Tonight, the family of jenny lynn gathered for a memorial service. The 14 Year Old Girl was murdered in her Castro Valley home nearly 30 years ago. New at ten ktvu is. Amber lee joins us live tonight from Castro Valley. And amber investigators are not giving up on this case, and neither is her parents and community members. The ceremony was held here at the library, the Castro Valley library. Her parents now live in southern california, but they return here every year to make sure their daughters case is not forgotten. In a musical tribute to honor the memory of jenny lynn of Castro Valley, the talented Young Musicians life cut short 30 years ago when she was only 14. Her parents say the wheels of justice have moved agonizingly slow and time has not healed their pain. Weve been living under the shadow of this horrible crime for 30 years. Jenny was stabbed and killed inside her home on may 27th, 1994, two days after her birthday. Her parents tell me jenny had gotten home from school and was alone. Her father discovered her body. It still feels like it just happened yesterday. Its still so vivid, so fresh. Each year, the lins hold a candlelight walk after the celebration of life ceremony. They want to keep jennys memory alive and bring renewed attention to her unsolved murder. Dna technology has solved many cold cases, and her parents hope it will help identify their daughters killer and bring that person to justice. We need a closure. We need to give jenny, the promise that we gave her, which is to find a justice for her. Jennys case is our highest priority. Alameda county sheriff Yesenia Sanchez came to support the family. Sanchez tells me dna has been uploaded to see if genetic genealogy will be able to help solve this case. She says other advances are also being used to help find answers. Our investigators are in touch with people who are developing new, new processes as far as forensically, so that is what is, you know, efforts that will be ongoing. Jennys parents say they will never give up hope for getting answers and justice for their daughter. Sooner or later, were going to catch this guy. Were doing things that if jenny were here, she would have done it herself. So i think thats the strength that keeps us going. The parents started the jenny Lynn Foundation a few months after she was killed. It is offering a 200,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible, alex and amber. Authorities years ago named a prime suspect in this killing. A man who later died in prison is he still a focus at all for investigators . Well, i brought that up with the sheriff and she tells me that suspect has been ruled out completely. Alex. All right. Amber lee reporting live for us tonight. Amber. Thank you. A san jose man is under arrest tonight. Accused of killing his own mother. Hes identified as roger lee. Police responded yesterday to a report of a suspicious circumstance at lees mothers home on shadow dance drive in san jose. They found the woman unconscious and not breathing. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death has not yet been released. Police say lee was arrested at the home and will be charged with murder. The motive and circumstances surrounding this killing are still under investigation in oakland. Police still looking for additional suspects after last nights shooting at Skyline High School that left three people hurt. Ktvu joey horta tells us a 15,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest. A rite of passage for teens turns violent. Oakland police are investigating a shooting that happened shortly after the Skyline High School graduation. Police say shots were fired on campus around 745 thursday night as people were leaving the ceremony. Police say two groups got into a fight in the School Parking lot, resulting in multiple people being shot. We heard the gunshots. Zaidi yucel has lived right across the street from the school for close to 30 years and ran outside, and it reminded me as soon as i heard the shots, this recent shooting in uvalde, texas, Oakland Unified School district tells ktvu many families and students had already left the campus, but others, including staff members, were still on hand cleaning up. I was there because my brother was graduating and hes okay, but its kind of crazy because skyline alum josh manly works at the church down the street, where a sign salutes the graduates. He left campus before the shooting, but his 16 year old brother was still there. They heard the shots, but they thought it was just more confetti cannons. But then people started screaming and they got out of there pretty quick. Oakland unified superintendent doctor kyla johnson travel calls the shooting heartbreaking and absolutely unacceptable, while adding as a community, we must not tolerate violence and instead Work Together to eliminate it. In oakland, having a gunshots and guns bringing into school, it is difficult to digest. It is concerning Assembly Member bonta tweeting my heart is with the students, families and Skyline High School staff and educators. All three of the victims are expected to survive, and Oakland Police say theyll be on hand at future graduations in the newsroom. Joey hornet, ktvu, fox two news a High School Student in santa rosa has been arrested for allegedly pulling out a knife during a fight on campus. It happened at Montgomery High School on wednesday, police say a video appears to show a 15 year old boy holding a folding knife during a fight with another student, but that that blade was not extended during the fight. That teen is now facing several charges, including felony assault with a deadly weapon. The knife was not found. New. At ten, two people have been charged in a case of retail theft that totaled more than half 1 million, 33 yearold irene cruz and 21 year old jose cruz were both charged by the Alameda CountyDistrict Attorney with organized retail theft and receiving over 541,000 worth of stolen property. The bus in oakland and Sacramento County last year uncovered thousands of items including cosmetics, toiletries, medicine and cleaning supplies. Investigators also seized cash and a loaded handgun inside a Storage Facility in oakland. Is it over now . Night one officially in the books here at bottlerock in napa. Crowds starting to shuffle out. This is kind of the tail end. I want to move out of the way so you can take a look, about five or so minutes ago, right at the top of the ten when the 10 00 show started. This was wall to wall people. You couldnt move. That is why we kind of chose to stay back here, away from the crowd. The festival completely sold out for the rest of the weekend. Its one of the hottest tickets in town that is, if you can get one. We talked to folks young and old, as young as four weeks old, who came from all over to experience this festival and you start to which bottlerock is estimated to bring more than 100,000 people over the next few days to californias famed napa valley. The wines helping amanda and david brought their four week old son to the festival, hoping he could make it through stevie nicks set in the womb. He would have listened to a lot of like, stevie nicks and all of that. So this is quite probably normal for him. But the festival, its also home to world class food, though the lobster, tater tots seemed to be the crowd favorite, lobster tots , i think those were a standout. Ill give it a ten. This is in san mateo in the area of South Norfolk street and shore view avenue. This is expected to go until around 2 a. M. Obviously, the chp really stepping up its maximum enforcement period as we head into this long Holiday Weekend that began earlier tonight. That stepped up. Enforcement began around 6 00 tonight. It will last through early tuesday morning. Officers will be out there looking for drunk or distracted drivers, speeding and other reckless behavior. Bay area roads, meantime, were packed earlier today as a lot of people got a jump on their Holiday Weekend. Here is what it looked like on interstate 80 through emeryville and berkeley late this afternoon. Boy, you can see it was slow heading in both directions west into the city and east toward albany and el cerrito. All lanes are back open tonight on highway 101 in south san jose, following a deadly crash. It happened just before noon today near blossom hill road. The chp says a wrong way driver was heading north in the southbound lanes and slammed right into that big rig. The driver inside the car died at the scene. The driver of the big rig was not injured. This crash caused about 100 gallons of fuel to spill onto the roadway and it triggered a huge traffic backup in the area. The southbound lanes of highway 101 did reopen around 845 tonight, and it was slow getting into San Francisco all day long because of this big rig that caught fire on the bay bridge today, backing up traffic. It happened just before 10 00 this morning. The trucks trailer was seen burning in the westbound lanes of the bridge just east of treasure island. That trailer was filled with produce, according to authorities. Thankfully, no one was hurt in that fire. The exact cause is still unclear tonight, but the San FranciscoFire Department says the trailers rear brakes may have overheated. A new store is heading to San Franciscos union square. I think its exciting that were getting a Nintendo Store slated to open in San Franciscos union square sometime in 2025. The japan based video game giant announced friday. They have a lot of exclusive merch there, so you can buy like hoodies, hats, t shirts for a lot of franchises that you dont see. The aquarium of the bay is San Franciscos pier 39 has now been stripped of a key accreditation, the association of zoos and aquariums announcing today that its rescinding the accreditation, citing concerns about the aquariums financial stability, staffing capabilities and employee morale and turnover. Now, the aquariums chairman says this loss is among the reasons why the board asked aquarium president and ceo george jacob to resign on wednesday. The aquarium will remain open and has until june 13th to appeal this decision. Well, a big time cool down today here in the bay area.
