San Leandro Police said they chased a driver and a stolen acura in oakland where the driver crashed at peterman and apple street at about 11 00 last night. San Leandro Police say he then got out of the car with an assault style weapon. A san leandro k9 officer shot and killed him. This afternoon a few dozen people protested the departments third deadly shooting in 13 months. San leandro doesnt have a no chase policy and they had every opportunity to de escalate this before it happened.
