The Minnesota Legislature wrapped up its 2008 session Sunday after legislators promised a $42 million increase in local government aid. Gov. Tim Pawlenty is expected to sign the bill into law. State funding to city governments increased across the board, including for most cities in Clay County and outlying county seats. County aid was increased by $22 million, with the theory that more state aid will help keep local property taxes low.
