A limited amount of COVID-19 vaccine is available at Walgreens and CVS. The Iowa Department of Public Health announced Wednesday that there is enough vaccine for about 32-thousand Iowans age 65 and older. They are unused vaccines, which were originally allocated to the Long-Term Care Pharmacy Partnership Program and have now been redistributed to a limited number of Walgreens and CVS stores in select Iowa counties. Iowans age 65 and older can register online for a vaccine appointment at a participating Walgreens or CVS location near them. There are Walgreens locations nearby in Dubuque, Linn and Black Hawk counties – appointments can now be made at those locations while supplies last. There are CVS locations nearby in Linn and Black Hawk counties – appointments can be made at those locations beginning at 8 am Thursday.
