Both sides could face in this latest legal case against the former president. This is ktvu fox two news at noon. Good afternoon. Im ali rasmus. Well, the countdown is on to head back to class in the next couple of weeks, students will be back in school at the bay areas Largest School districts. But will there be enough educators to teach them . Californias largest Public School districts are struggling to find credentialed teachers. Our states Rural Communities are having the toughest time recruiting bay area School Districts are also struggling to fill vacancies as well. San francisco unified is experiencing employee shortages in most roles. The district says to date that they have filled about 76 of 600 classroom vacancies. Theyre expanding efforts to try and recruit more qualified candidates. Ted linder reports on the problem of the nationwide Teacher Shortage and some of the possible solutions to address it with back to School Season ramping up parents and students are gearing up. I always look forward to back to school shopping, but with classes resuming district, streets across the country are still working to address ongoing Teacher Shortages. Having enough adults in the building to support our students should be the paramount concern. Staffing gaps vary from state to state, but theyre especially being felt across the south and primarily in rural areas with special education and math positions. Still seeing greater vacancies. Less students are coming out of Higher Education to be teachers. Some professionals are also citing weak salaries that arent adjusted for inflation, as one of the main factors, the teacher salary. Its very low here in indiana. We are theres a minimum teacher salary for all districts across the state. And i think many states are actually doing that. But we have to think about the minimum salary in todays dollars isnt really the same amount that it was in 2019. The issue is expected to force some districts to rely more on substitutes, but frustration over their salaries could have many looking for better paying jobs in other industries. It feels disrespectful to me to say the work you do is not worth a living wage. Meanwhile, with nationwide math and reading scores severely down from prepandemic numbers, some experts say its critical. Now more than ever, that shortage is are properly addressed, not having consistent teachers in the classroom who want to stay and who gained further knowledge with each year that theyre in the classroom really impacts students. It can create even further loss. Ted lindner, fox news. Well, the Teacher Shortage has state lawmakers considering some new bills to try and recruit and retain educators. One Assembly Bill proposal creates a Grant Program for student teachers. It would pay California Teacher candidates while they are student teaching. Another proposal, the state would begin a Public Relations campaign to try and recruit new teachers. Two other bills moving through the state legislature would make it easier for outofstate teachers to get california credentials. Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to appear before a federal judge tomorrow to be arraigned on new felony charges. A grand jury indicted him on four felony counts related to his efforts to try and overturn the 2020 election. As Amanda Quintana explains, the criminal charges against trump and the challenges involved in this case, the attack on our nations capitol, on january 6th, 2021, was an unprecedented assault on the seat of american democracy. Justice Department Special counsel jack smith laid out his case tuesday, saying former President Trump broke several laws in his attempt to overturn the 2020 election. It was fueled by lies, lies by the defendant targeted at obstructing a bedrock function of the us government. The new charges include conspiracy to defraud the us conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an official proceeding and conspiracy to prevent others from carrying out their constitutional rights. Legal expert Jessica Levinson says smith makes a strong argument. On the one hand, he talks about the lies that the former president allegedly made, and he says that he knew about those lies. People told him that the election was not stolen. People told him there was not fraud and then on the other side, we see the former president taking specific and illegal actions to try and implement those lies. This is the third indicted trump has faced this year. But u. S. Law professor david levine says this one is the most significant , perhaps the most momentous indicted ever issued by the justice department. The reason why this one is so serious is that it gets to the heart of democracy. This was a challenge that we have never seen before. Maybe the war of 1812 when the british came to burn the white house, the civil war and maybe this is in a way the most difficult challenge to democracy. After those trumps Team Released a statement saying in part, these unamerican witch hunts will fail and President Trump will be reelected to the white house. Its the most interesting thing maybe in American History that a president former president , can be indicted over and again and still retain his base the way that he has. Its truly remarkable this isnt slowing down trumps campaign. Hes still the gop president ial frontrunner. His fundraising has already pulled in millions of dollars since his previous indictments. Ali obviously, the marine layer over performed last night. Its fog just after. All right. Just on schedule. In fact, the marine layer overnight, it thickened to about 3000ft. Its still evident right here at the golden gate bridge. I really like using the bridge kind of as a measuring stick. We know that the span here is 220ft above the water and the fog, the low clouds are just playing tag with the span. I also like to take a look at the flag on the fly. Its breezy there and i look i look at the tourists, too, and theyre all bundled up in their jackets. Our Storm Tracker is verifying that fog bank. Right now, 61. And when you take a look at that arrow, thats a strict onshore push, westerly at 16mph. So the bottom line is today we have a big fog bank. Its going to be cooler today and it will turn a little bit on the blustery side as far as your winds are concerned for your thursday, it will be the coolest day of this workweek and then less fog on friday through the weekend and some warmer conditions, monsoonal moisture continues to rip around the las vegas area, traversing in an easterly direction as it does so, we have that fog bank encouraged to push onshore for heres the deal. Whee flying or staying at home, a little bit of a warm up in store for the weekend, right . Absolutely but it will be short lived, really just a couple of days of a warm up and then well be back to seasonal highs right here in the bay area today. Its a big time cooldown. Have you felt the difference . Take a look at the difference. This is our live weather camera looking out towards sfo and south San Francisco where we do have the clouds down to about 600ft at this hour. Our Storm Tracker is verifying that. Look, with the fog bank just invading the golden gate bridge, it traverses easterly towards berkeley and in richmond and in oakland, were currently looking out the window outside our studios. It is gray. We do have the gray skies also from inverness lining the seashore through bolinas, all the way through pacifica. In fact, if we expand this particular map, you can see that our image does indicate that we have the low clouds of fog streaming all the way into watsonville. And this bank is so deep that is producing some condensation, some drizzle and some areas. Now, right now, our air temperature stands from 59 cool degrees in Half Moon Bay to 74. In livermore. Our winds have picked up, up to 26 mile per hour gusts right now in the fairfield area. 12 at oakland international. Its come at mineta International Airport. But everybodys going to become breezy to windy late day. Its a west and northwest wind. It has been increasing to 20mph. But some gusts, especially on the sea shore in excess of 35mph, perhaps as high as 40. So the bottom line is we have a big fog bank today. Tomorrow we will have that marine layer thicken up in the overnight hours again, and its going to pan out to be the coolest day of the workweek on friday through sunday. This has been eroding our marine layer earlier. But as it marches closer and that area of High Pressure traverses to the east, we do see that enhancement of the marine layer, and that affects our temperatures. In fact, take a look at these notable numbers. Yesterday it was 80 and san rafael just pleasant. Today, still a pretty day, but four degrees cooler, three degrees cooler in san mateo. Look at walnut creek, tumbling into the 70s and san jose minus five degrees today. Now typically, these are our average high temperature. So you can get a good feel for those and we should be right around 72 in oakland, a little shy of that and about ten degrees cooler than where we should be in san jose. Same thing in morgan hill across the country. Were at 103 right now in phenix, but theyre cooled down, has been short lived with the heat warning back into effect tomorrow. 111 there and its going to get hotter by the weekend. Were cooling down tonight to the 50s. Tomorrow anywhere from 60 to about 82 degrees. Thats unseasonably cool. 83 degrees in fairfield. And there you have that 103 on sunday. And antioch.
