Officers were called at 12.15pm by a passer-by, who reported a cable had come down from a pylon and that an area of grass on the bank by the road was on fire. Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit, traffic officers from Highways England, and crews from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were all at the scene. Derbyshire police tweeted about the incident just before 1pm this afternoon to say: "We have closed both north and southbound carriageways of the M1 between junctions 29 and 29a.
