Legal fees top $810,000 in airport takeover case Source: WLBT By Anthony Warren | April 1, 2021 at 2:02 PM CDT - Updated April 1 at 2:46 PM JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Five years and 441 filings later, the city of Jackson and the state have racked up more than $810,000 in legal fees associated with the airport takeover case. To date, the state’s legal fees have topped $171,000, while the city has amassed nearly $640,000, or three times the amount spent by the state. The case has gone on so long, in fact, that U.S. District Court Judge Carlton Reeves voiced his frustration in a March 15 order. “When we last met, this court expressed its hope that the parties and respondents would return to the Fifth Circuit with a stipulated record,” he said. “Instead, we have three new motions.”
