Credit le.utah.gov The late Representative LaWanna Shurtliff was remembered by her colleagues in the state House and Senate on Tuesday for her many contributions to the state, including those as a lawmaker and an educator. “She served two stints in this chamber from 1999 to 2008, and was elected again a decade later. Her service to the people of Utah went well beyond the legislature. Lou taught thousands of students English, accounting and business at Ogden High School for nearly three decades,” said House Speaker Brad Wilson.
Wilson and Senate President Stuart Adams both called for a moment of silence in honor of Shurtliff in their respective chambers during Tuesday’s opening day ceremonies and acknowledged her in their remarks.
