The Antarctic blast is continuing to wreak havoc across New Zealand as the wild weather settles in for a second day. 
Aucklanders are waking up to a bitterly cold morning after shivering through one of the coldest nights of the year, with overnight temperatures plummeting into the negatives across the country.
A local state of emergency remains in place for Wellington's south coast as huge waves continue to pound the capital's coastline, with some reaching up to 6.5m overnight. Officials are warning locals they're "not out of the woods just yet", with high tides posing the "highest risk" and mighty swells still surging towards the shore.
