Local COVID roundup 12/16: hospital bed use increases by almost 60

PEORIA, Ill. — A combined nine residents of Peoria, Woodford, and Tazewell Counties passed away between Tuesday and Wednesday from COVID-19 complications.
In Peoria County, a man in his 50s, two men in their 70s, and a male and female in their 80s all succumbed to the virus.
Tazewell County had the only long-term care facility-related death, a woman in her 80s who resided at Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin.
Woodford County experienced the death of a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s, and a male in his 90s.
A combined 334 residents, meanwhile, tested positive: 165 in Peoria, 137 in Tazewell, and 32 in Woodford.
