Advertisement Legendary broadcaster and Australia’s longest-serving news presenter Brian Henderson has died aged 89 after a battle with cancer. Karl Stefanovic announced the news on Today on Thursday morning, calling Henderson a “much-loved member of the Nine family”. “I knew him – an absolute legend, a gentleman and a total professional who provided guidance and inspiration for many generations who followed. We loved him.” Henderson, who also hosted live music program Bandstand, retired from reading Sydney’s weeknight news in 2002. His first broadcast with TCN was in 1957. His family said Henderson died peacefully in the early hours of this morning surrounded by his wife Mardi and daughters Nicole and Jody.
