It will be sunny and breezy with thunderstorms erupting over the sierra but we are all below average on the temperatures present cisco and oakland and especially in the areas. Over to sell now. The area there is the slowest traffic. Lets go right to and show the the macarthur maze leading to the bay bridge and you will see that traffic is okay at the maze. But when you get to the bay bridge, there is a backup for 1015 minutes. This is normal and it should start going away after 7 30 am and by 8 am it should be completely gone. This is interstate 880 n. And south moving well. No slow traffic there or on the peninsula or even in the south bay here, but we have song on the out pass approach. Lets get back to the headlines. An Early Morning house fire in oakland woke up people and cause a big Emergency Response on Martin Luther king jr. Way. We have been hearing from people who lived inside that building. Reporter a tense situation in oakland this morning. We talked to a couple of those residents and they are thankful to be alive. We did just talk to an oakland fire battalion chief and got some new information. We will start out by taking a live look at the scene now and break down exactly what we know. You are looking at the four plex on 31st and Martin Luther king jr. Way. Now that the sun is up, youre getting a good look at exactly how extensive this damage is. Battalion chief Heather Mosby said all nine residents living in this building got out safely. Firefighters also rescued two cats and reunited them with their owner. One firefighter was treated for a hand injury. The calls came in at 3 20 am this morning for the fire that possibly started outside the building in a courtyard area. But we dont know how. They are investing the cause but it does not appear to be suspicious. 45 firefighters rushed to the scene and were inside the building for 25 minutes trying to put out the flames but the damage is extensive. The roof collapsed and there is a lot of other smoke, fire and water damage. Crews worked hard and mosby credits them for not allowing it to spread to other buildings. She talked about how the unique shape of the Building Made the firefight harder. Spake it is a ushaped building and the fire was started in a courtyard extending to both sides. Not only do we have a fire of exterior getting into the building but two buildings essentially a four plex top and bottom on each side. Reporter definitely a difficult fire to get under control but those firefighters worked really hard in their homes right next to each other and none of those caught on fire. Mosby credits those firefighters for all of their hard work. Everyone made it out safely. All nine residents who lived inside this four plex all made out okay and there was one firefighter that had a hand injury but he is expected to be okay. An arrest has been made in the east bay were a 50yearold man from pittsburgh was accused of taking a bomb to the place where he used to work in antioch. The business, on apollo court, was echoed last night just before 6 pm. The man was arrested scene trying to drive away as police arrived. The walnut creek bomb squad reston and determined it was a bomb and safely removed the device. Today, treasury secretary Steve Mnunchin gives an update to republicans in congress on what the Trump Administration wants in the next Coronavirus Relief bill. Galley, will host a teleconference with reporters. He is expected to talk about coronavirus testing and medical resources around the state. According to johns hopkins, as early as today, maybe tomorrow, california will surpass new york as the state with the most rotavirus cases. Right now, new york has 407,000 virus cases. Followed by california with almost 399,000. While new york is averaging less than 1000 cases per day, california reports as many as 10,000 cases per day. California ranks fourth in the number of deaths with 7800. New york has more than 32,000. State and Contra Costa Health departments are investigating one of the largest covid19 albertson bay era. 130 people were infected at the Manor Care Health services tice valley facility in walnut creek. , people die. 25 active cases at that assisted living home now.
