And temps in the valley have been hot, but not here, as you know. And i think thats the theme i think will favor us for much of the month and probably into early june as well. A lot of gray out there. So were working for the weekend, but its a cool start to the weekend , at least for some here, and i think itll be the same tonight into saturday morning. Right now, it looks like everythings a lot lighter. We dont have a lot of slowing yet. Were just going to leave that alone. 702 lets go back to the headlines now. Thank you. Well, last night, 12 protesters were arrested near the uc berkeley campus. Theyre accused of being part of a of a pro gaza group that took over a vacant building owned by uc berkeley, now ktvu. Sally rasmus is in studio now to tell us that 20 different Law Enforcement agencies were brought in to remove those demonstrators. Yes. A Large Police Presence at that site last night, uc berkeley brought in police from as far away as fairfield and foster city to help them clear an ahead hall on channing way. Thats in berkeley, near peoples park. Palestine police and riot gear formed a line around the building, and University Workers then went in to start clearing away the trash and belongings of the protesters inside that building, there was graffiti scrawled on some of the walls. There were no fights or reports of injuries, but 12 people were arrested. The protesters started occupying the uc berkeley owned building earlier this week as it was cleared out, the group chanted support for palestine in the war in gaza. Free, free, free, free palestine. Now, the university confirms this group is different from the protesters who set up an encampment near sproul hall a few weeks ago. That encampment was dismantled after a deal was reached with administrators, but the demonstrators at the anna head hall site said they would only provide information about their demands on their instagram page. They would not speak with the media about their cause and what exactly their objectives were in taking over that building. Now, uc berkeley says it considers the occupation of head hall a crime, not free speech, and says the 12 people who were arrested will likely be charged on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy and vandalism. The University Says it plans to disclose the names and affiliations of the 12 people arrested. Back to you, dave. Okay, ali. Thank you. Time 704 classes on campus. Sapir built by the united states, first in n operation that American Military leaders say. Meanwhile in washington, House Republicans voted to pass a bill to reverse President Bidens freeze on sending a shipment of weapons to israel as it plans to invade the Southern Gaza city of rafah. Democrats are calling the bill a political stunt by republicans, as President Biden defies the will of congress with his use of executive privilege. He is brazen, doing so by withholding congressionally mandated aid. Everything it calls for. The administration is already doing. And it is just yet another example of the republicans using israel and antisemitism for their own political purposes every day. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer says the senate will not take up the legislation. The white house has already said the president will veto the bill if it makes it to his desk. Our time now is 705. Israel defended its military actions in gaza at a hearing with the United Nations top court, and an israeli official said theyre taking the action to avoid harming civilians as they carry out a military offensive in rafah in the Southern Gaza area. That is why there has not been a large scale assault on rafah, but rather specific, limited and localized operations prefaced with evacuation efforts and support for humanitarian activities. Now, the International Court of justice is holding a third round of hearings on emergency measures requested by south africa, which wants the court to order a cease fire in gaza. Ktvu coverage of the war in gaza, as well as the protests here in the bay area, continues online on our website ktvu. Com. Ktvu is andre senior in the studio with me now to tell us why these crimes are especially disturbing . Well, dave, there have been three brazen burglaries in the Redwood Heights neighborhood in just the past six weeks. Theyve all been taking place in broad daylight, sometimes while neighbors are watching. One crime took place earlier this week on monday afternoon. It was all captured on surveillance camera. It shows two masked burglars running out of a home, one holding a pillowcase. As you see right there, the victim says it was filled with jewelry stolen from her bedroom. Just bust in my home and take my things like its no problem. Its terrifying. Its frustrating. The People Living on reinhardt drive say all three break ins have been between the hours of noon and four. And they say these bold thieves dont seem to care that everyone can see them breaking into these homes. One neighbor says he screamed at them while they were driving away. They were, you know, certainly not put off by somebody seeing them commit a crime. It seems like this was kind of a normal practice for them. Neighbors say they have taken a photo of the thieves car. You see it right here. It was a black bmw sedan. The People Living on the street suspect their homes close proximity to highways 13 and 580 make them an attractive target for thieves. Looking for a quick getaway. We reached out to the Oakland Police department. Officers only would confirm that there have been three recent home break ins on that block. Garcia. Andre. Thank you. Bonnie doon davenport and santa rosa, all with some measurable amounts of drizzle. The wind has turned a little more west southwest, well more westerly right here. See this little low, little coastal eddy right there visiting the marin coast point rays. And then that funnels in this right there over through the golden gate, san pablo bay, right out to the street. And theres nothing to stop that low cloud deck. Its up around 2200ft. Water temps came down at just a skosh there, from about 54 or 50 5 to 52, 54 and in cold temps, water temps anytime. We talked about this in early april , as long as they stayed cold and we had any kind of onshore breeze, fog was never far away and boy is it ever 50 on the temps a few 40s, but a lot of low 50s. We are running about 2 to 5 degrees cooler than yesterday at this time. 52 popular scotts valley, socal, aptos, santa cruz, morgan hill, san martin, hollister all in there. A little warmer, but mid 50s around saratoga, campbell, also cupertino. Low clouds, a lot of gray over the bay and well out and out to the delta as well. And system is going to sweep into the north. Thatll keep the breeze going and also keep the theme of some cooler temps. So fog, drizzle, sunny, breezy, but temps not that warm unless youre really far inland. Big fog bank, windy and cooler taking us into at least saturday. Probably sunday and i would think drizzle as well is not going to be far away tonight and tomorrow again. For many, especially coastal hills, one item of interest would be the mountains starting early next week. Thunderstorm activity already popping up, maybe a return visit there for truckee, kirkwood and South Lake Tahoe down to mammoth. That would be early next week. Stratus quo is in place. Low overcast, fog, then sun. Nice. Mild, blustery, breezy to downright windy for some 5060 by the water. 60s and 70s inland. If anything, maybe a little cooler into the weekend. Some bump in temps probably early next week. Steve. Thank you. Many visitors to yosemite are no stranger to posting on instagram the fact theyve conquered c
