Any of the bridges you want to focus on, first . The approach to the bay bridge is still slow, steve, because of earlier issues. Now, i want to mention that the maccarther maze even has a little bit of slowing here. You can see it, and that is tied to kind of a rough morning that we have had at the bay bridge. We had a couple cars break down just more people. We aired a story a while ago, that there is more traffic in the bay area, according to a company that monitors traffic. And i am seeing that here. At the bay bridge, its past 8 00, and look at that slow traffic. You dont want any part of that. Now this will probably thin out, but you will have to wait for about an hour. We should be Getting Better closer to 9 00. It is now 8 02, lets go back to the headlines. California saw another single day record for over 19 cases. 12,800 positive cases have now been reported with 7000 clustered in a few Southern California counties. California now has 421,000 cases of covid19. Our state has also reported 150 deaths in one day. It brings the total number statewide to 7870, since the beginning of this pandemic. During a briefing, 11 gave an update on the states stockpile of protective gear and increasing covid19 tests and deaths. We have averaged 90 lives lost, compared to about 98 lives in the previous seven days, but nonetheless, 90 lives lost. So its just another reminder, if i need to remind anybody, of the magnitude of impact that this virus continues to have. Governor newsom also said the states sevenday Positivity Rate has kicked up now to 7. 6 , well above the 5 benchmark recommended by the cdc. Happening today, Sonoma County supervisors are going to decide if they will find people and businesses for violating Health Orders. Supervisors are following the lead of other counties that could set up a system where residents are reporting and filing reports against their fellow residents. Ahead of their midday meeting today, the county of Public Health officer had already encouraged people to call either local or state officials if they see someone violating the law. If you observe practices that compromise your health and the health of coworkers, customers, or the general public, call your local Law Enforcement agencys nonemergency phone number, or the industrial relations labor partner. If the fivemember board of supervisors votes in a few hours to impose new fines, there could be one central number to call. They recommend stabbing a hotline where they can report. Fines would be 100 for individuals and 1000 for businesses. 2241 have been confirmed, cases of which have roughly 900 plus our active. The projected cost to over half million. Now Third District supervisor, shirley zane, a proponent of greater enforcement, says the proposal does not go far enough. She is quoted as saying, i think you deserve more than a 100 fine if you are going to take my life and the lives of other people in your hands. Oregons governor has demanded the president withdraw the federal officers. Here at home and happening today, the city of vallejo is hosting an online town hall meeting to discuss a proposed plan to improve the citys Police Department. The Vallejo Police force has been under scrutiny for several deadly officer involved shootings over the past few years. The department and community are gathering feedback. For the first time in more than 40 years, the cal state universitys system is changing its graduation requirement. 2023, students will have to take a class on either ethnic studies or social justice. The ethnics studies courses focus on four groups of american, native american, african, asian, and latin. The board of trustees expanded the requirement to include other groups. Some critics say they now expended it so much that you can fulfill the requirement without having to take an ethnic studies class.
