Letter: Support voting rights Shares I write to encourage residents who care deeply about voting rights and social justice to tell their House and Senate representatives how important voter protections and full representation are. S1 — the For the People Act and HR51 — the Washington DC Admission Act are coming up soon for House and Senate votes. Both have strong support from our own senators Padilla and Feinstein and Representatives Garamendi and Matsui, as well as a majority of Democratic members of both houses. But Federal Voting Rights protection laws should enjoy nonpartisan support by all parties. Protecting every eligible voter’s right to fully participate in our democracy is a principle long championed by the League of Women Voters, who has also stepped up and taken a strong stand in support of both of these important bills.
