ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Workers across our state could soon have access to paid sick leave.
Two different pieces of pre-filed legislation aim to tackle the issue during the 60-day session, which kicks off Tuesday. If passed, those bills would require businesses to allow employees to accrue that time off.
Paid sick leave is something that the city of Albuquerque has been trying to address for years. However, these bills would have the power to impact the entire state.
A sponsor for House Bill 37 said the pandemic has only made this more of a necessity, but some businesses are afraid this could be the final straw.
