anytime, however lingering on the beach, along with coolers and chairs, are prohibited. Officials and pacifica are reminding beachgoers at santa matteo counties shelter place order prohibits people from traveling more than five miles from their home. Violations of that part of the order led to more than 1000 citations of the past two weekends as people flocked to the beach. The revised order that goes into effect monday expands the travel radius from 5 to 10 miles. Both sonoma and solano counties loosening some restriction starting today. Sonoma allowing construction and real estate transactions to resume and some businesses like plant nurseries to reopen. And and Solano County recreational Outdoor Activities like offing and voting are now allowed. The announcements are now in line with six other bay area counties making the same moves on monday. Rural modoc county opened today. It is the first county to do so, despite the governors more cautious approach. Barbers can now cut hair and restaurants can offer insight dining. Modoc is a small county along the oregon state line. It has a population of less than 10,000 residents and so far there are no known coronavirus cases in the county. It was kind of a wildfire came through and cleaned everything up here and now we are back of to getting going again. Thats exciting. Reporter county officials said they are still urging residents to practice social distancing when eating out or shopping. Around the nation more and more states are letting restaurants and Retail Stores reopen, hoping to get their economies up and running again. Georgia and texas both allowed nonessential workers back on the job this week. Next monday moved businesses will be able to reopen in florida and louisiana churches and restaurants can reopen, but only Outdoor Service is allowed. But not everyone is on the same page here. Stay in local leaders are clashing over decisions to ease restrictions. And georgia the mayor of atlanta filling her constituents quote, dont listen to the governor. And in texas the mayor of dallas doesnt want to reopen, despite orders from the governor. Texas just reported its highest single day death toll since the outbreak began. The push to reopen comes as financial pressures mount, with more than 30 Million People having filed for unemployment since the outbreak started. The first of the month rings additional pressure for tenants and landlords who rely on rental payments. San francisco homeless women occupy the house today as dozens of protesters gathered outside to support them. The home is located in the Castro District on 19th street. At noon, dozens of protesters gathered on 19th street in San Franciscos castro neighborhood were to homeless women and a supporter entered and and d home to occupy it. We think this house is better used as Affordable Housing to offer protection to our homeless neighbors. Reporter protest organizers say the home has been vacant for years. We have developing news from oakland where police have just arrested a man suspected of shooting his neighbor earlier today. The initial call for help came before 2 00 this afternoon. Investigators responded to the corner of ney and 75th avenue. They found a man who had been shot and died at the scene. Sources told us the victim was in the area and was shot by his nextdoor neighbor. The victim leaves behind a wife and children. The suspect is identified as 43 yearold jamaal thomas. In the past hour king ward is in custody. Resources st. Thomas had been arrested earlier this year with attacking the same neighbor who was killed, but he was released on zero bail because of covid 19 concerns.
