Both sides could face in this latest legal case against the former president. This is ktvu fox two news at noon. Good afternoon. Im ali rasmus. Well, the countdown is on to head back to class in the next couple of weeks, students will be back in school at the bay areas Largest School districts. But will there be enough educators to teach them . Californias largest Public School districts are struggling to find credentialed teachers. Our states Rural Communities are having the toughest time recruiting bay area School Districts are also struggling to fill vacancies as well. San francisco unified is experiencing employee shortages in most roles. The district says to date that they have filled about 76 of 600 classroom vacancies. Theyre expanding efforts to try and recruit more qualified candidates. Ted linder reports on the problem of the nationwide Teacher Shortage and some of the possible solutions to address it with back to School Season ramping up parents and students are gearing up. I always look forward to back to school shopping, but with classes resuming district, streets across the country are still working to address ongoing Teacher Shortages. Having enough adults in the building to support our students should be the paramount concern. Staffing gaps vary from state to state, but theyre especially being felt across the south and primarily in rural areas with special education and math positions. Still seeing greater vacancies. Less students are coming out of Higher Education to be teachers. Some professionals are also citing weak salaries that arent adjusted for inflation, as one of the main factors, the teacher salary. Its very low here in indiana. We are theres a minimum teacher salary for all districts across the state. And i think many states are actually doing that. But we have to think about the minimum salary in todays dollars isnt really the same amount that it was in 2019. The issue is expected to force some districts to rely more on substitutes, but frustration over their salaries could have many looking for better paying jobs in other industries. It feels disrespectful to me to say the work you do is not worth a living wage. Meanwhile, with nationwide math and reading scores severely down from prepandemic numbers, some experts say its critical. Now more than ever, that shortage is are properly addressed, not having consistent teachers in the classroom who want to stay and who gained further knowledge with each year that theyre in the classroom really impacts students. It can create even further loss. Ted lindner, fox news. Well, the Teacher Shortage has state lawmakers considering some new bills to try and recruit and retain educators. One Assembly Bill proposal creates a Grant Program for student teachers. It would pay California Teacher candidates while they are student teaching. Another proposal, the state would begin a Public Relations campaign to try and recruit new teachers. Two other bills moving through the state legislature would make it easier for outofstate teachers to get california credentials. Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to appear before a federal judge tomorrow to be arraigned on new felony charges. A grand jury indicted him on four felony counts related to his efforts to try and overturn the 2020 election. As Amanda Quintana explains, the criminal charges against trump and the challenges involved in this case, the attack on our nations capitol, on january 6th, 2021, was an unprecedented assault on the seat of american democracy. Justice Department Special counsel jack smith laid out his case tuesday, saying former President Trump broke several laws in his attempt to overturn the 2020 election. It was fueled by lies, lies by the defendant targeted at obstructing a bedrock function of the us government. The new charges include conspiracy to defraud the us conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an official proceeding and conspiracy to prevent others from carrying out their constitutional rights. Legal expert Jessica Levinson says smith makes a strong argument. On the one hand, he talks about the lies that the former president allegedly made, and he says that he knew about those lies. People told him that the election was not stolen. People told him there was not fraud and then on the other side, we see the former president taking specific and illegal actions to try and implement those lies. This is the third indicted trump has faced this year. But u. S. Law professor david levine says this one is the most significant , perhaps the most momentous indicted ever issued by the justice department. The reason why this one is so serious is that it gets to the heart of democracy. This was a challenge that we have never seen before. Maybe the war of 1812 when the british came to burn the white house, the civil war and maybe this is in a way the most difficult challenge to democracy. After those trumps Team Released a statement saying in part, these unamerican witch hunts will fail and President Trump will be reelected to the white house. Its the most interesting thing maybe in American History that a president former president , can be indicted over and again and still retain his base the way that he has. Its truly remarkable this isnt slowing down trumps campaign. Hes still the gop president ial frontrunner. His fundraising has already pulled in millions of dollars since his previous indictments. Ali obviously, the marine layer over performed last night. Its fog just after. All right. Just on schedule. In fact, the marine layer overnight, it thickened to about 3000ft. Its still evident right here at the golden gate bridge. I really like using the bridge kind of as a measuring stick. Its breezy there and i look i look at the tourists, too, and theyre all bundled up in their jackets. Our Storm Tracker is verifying that fog bank. You see it entering the golden gate bridge, making tracks towards the eastern portion of our bay area. You see richmond and berkeley with the stratus as well. That will clear gradually.
