Yeah. Its not as bad as yesterday. But yes, we actually have a little rain here in oakland. Wow. Big drops, big drops. Temperatures are warm again, although weve lost a majority of the higher clouds. Theyre still plenty going through. And theres a little line forming ill show you here in a second. I mean, 60s again, on many of these lows, thats for sure. Have a watch. The line that forms from fremont to oakland right there. Its right over richmond now. Probably berkeley and emeryville and heading out right over San Pablo Bay, stretching back along the 880 corridor. So were not done with that moisture yet. Still some coming up from the south. Its going to be hot today, especially if you dont have any clouds. Well go 70s, 80s and 90s to 100 out there in livermore. I think sals here. There he is. There he is picking up something on 80. Thats my guess. Thats right. 80 at powell street was a big rig crash. Its right at powell street and theyre still clearing it up. It happened last night, late last night at about 1145, a truck accident. Now, i do have a picture of interstate 80 right at the macarthur maze. I dont see a big delay here yet. However, this has been going on pretty much all overnight. So we will keep an eye on it for you. And i can show you on the map that traffic is going to be doing okay, believe it or not, because its so lightly traveled. But if this is not cleared up, it could be an incident that were going to talk about and that would be westbound 80 right there at powell street. Were going to keep an eye on it for you. Now another thing that were looking at is the bay bridge that has been light lately, traveled. No problems there coming out toward the bay. Bridge toll plaza and it looks good crossing the bridge. Its 402. Lets get back to the headlines. All right. Thank you, sal. You were just talking about that. We have been closely watching that crash in the east bay. It involved a ups truck. It has been causing a pretty big traffic backup overnight. Might want to show you a little bit more about that. The big rig was hauling two trailers on interstate 80 just before midnight when it slammed into the Center Divide between the ashby and powell street exits. It went over the concrete median and into the opposite direction of interstate 80. Now a ktvu viewer sent us a photo of the crash. Take a look at this. You can see one of the trailers actually on top of the concrete median. Several other cars, including a ford mustang and a Nissan Altima were also involved in that crash. Interstate 80 has been probably in both directions. Not too bad heading towards the city at this point, but no word on when all the lanes will be cleared on the other side, heading east. We will have the latest updates from the scene throughout mornings on two. Donald trump is facing another criminal indictment this morning, his fourth this year in palm. This latest case is from georgia. It accuses trump and 18 other people of conspiring to unlawfully change the outcome of the 2020 election. Ctvs Jana Katsuyama tells us how this indictment may possibly be the most serious so far against the former president. Charging nine individuals with violations of georgia law arising from a criminal conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 president ial election in this state. Fulton County District attorney fani willis announced the charges late monday night, wrapping up an investigation that lasted more than two years. The is alleged interference in the 2020 election by former President Donald Trump and his supporters to illegally keep President Trump in office. Former President Trump is named in 13 counts, which include trumps phone call to georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensperger asking him to find enough votes to overturn bidens win in georgia. I just want to find. 11,780 votes, specifically , the participants in association took various actions in georgia and elsewhere to block the counting of the votes of the president. Electors who were certified as the winners of georgias 2020 general election. Among the others indicted trumps attorneys, Rudy Giuliani and john eastman, as well as white house chief of staff mark meadows and georgia gop officials, as well as campaign attorney Sidney Powell. Charges include false statements impersonating a public official forgery and conspiracy to submit false documents rather than by abide by georgias Legal Process for election challenge. The defendants in engaged in a criminal racketeering enterprise to overturn georgia president ial election result Jana Katsuyama ktvu fox two news. Jana thank you. Well, political analysts say this indictment is different from the three other criminal indictments that trump is facing because he could not pardon himself if hes convicted, even if he becomes president. This is very significant because i think that some people think trump is running for president so he can avoid being convicted on the federal charges, but it wouldnt help him even if he gets elected president again. He doesnt have any power to pardon himself on a state offense and in fact, in georgia, not even the governor could pardon him. It would have to be the pardon board. And after serving five years in prison, so this is a really significant case against him, both in scope and the potential for exposure and the fact that itll be very hard for him to keep a whole group of 19 people together in solidarity when they go to trial. And professor levinson says the new charges also carry a mandatory minimum sentence and says if convicted, the defendants could be sentenced to 5 to 20 years in prison. So now here is a timeline for the pending trials with the other indictments against donald trump. Prosecutors have proposed a january trial for the federal indictment tied to trumps alleged involvement in the january 6th riot at the us capitol. And in march, the former president is scheduled to stand trial in new york for the case tied to hush money payments made during the 2016 campaign. Then in may, trump is due to face trial in florida in another federal case about the classified documents found at his mar a lago estate. You can find extensive coverage of this indictment on our website, ktvu. Our online coverage includes a link to the full indictment that you can read for yourself. An estimated 2000 homes, businesses and other buildings have been destroyed. I understand that people want numbers. Its not a numbers game. Right now were at 99 souls and families, so were going to continue to do that. Now, there were several wildfires across hawaii, but the governor says the lahaina fire is the most devastating it is now 85 contained in pan Mental Health counseling is being offered to the fire victims in hawaii by counselors who all over the country, the experts say this kind of major trauma often causes anxiety and overwhelming grief as people are losing family and friends. That includes the people who lost relatives and friends as well as their homes. But even losing a favorite Gathering Spot like a restaurant or a childhood school can also be emotionally difficult. The counselors say their job is to offer some relief from the emotional distress. Im just holding a safe space and allowing them to cry. Just being present for them and providing some trauma. Informed care as well as just listening to them, because sometimes they just need to process. A lot of them are still experiencing some stress and some shock factor. Now, the counselors say it is normal for someone whos gone through this kind of tragedy to have nightmares, panic attacks, even feel emotionally distant, the kind of shock can affect people of all ages and backgrounds and Long Term Care may be needed for some animal control officers in hawaii say hundreds of dogs and cats have been killed or hurt in the fire. On maui, an estimated 3000 pets are reported missing. The Maui Humane Society is now leading the effort to reunite those dogs and cats with their families while treating the animals in need. We have seen animals come through our shelter that have severe, severe burns. We have seen dogs that have essentially had their their paws all the way burnt down to the bone from running from the fire. Oh, the Maui Humane Society is also providing medical treatment for some other animals, including chickens, pigs and other animals that were hurt in the fire. All right, pam. Time now for ten. Were going right back to sal castaneda, the very latest on whats happening on interstate 80. Yeah you know, things are better there on 80. Weve been looking around. Weve been moving the camera. We dont see anything. Now. Last night, the crash was right where this camera is. Let me show it to you right here. And we could definitely we took some video of the truck, but now i dont see it. Now, chp has not officially cleared the incident here. They havent. Weve been looking around with our camera, also been looking around with the maps to see if theres any slowdown. And i dont see any slowdown at all. Now im going to keep an eye on it for you because, again, chp says they havent officially cleared the incident, but traffic is flowing smoothly in the area. We do have a new crash reported westbound 580 at coolidge. This crash just came in traffic is going to be a little bit slow past that scene on 580 at coolidge 411. Lets go now to steve whos doing the weather. All right. Thank you, sam. Well get to it here. We have a little bit of activity coming in from this low, which is still off of Southern California. Its going to lift northward throughout the week, but it is dragging across a nice little band there of some clouds and embedded within that, some light rain right there. Look at that right over San Pablo Bay. Just went over it looks like el cerrito, richmond and heading right over heading up over San Pablo Bay right there. Probably will fall apart, but it may bring a little bit of activity there up around maybe petaluma or so. Keep an eye on that. It is warm, warm in the Higher Elevations. Mount vitas, 80 degrees. Ben lomond mountain is 80. Berkeley lab. Even at 67, lots of 60s, even some low 70s, a few 50s, but a lot of 60s on those temps and the moisture will continue to move up around this low. So its tapping into some and its going to produce some widely scattered showers and theres a lot of activity up in the mountains. You can see the thunderstorm activity has erupted up in the sierra truckee , 46, South Lake Tahoe at 48 degrees. You can see that line coming right up, right up five. Its coming up five. Its in the fast lane. Thats for sure. And up in the mountains, its going to be an active pattern. All the way through the rest of the week and probably into the weekend. Look at that. Thats a strong push. Now, there are some theres some hints of maybe tropical moisture. That surge youre seeing right here would be the remains of a tropical system that doesnt mean its going to verify, but there could be a lot of activity here going forward. Keep an eye on it. The forecast models have a hard time handling that kind of moisture. But something keep an eye on here for us. Watch the moisture, though, just just paint the sierra. Theres another round that goes in. Thats on later this afternoon. Tonight, some of that moisture could easily clip us. Its just a broad brush watch again. Look at that again as we go into thursday. So its going to be one heck of a week there for the mountains. And occasionally we get some as well. If you dont get that cloud cover at all, its going to be hot. So well go partly cloudy, muggy, a few showers, hot inland, 90 to 100. That does include antioch and livermore and fairfield. Thank you, steve. San jose mayor matt mahon says Tuesdays City Council vote is about the citys ability to create a Utility Company. And its the first of many steps in the process. Theyll take a look at the Economic Impact and other key factors before finalizing any decision as the state expands transmission lines into san jose. If we were to tap directly into those, we may have more direct control over our destiny in terms of priority housing projects, ensuring they get connected to the grid faster. There could be some real benefits there. Currently, the city of san jose is serviced by pga and mehan says he has discussed with them the citys needs and concerns. He says the council will discuss if creating a san jose Utility Company may avoid more construction delays and lead to future savings. Right now what were looking at in the short term is interconnection rates. How quickly can new housing and jobs get connected to the grid . So that we can continue to facilitate Economic Development in san jose, demand for electricity throughout the state continues to grow, which is one reason new transmission lines are being installed throughout the south bay region. The primary line were looking at would be coming down from newark through North San Jose near our Wastewater Treatment facility, which is a major energy user, would then come down past the airport. Another major user of energy down into the durden station area, where we anticipate Downtown West eventually being built out. The mayor says although they are considering creating a Power Company in san jose, he also doesnt want to overburden the city with more responsibility than it already has. We reached out to pga for comment, but they didnt respond in time for this report. Lamonica peters, ktvu fox two news. Thank you.
