WOONSOCKET – Staff at Landmark Medical Center said they expect to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday or Friday of this week, and begin vaccinating employees next Monday, Dec. 21. Dr. Glenn Fort, chief medical officer at Landmark and pictured, said the vaccine was originally expected to arrive on Thursday, but due to this week’s snowstorm, shipments could be delayed until Friday. “We anticipate having our first clinic on Monday. It’s going to be limited to Landmark healthcare workers. We’re not going to be vaccinating the public at this time,” he said. The shipment follows an initial shipment to other hospitals in Rhode Island this past Monday, Dec. 14, when Dr. Christian Arbelaez at Rhode Island Hospital became the first person in Rhode Island to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
