In most areas where converted transportation routes are made into parks, such as the High Line in Manhattan or Bloomingdale Trail in Chicago both built on former rail lines, the centralized patch of green provides an accessible respite from metropolis sprawl. Albany is different as there is ready access to all sorts of green space nearby, including the Corning Preserve, Washington Park and, oh yeah, the Adirondack Park.
