The Planning Board's approval on Jan. 7 of a special permit hinges on approval of the host community agreement. The plan calls for a "last-mile" facility, for deliveries within a 45-mile radius. The site formerly housed Digital Equipment Corp. "I think we came out of it with a better design than what we came in with," said Larry Beals, the project's planning engineer. Traffic concerns Select Board member Matthew Nordhaus praised the pact, but said, "My concern is -- and I've been hearing from residents a great deal -- is traffic. People are extremely worried about local streets being overrun." Traffic on Foster or Taylor streets would mainly be for delivery of packages locally, with signs posted to remind drivers to take a left turn only unless for local deliveries.
